Free Dining Oct-Dec Is Here!!

Hi AwayWeGo, I forget what the dates are for your purchased plane tickets, but if you only need to shift one day to get free dining, could you change the flight of one of the adults in the party to fly down a day early so that you could check in within the free dining dates? Then the additonal cost would be the change fee of $230 for only one person, plus the cost of one extra night at the hotel, which in total would be less than half of the $920 to change all of the plane tickets. The others would fly in the next day.

But like I said I forget your dates, so if you need to move more than one day my suggestion won't help.

That is an awesome idea. We don't arrive until 7 days after the last FD date though. But still, that would have been great for us if we could. I would have never thought of that.

Is this true? I thought I talked to a CM and they said if FD was offered and I added it there would be no affect on the price of my package?

That is an awesome idea. We don't arrive until 7 days after the last FD date though. But still, that would have been great for us if we could. I would have never thought of that.

Anyone know how accurate these leaks are typically? We were planning on the week after Thanksgiving too as that was when we did FD the past two years. Without FD we can't (shouldn't say can't...won't is more accurate) go so I am trying to just have a small glimmer of hope.

Others can confirm, but I think it's right to expect that by changing your reservation to a free dining promotion, you will also be subject to the new package (ticket) pricing because you're effectively creating a new reservation, although they re-use they same confirmation number.

In other words, you're not "adding" the dining plan for free, you're redoing your reservation under a new package that includes free dining.

Mostly accurate most of the time, but there have been errors with dates or included resorts, so you never know. Keep the faith until it is official.

I'm sorry, I might not have seen all to quote. On my phone as we had a transformer fire at our substation and power is out to our part if the county. Really?!!!! Lol, it's getting hot here. As far as why the dates are different I'm not sure. I just copied and pasted what the email said.
On another note....guess what???
Looking at my emails for the pin my dad received the other day got me to thinking...I usually save all of my Disney emails. I checked it and sure enough the old pin my dad got for free dining was still there and not expired. I guess the cm maybe spelled his name wrong or something.
So, I am crossing my fingers that he and my mom will book and go with us. They aren't vacation type people. My dad is a farm hand and knows nothing but hard work. It took two years of asking him for him to go with us back March of 2012. Pray for me please to ask him, find the right package for him, and flight too.
You know what's funny? I walked into the kitchen and said a prayer out loud that something would come along because honestly we were at our max limit with the free dining price. I walked back out of the kitchen sat down at my desk and found the old pin. Is that saying something or what!

I am so happy for you. When I first read your story it touched my heart and I wished there was something I could do to help you out. Now I know what I can do ... I will say a prayer for you so you can convince your parents to travel with you and all get free dining.

Things will work out, you just have to believe

Sure.
We booked through Orbitz and our flight is Delta.
This is my 1st time buying plane tickets.
We bought 4 tickets for $952.80 from Memphis to MCO.
On the way to Disney it's non-stop.
On the way home it's 1 stop for 45min in Atlanta where we will switch planes.
On Sunday we were told by a friend who goes yearly and always flies that the deals we were seeing were crazy good. My husband asked around at work and everyone seemed to agree. We watched the flights and checked all of the travel sights every night for a week. The times kept getting earlier in the morning on leave day and where we had saw non-stop on the way home, there were none anymore. The prices had came up a bit too. We bought them then to avoid any more increases. On Sunday, the 1st day we looked prices were $890. When we booked we paid the $952.

When I called and asked how much it would be to change dates the man I spoke with kind of giggled and said that I'd be paying basically the same price I already had. $230 a ticket x 4. I hung my head, accepted the defeat, mumbled thanks into the phone and we ended the call.

Hope this helps with anyone's choice of airline or travel sites.

You have a PIN code cuz it came to your email but w/his name so how would you be able to apply this to your current reservation? I would try this as well. And multiple times at that. If someone says they can't do it, call back the next day and try again. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of consistency across CMs so it may just be a matter of getting that special someone on the other end of the line.

If you've got an active pin that came to your email address I would definitely pursue that.

LOL about Jan FD rumors.

I'm not typically a fan of DDP. It doesn't really suit my dining style and I can get better discounts RO and just eat the way I normally would.

However because of the last minute decision to go in Oct with my mom (she really wanted to tey F&W), I just went ahead and booked POFQ at rack rate. Well with rack rate and tickets costing the same for a FD package we decided we're going to get up early on the 29th and book to save the money on the adrs we have planned.

Also I have a budget stay planned in Jan because of the convergence of expiring airline credit/points/WDW&SW sales. JUST is morning my mom was saying wonder if Jan has free dining. I am not sure dining in Jan will be the better deal but I did reserve some ADRs just in case.

Yes to this! Tell them you have an email with a pin code. It is to your email. Maybe ask for a supervisor if you don't get anywhere with the phone cm? Try again!

Totally agree with all the others. Does your dad have the same address as you??? If he does, it would be even easier to have PIN applied. Definitely call and don't be satisfied with the first "no." Do room only discounts usually mirror the free dining discount times or are they usually different dates?

My week in Dec doesn't have free dining but I'm holding out hope for a little pre trip magic.
