Free Dining Oct-Dec Is Here!!

I'm sure it would, but I don't know what the room discount usually is. I've never stayed at anything but value. This time we will be at POFQ.
Right now we are at $4420.28. That price is a non-discounted price.
We also want to buy the MVMCP tickets so that adds an additional $270???(I think).

Do you know how much of a discount the RO usually is? The room by itself for our stay is $1498.

POFQ is small and very popular, sometimes the RO there is only 5%.

I think it's usually 20-25 % from what I've seen this year. So maybe a 300-375 discount possibly.

The last year or so discounts for room only at POFQ have been almost non- existent, something like 5%. The resort is so small, and so popular, that they have no problem filling the rooms so aren't inclined to offer much of a discount. In the past, (before the refurbishment with the addition of queen beds), I have gotten room discounts of 30 and 40% there. Unfortunately, I think those days are over and that's why I'm sticking with FD for September even though it's only DH and I this trip. I was seriously considering changed over to October with FD, but bought our plane tickets, couldn't pass up the good price, yesterday, so we're locked in with United Airlines and September. Not that I'm complaining. :)

POFQ gets very little discount. Sometimes it is only 5%, while the other mods get 20-25%.

Have you considered staying offsite and paying OOP for your food? Not ideal, I know, but since you already have flights and money is tight, it may be a good option for you. Best of luck!

For room discount are there any that are rumored right now? And how much for ASMo.

There is one rumored to be coming out around the time of the FD release, as for the percentage at ASMo, it could be anything between 10-20%. BTW, I just posted in the thread you started. :goodvibes

AwayWeGo,

I was just wondering. Are you getting the prices for the flight change fees from their website or have you called them and they told you?

If you haven't called the airline I would say it wouldn't hurt to try. If I was in your shoes I'd call them up and ask what it would cost to change the flights to alternate dates. Have the flight numbers and dates for the alternate flights you would want if it was feasible ready to give them. If they come back with the $900+ amount then give them the whole, "is there anything else I can do?" line.

If they say there is no other option, then at least it was something else you could try.

You just never know where you might find some pixie dust.

Of course, until the actual official announcements come from Disney we're not 100% on the dates so the safe move to be wait to try to change anything until that official announcement comes out.

I did call, but I didn't give them the line, lol. Having never have bought plane tickets before I'm so green to all of it. It can't hurt to call again. :) Thanks!

Can you drop down to a value to save money? That's what we did. We were originally booked at POFQ but dropped down to POP to save money.

We may have to. My heart was set on POFQ. We have only done AllStars in the past, but maybe Pop will be a change with a savings too.

I am looking into it if the Official dates disappoint. I'm still hoping and praying we are included when it comes out. If not, then I may be looking into changing a lot of things, possibly not going to Disney at all and just going to different places in FL. We have never been to the beach or seen the ocean. Surely we could do that for a cheaper price. (Although I don't think people do much swimming in Dec do they?)

Our initial reservation, for October, factoring in what i could figure our airfare to be was about $5500 for 8 days. Our trip inluding our pkg, airfare, PP+, and trip insurance is paid off. I only ended up paying, total, about $3300. I changed from POFQ to POP, dropped from DDP to QSDP, got FD (sorry :(), and am flying out of a smaller airport to save as much as I could. Otherwise I honestly don't know if we'd be going too. I cut as much as I could. And honestly, I got all my savings ideas and suggestions on here. Exhaust every avenue before giving up on your trip. The only reason we wanted a MOD was because of queen beds. Ill sleep in a double for a savings of about $600. If my dh and I couldn't sleep comfortably in a double, which I doubt, we can each sleep with a kid. We'll make it work. Good luck....wishing lots and lots of pixie dust your way. I'd hate to see you have to cancel your trip.

Can't you change your flight for a fee? Surely FD for 4 of you would outweigh the cost of changing 4 tickets? I think the airline I'm using is $75 a ticket but I bought insurance so it's no cost if I had to.

This was what I was thinking as well! I have never changed a flight though so I don't know. I think it might be worth a call and see if they are willing to work with you at all?!:confused3 So frustrating!

Okay I need help deciding if this is worth it or not. I am booked at asMo, for myself my 2 daughters 5,7 and my sister 9. The dates are from November 10-15. I know the free dining isnt suppose to start until the 11th. On the 10th I have Cinderella's Royal Table Booked for Dinner. Is it going to be worth getting the free dining and upgrading it to the Deluxe dining (thats what I have already) and paying out of pocket for Cinderella?

Did you mean upgrading to the regular dining plan or deluxe? I have no experience with either but I have heard from people on these boards say the deluxe can be a whole lot of food and table services. I didn;t know with the ages of the girls if that is too much food or you are just planning a lot of 2ts credit meals/character meals? What other ADRS do you have plannned? :)

I agree with this idea too!:thumbsup2

We have stayed offsite before and it is definately a lower cost option and we still had a fantastic time!!!

They definitely don't give you much time to think about this one...:rotfl2::rotfl2:

I, of course, did not receive one...:headache: but am wondering if they will include deluxes in there? Also, don't they usually run a really good RO dsct historically during that time?

Why are the dates different at the opening paragraph, compared to the dates listed next?

The dates in the second part look like they are the dates used for the example pricing (within the dates of the offer). At least that's my assumption.

Just to let you know, I was in a similar situation to you last year. We could have still gone, but missing out on FD really stunk. We lucked out. Our airline moved one of our flights by 50 minutes and cancelled the other. The flights that they substituted didn't work for us. I called them. The rep told me that if the flight times changed by 45 minutes, we were allowed to change our flights for free. We were even allowed to change dates (just not airports). We ended up getting free dining and really great flights. Maybe this is a possibility for you also.

To change our plane tickets we would pay $230 per person for fees. Total of $920.

Hi AwayWeGo, I forget what the dates are for your purchased plane tickets, but if you only need to shift one day to get free dining, could you change the flight of one of the adults in the party to fly down a day early so that you could check in within the free dining dates? Then the additonal cost would be the change fee of $230 for only one person, plus the cost of one extra night at the hotel, which in total would be less than half of the $920 to change all of the plane tickets. The others would fly in the next day.

But like I said I forget your dates, so if you need to move more than one day my suggestion won't help.

I'm sorry, I might not have seen all to quote. On my phone as we had a transformer fire at our substation and power is out to our part if the county. Really?!!!! Lol, it's getting hot here. As far as why the dates are different I'm not sure. I just copied and pasted what the email said.
On another note....guess what???
Looking at my emails for the pin my dad received the other day got me to thinking...I usually save all of my Disney emails. I checked it and sure enough the old pin my dad got for free dining was still there and not expired. I guess the cm maybe spelled his name wrong or something.
So, I am crossing my fingers that he and my mom will book and go with us. They aren't vacation type people. My dad is a farm hand and knows nothing but hard work. It took two years of asking him for him to go with us back March of 2012. Pray for me please to ask him, find the right package for him, and flight too.
You know what's funny? I walked into the kitchen and said a prayer out loud that something would come along because honestly we were at our max limit with the free dining price. I walked back out of the kitchen sat down at my desk and found the old pin. Is that saying something or what! :)
