Not sure if this is a bit of a silly question but just wanted to check. . .

We are going with Virgin Holidays, staying at POR in Sep 2011, and we booked it before the free dining offers came out. I was aware these offers might appear later but really just wanted to get it booked and wasn't too bothered about the DDP.

DH was checking some details on the manage my booking section today and found that it seems to let him add the Quick Service Dining Plan for no extra charge, but the brochure suggests that we would not be able to add after booking.

Does anyone know if you are able to add free dining after you have already booked?

TIA :)

If you just call Disney they will be able to look up your information and add should be able to add it on easily. I have many many times over the years called Disney or my travel agent and changed my reservation multiple times. The only time it gets tricky is if it's after the due date and the package is already paid for and locked in.

Let me know how you get on as a friend asked me this question the other day and i wasn't sure if she could.

The OP booked through VH though, not Disney. Disney terms and conditions specifically exclude customers from adding special offers to an existing booking. You would have to cancel, forfeit your deposit and rebook.

You need to refer to the VH terms and conditions of booking. The brochure I have is not the latest on so I am reluctant to advise you on this. If you can add it online, I see no harm in trying. You have nothing to lose. Worst case scenario is that you end up with exactly what you have now. :)

So to answer questions:

With Disney UK: No you can't just add it
With Disney US: Yes you can (but you would lose any room discount you may have)
With VH: I don't know - you need to check their current terms and conditions

2 years ago when we got married with booked early with virgin holidays and then free dining came out and we couldnt add it on, they would have to cancel and rebook but it would mean you lose the deposit and it may not be the same price as you have now

Just a quick update on this one - we seem to have been able to add this on without too much problem. To give a bit more background, DH was having a look at his booking to see how much it would be to add the various dining plans and if it would even be possible, and this is how he discovered that it was not adding a charge for the quick service plan.

We have now added the quick service plan to our booking, with only a small admin fee for changing our booking. Still taking it with a pinch of salt though - if we get there and it turns out we don't have it or there are any problems no big deal since we were not originally planning on getting a dining plan, and we will be at WDW :yay:

Thanks for the replies!

Good for you! Are you ready to start planning those ADRs (and maybe make a nice dinner for your DH .... ;);))?

Lol 447 days to go and I have ADRs pretty much planned out ;)

Mind you, they have changed at least 7 times already - I need to stop reading the menus online and looking at the food porn thread!!!

Don't worry, I also booked this trip a long way out. Planning passes the time and contributes to the build up. I just noticed you are staying at POR. Did you keep the QSDP or did you upgrade to the regular DDP?

We kept the quick service plan, we decided that the Quick Service was better for us as we were planning on a number of table service restaurants with or without the plan, the plan will take care of our other two meals for us
