Free Dining Fall 2015? (and a whole lot more)

This whole thread is scaring me! I have always waited for the fall free dining to come out and then book via my TA. After reading all these comments, I am wondering if my favorite resort will have anything for me when and if this promotion comes out? I got worried in January and went to see my TA about this very thing. She talked me out of booking before they promotions come out. She looked at me like I was being a worry wart for nothing, so I didn't prebook at that time. However, even my husband is encouraging me to book now! I have another call in to her about this and will probably prebook anyway. We are thinking about not doing any dining plan this year anyway, but would like the decreased room option. Okay, now that I've ranted, I feel schizo about this. I'll let you know how it works out:)

What means the most to you, the resort or the free dining? if you want a certain resort and you will keep it whether you get free dining there or not, book it now. If you would give up that resort for free dining elsewhere then you might as well wait and see when and where the free dining is.

I think free dining turns most of us a little schizo, myself included! I feel your pain. It's taking everything I have to not book my room but hold strong! Only a little longer!

my family is not going back until 2016 so I have to vicariously enjoy the excitement for others DISers when they FD at their preferred resort. :-)

I'm right there with you, not checking in until Sept. 2016 :) Just trying to see what happens this year so I have a better understanding for my battle next year!

The rep I spoke to told me the complete opposite... They told me to book at CBR and not POR if I was going to book. Isn't it funny how they have different opinions!

With the bounce back offers.. Can you transfer them to someone else????

OK, I am officially jumping on the "waiting for Free Dining" bandwagon. This year our trip is 11/8 - 11/15, which we booked at BC with a bounceback offer. I just did the math and figured that FD would save us over $1000 this year because now both DDs are Disney Adults and we're bringing DSIL for her first trip.
So here's hoping for great pixie dust for everybody. pixiedust:

I think Grumpuhaus said the same thing as you. Am I reading that wrong? Are you referring to some other post?

I don't think I'll be able to hold my husband back longer than the 19th. That's the day before our ADR window opens. He was wanting to book this past weekend.

I`m planning to book from October 24th to October 31st.

If we go by what was offered last year October 24th is out of the promotional period and I`m not eligble for the plan... I've read a way around this is to book two seperate trips (24th and 25th - 31st)... Would I do that today assuming those exceptions happen or would they be able to seperate my trip so I can take advantage of this potential promotion?

The other option is to book from the 25th to the 1st but then my kids would miss Halloween at home... Besides Mickeys Halloween Party (which would likely be insanely busy on the 31st) is there any other halloween activities for the kids?

It might seem weird but I would hate to miss out on them trick or treating since they only have 4 or 5 years where they are genuinely into it and not just in it for the candy.

OT as I've only had a few posts here but Id just like to say how informative this board has been for me... I can't imagine trying to do this without a resource like this.

Not to beat a dead horse, but it doesn't matter where you're booked or if you're booked at all.

When/if free dining happens, you have to book a new reservation (and cancel the old if you have one). It doesn't just get added.

That being said, we're booked at POR, because we're going no matter what. *might move to CBR if there isn't FD at POR. (Quite a few reasons why we booked in advance of FD.)

Hello,

My family and I are anxiously waiting for FD as well. We have been to WDW the last two years, but have never stayed at a moderate resort ( POP w/ FD both times ) We like the value resorts coming from Canada as our dollar isn't as strong as it once was, but would like to consider staying at one this time around. ( looking to book in Sept ) Is it worth paying the extra cost? Do people that stay at moderate generally feel like the are getting their monies worth or is it better to stay at a value resort? There are just 3 of us in our family ( son is 11 yo )

TIA

We feel like a Moderate is a good value... if there's free dining (because of the sit-down meals). Not sure I'd pay for the upgrade if there wasn't free dining. My kiddo would disagree...but he just loved the slide..haha.

It works best for our family of four. But, we truly love POP and without free dining, we'd stay there for sure. This trip there are five of us...so we only really have a mod as a choice (or a suite at a value).

I mean, MNSSHP has trick or treating... obviously its a little different than going to house to house, but they still walk around to different locations in the poark and collect their candy. If it doesnt bother your kids missing out on Halloween at home then I'd go for the Oct 25-Nov 1 option...

Well it depends what your looking for. If you plan on doing table service restaurants then its totally worth doing the moderate because you will get the free regular dining plan. If you stay value you will only get the free QS plan and have to pay for those TS meals out of pocket or pay to upgrade to the regular plan. I'd run the cost of both packages and see whats most beneficial.

We stay Value every time because every penny saved counts for us. There are four of us that visit. Honestly? We're not in our room or at the resort enough for me to pay the extra ( I priced it out both ways) and our kids would rather be DOING things in the parks then sitting down at a table restaurant so they're all perfectly pleased with just quick service dining too.

I'm joining this thread as we're anxiously praying for the FD release. Our last trip was 2013 and due to school schedules fall of 2015 will be our last chance to come in the until after 2018 also. If FD doesn't happen, we're looking at other vacation options because we just don't do WDW without it.
