Free Dining Booking Window Extended

How about extending the time they are offering the discount? :rotfl2:

We reserved a room at the Yatch Club, 9/9 - 9/16, and the person we talked to REALLY talked up the free dining. Is it as WONDERFUL as they say? I cannot get to the page on the Disney site that shows exactly which places you can use this dining option. Any and all thoughts, suggestions, ideas are GREATLY appreciated.

ps-- this will be our 5th trip to Disney, we love it! Just not sure about this free dining option, or am I looking a gift horse in the mouth:)

We did the free dining last September, and it was great! It convinced my DH to go to WDW after we had just been because he knew upfront how much in would cost. The dining plan is great if you eat at least one table service meal or character meal per day (that's if you are paying for it) - free is even better! The free dining saves $38 per day per adult and $11 per day per child 3-9 - almost $100 per day for a family of four. The actual savings are higher if you eat well - our dinner at Sppodles was over $250 for four adults and three kids - nice to not have to pay for it! The catch is you pay rack rate for your room to get free dining, so compare the dining savings with the savings you might get for your room with an AP, AAA or other discount. If you save more with free dining, go for it!

You can use the dining plan almost everywhere, although some meals are two table service credits (California Grill, Jiko, Hoop De Doo Revue, there are others). Check allearsnet.com or mousesavers for a complete listing of restaurants.

The free dining is priceless. There are over 100 participating restaraunts. There are so many choices and it's a lot of food. There is just no reason not to do it. It adds a whole other dimension to your vacation. Just do it! You will not reqret it. You can do character meals and the dinner shows. Even the fantasmic package is on the dining plan.

Here is a link to all of the dining plan info, including where you can eat:

We just returned from our first trip and were on the dining plan. It was AWESOME!!! It was sooo worth it and actually saved us money or we would have broken even by only eating counter service meals. I added up our receipts and divided it by the 8 days we were there. We would have spent an average of $190 per day had we paid out-of-pocket. Counter service meals were around $40 - $50 for the four of us. Dinners were between $120 and $190 including tax and tip. The tax and tip alone one night was $40.00 that we didn't have to pay! Also, don't forget about the snacks which were around $10 per day that we didn't have to pay.

Now, had we not done the dining plan, we would have easily spent $110 a day eating chicken fingers and fries for 8 days! That would have gotten old. So, in the long run, we really made out good. We were also able to get appetizers and desserts. Our favorite places were 50s Prime Time (MGM) and Planet Hollywood in Downtown Disney (sit-down meals). Our favorite counter service meal was at Flame Tree BBQ in AK where we had ribs, corn & baked beans.

The only drawback (if you want to call it that) is that you have to make your reservations well in advance for the sit-down meals. So, you need to plan out which parks you'll be in so you know where to eat your sit-down meals. We ate early lunches and early dinners so that we didn't have long wait times for our tables. We waited no longer than 5 minutes for each reservation once we arrived at each restaurant.

First, thank you for the link to the Disney dining, but I can not get there!!!!! My computer is telling me that the link is NOT there!!! URgggghhhh!! Frustrating, very frustrating.

Now, at the risk of sounding extremely naive, what's this I hear about AAA and AP discounts? How (for future reference) do I find out about these? What are they? We have never gotten any discounts during our stays at Disney? What are these about? And I understand that the discounts would not be available during the free dining (and given that we've never had them, we wouldn't miss them). But for the future, it would be nice to know:)

And I checked, my acrobat reader (5.0) is working...I'm having one of THOSE days I guess.

Nancy N.,

Here is the link for Disney Dining at allearsnet.com:

http://allearsnet.com/pl/packages06a.htm

If that doesn't work, go to allearsnet.com, click on the first page where it says Booking Deadline Extended, then click for For Info About Disney's Dining Plan (at the end of the June 2006 entry, just before May 2006 starts). The list of restaurants is near the bottom of the page, and there are many FAQ's about the dining plan that might help you decide.

AAA offers discounts off the room rate for Disney Resorts - usually 10-20% off rack rate depending on the resort and time of year. If you stay more than a few days, it will be enough to pay for your AAA membership (plus you get the usual AAA member benefits). Disney also sometimes offers discounts for Annual Pass (AP) holders, Florida Residents, and sometimes the rest of us. You can check this board (Codes and Rates) for any deals during the time you are traveling.

Hope this helps!

Thank you!! Thank you. I found the information, and will print it out. It does include -- for table service -- many of the places we would go to anyway, so I guess this IS a good deal.

I will look into the AAA for future trips.

Does that mean we're going to have to wait longer to find out the new promotion? :confused3 I'm sitting on pins and needles to find out what kind of discount Disney will offer for Nov. The wait cont. pirate:

I would say it means they are more likey to be offering other deals a this could not have got the number of bookings that they wanted.

I went on the Disney website today because I am thinking about changing the hotel I am staying at in July. I am staying at Pop Century, but I was thinking about staying at a moderate, but the rate is too high for me so I am staying with Pop.

While I was using the site I noticed that they don't have the extension of the free dining plan listed. They still have book the dining plan by June 4th. Anyone else notice it?

I guess if Disney is extending the time that people could book the free dining, they didn't get as many as they wanted. Good luck to all the people that can go during that time period. My time is tied up and the only time I could go is July.

Yes, I noticed that too. But I am sure that the website just has not been updated yet because I asked when I called CRO yesterday and all of the major Disney websites are reporting this booking extension.

:)
