Free Dining Announcement by April 12

Good to know. I'm still holding out hope that those dates everyone keeps talking about are wrong and it includes earlier in August too :-)

I just spoke to my AAA agent in person. She said that Disney told her she would be getting a flyer about free dining on the 12th - the day the offer starts. She also said that I would not need to rebook. She said the Disney agent told her they would simply add the free dining to our existing reservation "if we qualified.":cloud9:

I would assume it would be a package at full rake rate, anything discounted would not get this applied.

Free dining last year was offered for all resort classes. I remember because we went 2 months before it was offered and the Cast Member from WDT was trying to get us to change our dates to get free dining. We were in All Star Movies and it would have been included. The thing is, all the deluxes sell out real fast when free dining is offered because it saves people so much money that they upgrade to a deluxe. The moderates sell out quick also. We were gonna change out dates to free dining but the moderate and deluxes we wanted were sold out. The question is......Is it just a certain ammount of rooms they offer the promotion with?[/QUOTE]

Yes, only a set number of rooms will be set aside for the package.

Someone may call to book the free dining at GF for 8/26-8/31. They may not be able to book it. However, someone looking to book a rack rate MYW dining package may be able to book those dates. There may be rooms available, but that doesn't room allotted for the package will be available.

I wouldn't trust this information. There will be plenty of people there who could have booked the free plan but weren't aware of it.

I really doubt if the CRO CMs will go through all those bookings and switch everyone who is paying for the dining plan to the free package.

DisneyJunkie:

I think you misunderstood my post. They will obviously not convert all the existing reservations. What my TA was saying was that when she called Disney, we would not have to rebook my reservation. The Disney agent told her that when she called and requested the free dining that it could be added to my existing reservation without rebooking it.

I hope I'm being more clear than I was earlier.....It's been a long day.

She said that she didn't know who would qualify. Disney told her she would be receiving a flyer with details on the 12th.

I just called CRO and tried to book a package using the pin code. It is "room only" code. No DDP allowed I have no idea if that's significant or not, but since I was trying to book for 9/18, it may be due to free dining??
mirthmaiden -- CRO sells Room Only. And room only means just that. Room Only.
WDTC sells travel packages, which include DDP and any other package components.

I called WDTC 1-800-828-0228

Sorry, I thought that was the same thing as CRO. He told me my pin code was a room-only code and that I could not add dining to it. I may call back and speak with a supervisor as disneyjunkie recommended. I want a second opinion

Depending on availability, you could most likely cancel your room only and book a WDTC package.

I have read on several posts that Disney offers the free dining plan usually the same time each year. During what times do they usually offer it?

Also, if I book a package with the dining plan and then later find out that the dining plan is offered free during my stay how would I get the free plan. Do I need to cancel and rebook? Or will they automatically deduct the amount I paid for dining and give me the free dining.

Really hope that it will be offered when I am going. It would save me like $900.00

Thanks
Dottie

I too am on the verge of booking for September, but now think I should wait until the 12th to do so. What happens, will they reimburse me anyway or just add it on?? My sister and her family went this time last year and also were offered the free DP, we had to pay in December:headache: - but it was worth every penny!!!

In regard to the deluxe resorts, I can offer the following:

When we booked the Bounce Back promotion in mid December, for our August trip, there were no rooms available for our first choice of dates at the Polynesian. It was not clear whether the entire resort was booked solid, or if the number of rooms allocated for both the British free dining and the Bounce Back free dining had been spoken for (regardless of any speculation, that's a question that only Disney could answer). We were fortunate to have flexibility, and by moving our arrive date one day back there was availability. The key is that regardless of whether there are a set number of rooms or not, it's a fact that the smaller capacity resorts will book fast.

Best wishes everyone - get those fingers ready for some early, speedy dialing on the 12th!

Just thinking out loud folks....

Wouldn't it be in Disney's best interest to announce if they will or will not have the free dining plan.

If they don't announce anything then they risk losing reservations (for the people that were hoping to get the free DDP).

If they announce that they will have the plan, then I'm sure bookings will increase.

All I'm saying is that there should be some sort of announcement from disney (they're offering it or not offering it)...don't offer something for the last two years and then say nothing in year three.

I don't think they need to announce it. Sure it would be nice, but I don't think they would lose many reservations if it's not offered. I can't imagine that people would take the time to plan and book a vacation package on the 'chance' of free dining.

We have!! Four families - we've made all our dining ressies and everything - in the hopes of free dining.:)

Now, we will still go in the fall if it's not offered. But everything will change! We won't go until October, we'll stay at Shades of Green, and we will only eat at one or two table service restaurants.

Has anyone wondered that if everyone's booking now in hopes of free dining then maybe Disney won't offer it because they won't see the need of offering it to fill the rooms. Just a thought....

All I know is that we are coming down in Sept. for 11 days and are booked at the All - Stars Sports so I am hoping and praying that when this does come out (DDP) that all I have to do is call and let my agent Joyce at K.M.V. and let her know (if she doesn't already know) that the package deal is out and please add it to our package.:woohoo:

Thanks everyone.
