Can you upgrade from the quick service dining plan (if staying at Art of Animation) to the deluxe dining plan? I assumed you could? :confused3

Absolutely! I meant to go back and add that I forgot! Thanks for the catch!:goodvibes

The price per adult (10 and up) per night to upgrade from quick to deluxe is $67.54 and for children (3-9) is $13.83 (plus tax) : )

Yes, you can pay the difference of $71.93 (after tax) per adult per day.

Thank you........for this answer and for ALL you do!!! After free dining is released and you are proven correct, I hope you can sit back and relax and know that you made a lot of people REALLY happy!! :thumbsup2:goodvibes

Hey guys,

New poster. Going for my 11th Disney trip in September and I booked it banking on free dining. I'm really hopeful! I know we got the memory maker add-on this year which is kinda cool but obviously free dining is where it's at. My trip is September 4th-12th at CBR. I've been reading the thread but it's hard to keep up. What's the latest assumption?

Your dates and resort look good!:thumbsup2 And, Welcome!

Oh yes last year was a mess.

Remember these things are like reading tealeaves...very fluid indeed. It's an art, science, and insanity all rolled into one.

Keep in mind, I've seen date estimates that start as late as Sept 1 and end as late as Oct 1. My initial estimate months ago was starting Sept 1; however, after the current summer offer extended out until Aug 28, it seems a bit odd they would only leave a couple days out. Either way, my estimate stands as Aug 29-Sept 24...give or take a day or two. That should cover the bases for now.

Oh, and don't shoot the messenger....ever....please. I mean, last year I wore a cowboy hat and now look at me (see photo to left). In all seriousness though, since Monday, I have ran a fever, developed a fever blister, and taken a sick day off work....stress is a nightmare.

Please don't stress! We need a healthy Joe!

And if anyone starts giving you a hard time, you send them to me!

Great advice. Definitely. :) We appreciate what you do. A lot of pressure. If the promo I am hoping and praying for doesn't come when anticipated (or ever), I won't shoot the messengers. And we are still going to go to Disney. We appreciate all you do. This is a huge part of the fun and anxiety and craziness that is planning. Can't say thank you enough - I am only planning for a party of 4. Can't imagine the pressure you feel! Did I mention thank you? pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

I just wanted to echo this statement. Thank you Black for the information that you provide and thank you to fellow DISers for making the 6 months of planning and waiting a lot more fun!

I booked 2 rooms back in Feb. The date we are leaving is Sept. 28, it's my understanding that this date may be included with the fall offer, which would be a bummer :( Should I still keep my rese and just wait until Jul/Aug?

If by chance the date listed is released in this round, and FD is not available for my resort, again should I still keep my rese, as something may open up for FD?

A good reason only one of two from here should call initially to ask....while sitting on the boards ready to type a post. Once told yes or no, they can immediately let everyone know.

Don't worry, we're pretty much the only ones that would call that early, so nothing would be lost.

Those of us on that thread eventually streamlined our calling to do just that. One or two would call each morning and the rest of us would just check the thread. Then, a dozen or so of us exchanged cell #s and man oh man, when the sept party dates opened up, my phone was a buzzin'!!!

Following this thread! I have a lion king suite at AOA reserved for September 8 through the 14th. Would it be safe to say that my room will not be excluded? If I moved to ASMU would free dining still be available for those resorts as long as I was booking a suite

Hi everyone! Can someone pop over to the FD anonymous thread and answer my question? Can figure our how to copy it on my cell and too tired to re ask. Lol. Thanks!

Joe/Black lists the AOA Family Suites on his list on page one. No way to know how many rooms might be available. Probably best to wait to see what the FD details are and have backup choice (s) ready just in case. I think the Nemo Suites were in short supply last year for FD.

Seems like almost everyone on here has already booked their rooms. I am still holding out for free dining before I book!!

I think I will wait otherwise if a percentage of the rooms are already booked what is the incentive for WDW to give the FD discount? If anything they will probably reduce the number of rooms that are on offer.:coffee:

I am a passholder but planning to go at the end of September. Is it more beneficial to buy tickets in order to qualify for the free dining or use a room discount and pay for dining? I am crunching numbers now, but wondering if anyone has been in the same predicament.

No worries, sorry if I came across a little testy. Your analysis was spot on by the way. I was just wondering about the propriety of booking a second package if the online booking opens 7 hours in advance of when I can call about my existing reservation.

Not sure if you had mentioned if you were a Visa holder or not but thought it is worth mentioning that when or if it's offered early to Visa holders it will not be online. Early Visa offers have to be via phone whether new ressie or change to existing.

I am holding out also. Seems like the advice to wait (if you can) makes since. I am trying to behave... Am also going to try to refrain from oversaturating the phone lines in the morning. So if the boards light up with the news of a good announcement, I am ready to go with my primary, back up, secondary back up, third back up, and fourth fall back plans. LOL. I love planning vacations!!!!

good question.. it depends on a lot of things. how you normally eat, what your priorities are, etc.

we were AP holders when we went with the "free" dining discount in dec 2013. so we purchase the 2 day tickets which we have not yet used. we had a sprintg tri[p after that, in which we also did not use these tickets. our AP expired the day after our spring 2013 trip. in fall we visited DL.

this spring we will use out unused tickets from dec 2013 once. at that time, we will "bridge" them to our 2014 annual passes.

we are hoping for "free" dining in the fall. at which point we will be forced to , again, purcahse 2 day tickets we don't need. which we will use in about a year and a half (we figure, if you time it right, doing 2 trips a year, you can get 3 trips out of one AP) but it won't always work out with the "free" dining and the 2 day tickets.

for just the 2 of us, we really would be better off getting a room only discount and paying for meal out of pocket.. we really only eat one big meal a day. we don't get our money's worth out of buffets anymore (we are 57 and 59).

HOWEVER!!! I am a server and to me it is a BIG treat to be served. to not have to look at the prices on the menu and order what I want, etc. but would we eat that way normally? no. when we used to drive down (diminishing eyesight has made that undoable now:sad2:) we used to bring down bread and lunchmeat and mac salad, etc. and eat a lot of meals in the room. bring a lot of snacks, etc. and splurge on a few sit down meals an da few counter service meals.

that first free dining they offerred was great!!! included appetizers AND the tip! (as a server, I tip 20%, so that was a HUGE savings for us! we only had to add 2%.. but sometimes I added more;))
but now that we have been so often, I love the meals, the relaxation, etc. families with kids could save a lot more than we do.. esp. if you want the character buffets anyway.

uopi have to first look at what you would spend anyway. then do the "disney math" (I am waiting for "common core" to include "disney math" in their curriculum:rotfl2:)
