Free Dining 2014 Discussion ~ Part 3

Ok, I have a question. I booked CBR for November 15-23 and then my DH came home from work this morning and told me he was able to get a couple of more days off. So, now we can go the 13-23. I called Disney and the only rooms left are the pirate rooms. At the time, I was thinking I would have to switch my entire reservation for pirate rooms but I saw others posting about split stays so am I able to add two days for the pirate room and keep the standard room for the rest of my trip? I would call and asked but I ws on hold forever earlier and I figured someone on here would know! Thanks!
Yes you can. We are in a similar situation. We decided to fly in late a day earlier than our original reservation. The extra day was within the FD dates, but it was not available. So we booked a RO for one night. All that was available for that night was a water view and the rest of our stay is standard. I had them link the reservation and put in a request that the one night be "downgraded" to standard view despite what I had paid for, in the hopes we won't have to physically change rooms. Since we will only be there one night we won't even unpack. Might not even ask for bags to be delivered since we get in so late (but still before 10) so as not to deal with that hassle, and pack what we need for the one night in our carry ons.
It is a bit of a minor hassle, but extra time makes it worth it! Plus we get an extra set of magic bands with the separate reservation! (If you are in to coordinating with your outfits, that's a plus!) also, my CM said to check in a few months to see if a discount can be applied to that reservation, and of course, keep checking to see if FD opens up and that night could just be added to the original reservation.

I have been on hold for 4 hours to convert a Bounce Back to Free Dining. I was just put back on hold as she said the computers were down and there was no option but to hold. She said 4,5, and 6 hour holds were the normal today. I find that a little hard to believe. I feel forgotten.

When you say convert a BB to free dining - what do you mean? I'm booked on a BB and I was originally given an option of FD or RO. I've been wondering if I can change a BB from RO to FD. Is that what you're referring to?

I don't think it was "me" personally. I've made it quite clear that I only gather the information. So lets round out the crazy places.

1. The "May 1" date came from a TA Facebook board that I can't even find, but it was relayed to me.

2. The date ranges came from a South American Facebook TA board that I also can't find, but was posted on another Facebook page for the world to see by an anonymous reader.

3. The excluded resorts came from...oh yeah, haha Chase Visa.

In the past, many things were leaked on foreign speaking forums and message boards. It's rather amusing how easy it is to find.

So if anyone thinks I'm some kind of inside track that has a buddy at Disney....sorry. I gather info, I post what I find. It could all be wrong, but ya know.....what happens happens.

Oh and by the way, we got thread of the month for April. :cool1:

Black - what do you think about how quickly all of the resorts were selling out. Usually you can find FD rooms for weeks or months. Did they scale back how many rooms they reserved for the offer?

No way of knowing for sure. I would say they probably had less rooms. From the sounds of it, the hold times were similar to the past. :confused3

I know I speak for loads of people when I genuinely say, Thank you. I appreciate you sharing information with all of us Disney freaks.

You're pretty Awesome in my book! Thanks Joe! :thumbsup2

I do the best I can with what I find.

Of course they can change all the info if they want...it's theirs to change. :confused3

My BB was just for a RO. To get FD, I had to let go of the BB offer and just go with the FD general offer. Hope that helps. I had to go through the BB line but the deposit rolled over to the FD offer.

Same situation but was told my original BB deposit would be refunded in 1-2 billing cycles, and had to put down a new deposit.

I never wanted to make anyone at Disney angry. That's not my intent.

I search the net for this sort of information, but if this is angering the folks up top, perhaps I should stop doing so.

Last thing I want is for the mouse to be angry.... :confused3

I have to believe that if Disney didn't want any of the info out there, they could keep the info a little bit tighter to the vest.

I hate to think that you have been upset by all of this, I hope you know how much all of us appreciate what you do!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

I would think so too....but who knows.

If you followed this thread, you saw it develop as I edited the first post. First it was predictions and forecasts....then a date leaked out on Facebook and I brought that over....then more dates on Facebook, etc... It was all over the internet. :confused3

I must say...props to those of you who waited on hold for hours yesterday. I am at around forty minutes and keep getting overtaken by feelings of violent rage. ANSWER IT! Do it!!!!:furious: Never have had much in the patience department.

I'm sorry but your post mad me laugh....I can so relate....lol
You're not still on hold, are you?

If I had not started reading this thread a month ago I would have never known how FD is released. Because of this I was absolutely prepared for Wednesday morning and was able to get my 2nd choice resort. Which I was prepared for because of.... again, this thread. Big thank you to Black and those who took the time to keep us all updated. Otherwise I would be among the countless other people who find out about free dining over the next few weeks and don't have much to choose from.

So, again, thank you!!!!!

I would think so too....but who knows. For that matter, I am not trying to hide, I would be more than happy to speak to Disney, just to let them know that this info was out there and out there in quite a few places. If you followed this thread, you saw it develop as I edited the first post. First it was predictions and forcasts....then a date leaked out on Facebook and I brought that over....then more dates on Facebook, etc... I mean, aside from letting them know where the info was, I'm not sure they could track it any further than I could. :confused3

At the end of the day, I am not sure why this would even hurt disney at all??! I suspect all the speculation and excitement is only GOOD for their business! So, Joe, they should be thanking you!

I know I am jumping in late on this post, but I am new to the boards and Disney and have no idea what the free dining is about...Can anyone get it if they are staying on property? We just became DVC members as well as just annual passholders :) Is the FD available to us?

Thank you :)
