Free Dining 2008 Watch

Wildirishrose, would you also post details of what you did to get (hopefully) the DP extended through your stay? :goodvibes

I'm thinking things like -- did you have a package booked first? Did they make you cancel and re-book (would you ask?) or just apply the plan to it.

la la,... i'm sorry! I'm being pushy and I'm just curious! I haven't even decided between my 2 choice dates yet eihter :-) Since a Labor day trip is possible it's not cruicial to me to be able to go Sept 19-27 :-) but I sure would LIKE to!
THANKS! :wizard: for spreading the magic :)

Found below on another message board. The poster was talking about the earlier post from our friend merlinspride and the confirmed FD dates. According to the post below, if you check in before the ending date of the promo you will receive the free dining for your whole trip. I am hopeful but of course with so much going around I will be happy to hear it right from a CM's mouth to my anxious ear as she/he puts me down for my free dining reservation. Thank you everyone for your hard work in finding out what you can to help our Free Dining anxiety!

*******(post from another board)*******Hi Everyone! I haven't posted in quite a long time, but often lurking and keeping up on things. I also read that same post about 2 hours ago. I too have been anxiously awaiting the possible release of Free Dining! For myself and 2 clients. So after reading that I decided to make a call. I called the disney travel agent # and spoke with a disney rep. She stated that they had just recieved the info this morning. The dates she gave me were the same as the other poster had stated. 8/24/08 - 9/20/08. I was so happy to actually get a positive response (called a few days ago and the rep was rude, bothered and claimed to know nothing about free dining) that I forgot to ask for the actual codes. Sorry! But I did remember to ask about final check in dates for the offer. She said "as long as your client checks in by 9/20/08, they will recieve free dining for their entire stay." I went over everything twice with her before I hung up to make sure I had the correct info. The booking dates are also correct. 4/7 for Disney Visa, and 4/10 for general public. Just wanted to pass along some positive "almost" official info. Hope this helps.
Heather

I sure hope that is true.....that if you book in before the 20th you can have the FDDP for the whole time!!

Because I am not really
happy that it is over by the 20th! That is too early!

So to clarify---with 2008 Free Dining--it will be just the "basic" dining plan?
So that is:
1 counter service beverage, entree, dessert
1 table service beverage, entree and dessert
and one snack a day?

WOOOOO HOOOOO!!!!!:cool1: :cool1:

That would be totally awesome if we can get FD for our entire stay!!!

I hope so, too, but I can be flexible. I just want to keep with my original dates if possible because I got good ADRs. :)

yes, free dining is the basic plan.

I'm flexable about resorts and dates, but I PREFER 9/20

So if we can do free dining I'll go do 9/20-9/28

my dates are the 12th - the 21st...think they will let me slide one night?

That's my question, too!!

We'll be there from the 13th-21st. My argument would be that the 20th is our last night, and the plan is attached to the nights of the trip....so gimme! :rolleyes1

Hey, if they do let us have that last day, we should meet on the 21st and have a celebratory free lunch at Earl of Sandwich! :rotfl:

and no one has heard word about the values being included?

Since they haven't been excluded in year's past, we can only assume they will be included again this year. Hopefully that was just for the UK promo. Again, we are at the mercy of Monday, April 7 at 7am EST.

I am hopeful for values and extending past the 20.

since we already have nonrefundable airfare we booked when it was really on sale for Sept 24-30 because we were going off the dates for the other promotions I think we are out of luck. The change fee for the airline would most likely take away any savings we would get from free dining.

Can this be booked both by phone & online ??

Will there be any rooms left for us having to wait till April 10th?

My family of 7 are looking to stay at either Beach Club, Boardwalk or
Wilderness Villas-

I've not tried this before-

I'm really hoping it will go through to the end of our stay -- 9/19-9/26. We unfortunately CAN'T be flexible with our dates (can't get any other time off work, had to request this week of vacation last November), and already bought plane tickets. So I've got my fingers crossed...and now I've gotta wait...some more...

We are booked from Aug 12-27. Would we get free dinning then for the beginning of our stay also assuming the dates for FD started on the 24th, or would we have to book two different stays? That news is awsome, hoping it is true.:woohoo:

Again no one has answered me. Can I still keep my ressie with AAA and add the free dining? Also does anyone know at what time you can start calling Monday? Would it 12:01 am est? or 7am or 9 am?

If AAA made your reservation, then your AAA travel agent will have to make the call for you or you will have to call at 7:00 and make a new reservation on your own and have your TA cancel the one you have with them.

Again, many of the questions being asked by posters cannot be answered yet because we really don't know what will be offered yet. Until the promotion is actually posted by Disney, all we have is rumors and supposition.

We're in the same boat I think. My understanding is, you do not get free dining for any of the dates before the official promo begins, only from the time it starts. In our case, we are booked for Aug 19 to the 29. The break down would be:

--Aug 19-24, 10 day ticket + hopper, DDP, value resort, 3 adults $1899.25
--Aug 24-29, 1 day ticket, free DDP, value resort for three adults $693.61

Because you have to treat both time periods as seperate reservations, & in order to get the free DDP you need to purchase a "package", including tickets, I'm just not going to save very much at all!! At best, I'll save about $300 with the "free" DDP. Unfortuantly Disneymucks, you will save even less, if any, with only a three day free DDP.

If I'm wrong on this, PLEASE correct me!!!

YES u're wrong! haha....you can get a room only from 19-24 w/ no tickets and then get the 10day ticket with the free dining room since it requires at least 1 day ticket...you'll save about $200 right there....also correct me if i'm wrong tho

Right.....but than what are we supposed to do for the first five days of our holidays? Let's get real. No one is going to go to Disney for the first half of their vacation with no way to get into the parks.

Thanks for the correction though. LOL!
