I was just looking at the new Navigator, and saw something about the free diamond studs and $50 gift vouchers for attending some kind of talk. Does anyone know what that is about?

Don't know about them but hope they're better than the "free Diamond Studs" we got coupons for taking the trip into the Diamond shop in Playa del Carmen. They had a little spot of silver plating and you couldn't see the diamond with a magnifying glass! So I wouldn't get you hopes up

"Chips" make them sound bigger than they actually are!! LOL

We're on the same cruise. I got a bunch last year for my mom because she sets jewelry. The diamonds are a speck but they are set in a larger setting with something metallic looking around them to make them look bigger. Mom's going to use the settings, get rid of the specks. On St. Martin, they did also have free tanzanite earrings and those were a bit bigger.

The free diamond earrings really do have diamonds... cute little baby diamonds. They make great stocking stuffers or gifts for small children.

Don't forget to go to the various seminars on the ship. The Shopping in Paradise person (probably Clyde...who is very nice) usually gives out several prizes. At the Shopping seminar it could be tee shirts, frisbees, hairclips, etc....but at the Gemstones and Jewelry seminar, we registered to win a diamond tennis bracelet....and my husband WON!!! Needless to say that my hubby was quite pleased with his ability to get me an anniversary present without having to struggle through endless hours of shopping.

The $ 5 tanzanite earrings are also very cute!

Happy shopping!!

If its jewelry (and free) - I'm there! Plus talking about shopping (my hobby) - how much better can it get!!!

By the way, where do I get the $5 tanzanite earrings? Can you buy more than one?

Tracey

I think the $5 studs were at Tanzanite Intl, but if you go to the Gemstone & Jewelry seminar, you'll find out (plus -- you could win a fabulous prize!). I think you can buy 4 pair per person.

:D
Have fun!!

Why b/c you can hardly see them!!!!!

This thread brought back one of my best memories from our 1st cruise. We did DCL Eastern and attended the shopping lecture onboard for St Maarten. I picked up every coupon they offered and I was so excited to get free "diamond" earrings. I had coupons for several stores.

I found it a little embarressing to just walk into the stores and ask for the "free" earrings so I made my husband look around each store before I would ask for them. He hates to shop. When we approached the last shop I suggested that since he just wanted to walk in and get the earrings and leave, he should go in himself and I would wait outside for him.

You have to picture my husband...subtle as a bull in a china shop. He entered the store and I could see him speaking with a salesman and pointing out the door and across the street to where I was standing. When he came out of the store I asked him what that was all about.

He said he told the salesman that his wife had sent him in for the free earrings and he just wanted to get out of the store so could he just give him the earrings!

I was so embarressed! I wet myself laughing all the way back to the ship!

BTW, the earrings are tiny. But free is free.

Sandygirl - when I was younger my parents took my brother and I to an all-you-can-eat schmorgasboard at a Marriot restaurant in New Jersey (yes, folks, it was 20-minutes from the Lincoln Tunnel - lol). My brother and I had never been to something like this before. I enjoyed the variety of salads, soups, appetizers and so on. Contrary to our parents' wishes my brother dined on 17 desserts. My point? Umm, wait a sec. There WAS a point. Oh yes. Never feel embarrassment at accepting what is offered. If you want it, go for it. Heck, my brother didn't embarrass me by eating what the restaurant offered. I wasn't even embarrassed when he got sick in the parking lot...

PS - love the story about DH!

Did you ever go back to that Marriot? Poor Bro.

You are absolutely correct and I will think of you next time I am in a similar situation. I'll just remind myself that Buckaroo's Dad said I should not be embarressed to accept what is offered.

Glad you are home, BD.
