My daughter found this job post for DCL on Monster.com. Just think, you can have the best of both worlds - cruise Disney and make money too.
The funny thing is, she was trying to help me, since I am in a career transition. But when she read the description below and saw the part about being able to learn dance routines, that killed that idea!
US-FL-Shipboard Position-Cruise Staff
JOB DESCRIPTION
This position requires the individual to live and work onboard either the Disney
Magic or Disney Wonder cruise ship
This position requires a contract commitment of 18 weeks onboard the ship with 6
weeks off
Perform meet and greet functions in the lobby during guest embarkation. Perform
farewell activities upon guest disembarkation.
Set up for all activities that will be facilitated and then clean-up upon completion of
activities.
Facilitate activities for adults and families including sport challenges, bingo,
introduction of guest speakers, pool games, card/board games, and related.
Involves following scripts, but also ad libbing as necessary.
Act as mentor for new crewmembers
Must be available, friendly, and Guest Service oriented at all times
Assist in recreational activities on Castaway Cay, Disney¡¦s private island, as
scheduled. May include boat rental, snorkel rental, and snorkel instruction.
Function as emcee for a variety of on-board game shows for families and adults.
Will include heavy microphone and stage presence in order to create appropriate
atmosphere for the activity. May also function as ¡§assistant¡¨ who backs up the
emcee.
Function as host or participant of sail-away and other related deck parties.
Assist in maintaining appropriate guest flow in all areas (i.e. inform guests on
other onboard activities to ensure adequate guest participation).
Host various venues to ensure quality guest experience.
Escort guest on shore excursions as the Disney quality representative.
Selling of shore excursion activities to Guests
Assist in facilitating children¡¦s activities as required.
REQUIREMENTS
College degree or related schooling relating to recreation, education, or related
field of study preferred
Exceptional presentation, communication (oral and written) and organizational
skills
Relates well to audiences of all ages and sizes, including using a microphone
Strong team skills, detailed, flexible, and committed to Guest Satisfaction
Passion and enthusiasm for engaging adults in entertaining programs and events
Proficient English skills required. Multiple languages, a plus
Ability to seek out Guest contact and enjoy being outgoing with people,
enthusiastic, and self-motivated
CPR and first aid certification will be needed
Strong aptitude to learn dance routines and to dance in a club style setting
Must have boundless energy to deal with high-volume guest activities
