Free After Hours Event for DVC members

Problem is you don't know if they will be held when you plan to go. I'm going May 8 to 15, as far as I know nothing is scheduled. Rivers of Light is delayed, Frozen delayed, Star Wars fireworks end 4/30 and will not restart until summer.

Magic Kingdom "Disney After Hours" is currently scheduled to for the nights of May 8 and May 12. No way of knowing if DVC members will be invited for free, though.

The way this has all played out is fascinating to me. I'm happy for those that were able to take advantage, thanks for the reports.

It was amazing! Got the offer and only I could take advantage of it as my friends had the early morning 5K run. I have never seen the park so empty and the CMs in such happy, playful moods. I was the only one on the boat from WL as the fireworks started so I had a private fireworks cruise thanks to my captain. The 11:00 MSEP had at least a dozen feet between people in Frontierland and lots of interaction.
I waited no time at all anywhere and as a fastpass user I had never seen Wendy's home and the nursery special effects on Peter Pan before. I rode Dwarfs Mine Train 7 times and was the only one basically on the whole video on 2 of those runs. I was the last and only one on POC at closing and there was only CMs in Adventureland. Busses were waiting and I was back to my room at 2:30. A very special magical unexpected perk.

I would not rely on what your guide said. They just want to make the sale. I had one write me an email that was pretty extensive when I bought resale. I think they will offer "free" events here and there when they don't fill up with the general public at whatever price and it looks good on their part. ... Great is your can join the festivities but don't count on it.

I am curious how this will play out. One. I think they will complaints no matter what. One if I paid that price. I would be upset DVC members got in free. Now I can see DVC members upset its not offered every event. And complaints it cost too much ....on top of that. So Disney stop the crazy idea already.

I am going to be there the night of May 8. However I never receive any emails from DVC. I have to get all my info here on the disboards. I have tried numerous times to get this fixed. Each time we add on, they promise it will be and it never is. Anyway, just wondering if anyone gets the invite for May 8 if you could let me know so I could attempt to call or something.

Guess I'll be watching my email while on our upcoming trip. We are there for 15 days. Maybe we'll score one. The nice part is that we're staying at BLT so easy access.

I'm happy for those who were invited and able to take advantage of the opportunity. From the reports I have seen, no one who paid was disadvantaged by the extra guests. Sounds like most attractions were pretty much walk-on during the event. :)

DH and I will be there on the 8th, and I will let you know if/when I get an email. I suppose the notices go out with n Saturday. We'll be at Jambo Saturday night.

It was amazing. We were staying on points at Beach Club and got the e-mail. I was hesitant about even doing it for free because we had the 5K in the morning, but I am so glad we did it. It was fun to have to he whole train/car to yourself and the CMs would ask if you wanted to go again without getting out. I think if you had the money to burn, it would be worth the $149. It really was a great experience.

Got the invite and would have loved to go but we were doing the Star Wars Dark Side 5K the next morning and had to be up (and functional) by 4 am. Glad those who went had fun. I have read that the event didn't have a lot of paid admissions so wasn't as full as expected (3000 was the expected cap). That's still pretty good though. I wonder how many other DVC members were on site for the Half Marathon event but didn't go because they had to be up early.

You know there are times when I read these forums I feel like I have stumbled into a junior high discussion of a party everyone was not invited too. Seriously I could care less if someone pays less, or even free for something I paid for. When you go to concerts and sporting events surely you realize there are people there that got in free. No one pays the same for group events. Also does not bother me if a member gets an invite and I don't.

It would be a sad world to me if it bothered me what others get and do.

Also these are the dates:
  • April 14, 21 and 28
  • May 5, 8, 12 and 19
You have to be staying on points at a DVC resort. You can bring 3 guests. You will have to receive the email to even try to see if there are any openings. Pretty sure the emails are going out randomly and all members will probably not get one even if you are there on those dates.

To the bolded above- this was not true for special free DVC access to the event on April 14th. I am a DVC member and received the email about this event, and was able to sign up and attend with my husband, and we were staying at Coronado Springs on a cash, room only, AP discounted reservation.

We arrived at the event at 7pm and our magic bands worked to let us in with no issues (we did stow away those special event lanyards right away as they were very large and awkward). We had already planned on this being our MK day before this event was ever announced so we used our fast passes, including our Wishes one, then sat on a wooden planter in the Frontier Land area on the parade route to wait for MSEP. Just after 11pm someone came over with some of the free ice cream and let us and the couple next to us know that the carts were open (we had put those lanyards on while waiting) so we grabbed ice cream to eat while watching the parade. We then rode rides until 1am (we had taken a red-eye from CA Wednesday night and landed early Thursday morning so we were done by 1am). Everything we did was a total walk on, and some rides were allowing you to go multiple times without getting off. The CMs at It's a Small World were especially fun to be around and were having a great time with the guests! We had an amazing time, but as AP holders who go to both WDW and DLR multiple times a year the value really isn't there for us at the current price point.

Thanks for sharing, that is interesting and I think you are the first to say they were not staying on points. I am surprised since you were staying on cash, that you came up on their radar as someone to offer it to. Was the CSR stay your only booking?

Glad you had a good time.

That's cool-we are going to be there soon and I thought it would be neat if we got a last minute invite for DAH but then realized we didn't have a DVC reservation for this trip and didn't think our non DVC reservation would be eligible for an invite

I was at the BWV last week I received the email....well they sent me the email for 4/14...I don't usually read my emails while away. I saw it Sat 4/16 when I got home! I think they should have given us a letter while there instead. We would have gone only because it was free. We would never pay that much to go.

The cash CSR stay was my only one for this time period, we do have two future stays (Nov and Jan) booked on points, but I don't think those had anything to do with this invitation. I just re-read my invitation email and it only talks about being a special perk for being DVC members, and in no way leads me to believe that it would be exclusive to those staying on points, and obviously was not for the 14th.

One interesting thing that my husband and I were commenting on is that although we are both members listed on the deed (he is listed first) only I received the email for this special access event. We assumed that it was probably because I was the lead on the CSR reservation, and they wouldn't want members to sign up and take duplicate spots, or it could just be a DVC quirk.

Not everyone got one, even if they were DVC members staying on points at a DVC resort on one of the dates offered. So they have to be offering them to DVC members with a stay booked on that day. I guess with the MDE accounts, it lead them to you which is why your husband was not listed.

Glad you were able to experience it.
