Free admission on your birthday intro + FAQ + gift card T&C

Just bumping this up from page 10 to the 1st page, as someone was asking for details.

:yay:bump:yay:

Does anybody know if the fun card obtained at Disneyland can also be used at properly sanctioned WDW locations? In case, we do not use it all for DL purchases.

The website says you can buy "select merchandise items at participating merchandise locations".

I've seen the list of places that you can use the card, and I've seen the list of what you CAN'T buy (alcohol, Disney Dollars, etc), but are there limits to what you CAN buy. Is there only specific merchandise you can buy?

If there are limits to what you can buy, then it is therefore among what you can't buy. You already have seen the list of what you can't buy, and therefore those are the limits.

I just came across this thread and read all 14 pages but didn't find answers to all of my questions. I would appreciate any help anyone could provide.

We are going to Disneyland on my DDs bday. Her bday is May 29th. That is the day we arrive and we will be staying through June 3rd. We have 5 day park hoppers so we don't need the free ticket. We will be activating our park hoppers on May 29th (the day of her birthday) so we will definitely have a *valid*/*active* ticket for her. Thus, we are opting for the Birthday Fun Card.

We will not be arriving until late-ish on Friday, May 29th. By late-ish, I mean, our flight gets in at 6:00 then we'll have to drive to the hotel. We have reservations at Ariel's Grotto for a princess dinner to celebrate DDs birthday. Our PS is at 7:30. We are staying at the GCH so we will quickly make our way to the hotel, check in, and then head to CA for dinner. Yes, I know we are cutting it close but we've always been able to make it from the airport to park (including checking into the Grand) within about an hour, give or take a few minutes. If we don't make it in time, we'll just have to reschedule for another day as 7:30 is the latest PS of the night.

So, my questions are as follows:

1) Can we pick up the Birthday Fun Card at *ANY* time on the person's birthday? If we make the PS we won't be able to get the card until 9-ish that night. DL is open until 11 on the day in question.

2) Would I be able to pick up the Birthday Fun Card at the GCH at check in? Has anyone done this? If not, where in DL (NOT CA as it will be closed by the time we get done with dinner) can I pick up the Fun Card?

3) Does DD have to be with me? I will have her birth certificate and wondered if I could just pick it up with proof of her multi-day park hopper or if she'll need to be with me.

Thanks for any help you might be able to provide. I really appreciate it.

For future reference, and to others who look at this thread:
The first post is constantly updated as new, verified information comes in.

The answers, although perhaps indirect, are there:

1) & 2) In Disneyland Park, you may pick up the birthday card in City Hall, which should be open during all park hours. No one has ever reported getting it at any Disney hotel.

3) All the mentions are of "your birthday". Although there may be a case where an exception has been made, this implies that the person celebrating the birthday must be present to receive the git.

Hey, thanks for the response perlster. I did read the entire first post (in addition to the full 14 pages) and didn't feel like it really answered my questions. If I did, I wouldn't have asked. I wasn't looking for implications, I was looking for answers from someone who might have previous experience with my specific questions. Surely, I can't be the only one with the same inquiries.

Sorry to have wasted your time.

Great thread! It is very helpful since we are taking our boys over one of their birthdays in just a couple of weeks!

I wonder if the Guest Relations/Services window near Lost and Found, in the esplanade (kinda hidden) waaaay over to the left of the DCA gate, would be a place to go? I know that AP holders have reported being able to get them there...

Shouldn't the ticket booths be open, though? And shortly before 7:30 I can't imagine the lines will be long at all.

And MaiynaMouse, I think that perlster was just trying to tell you that you don't need to read through the whole thread, b/c perlster puts any answers anyone has found in the first post.

mouseplanet has a couple CMs in ticketing that post over there, and they might be able to answer you from a ticketing point of view (since they are the ones dealing with this).

I don't have first hand experience in this, but when we pick up DS's giftcard, I'm absolutely taking him with me, as I can't imagine they'd give me the giftcard for him without him there.

Just wanted to let you know that I went to the guest relations booths outside the gates to pick up my fun card (ap holder) for my bday last month. So if you think City Hall will be crowded or wanted to get your fun card before entering the parks, guest relations is open for it.

Also, I asked about my husband's bday b/c we have non-exp wdw tickets left over & his bday is a Sat (not valid with our aps). They put him on an exceptions list to get a fun card before entering the parks b/c you can only validate your wdw tickets at the actual entrance turnstile.

Hope that helps someone who had leftover tickets from a previous trip & wants a fun card. :upsidedow

Thanks so much for this information. I had called DL to see about what places accepted the card. They told me any DL owned store. Since I have never been I had no idea. Thanks again for this information!!:cheer2:

Can you go to the Guest Services window that's to the left of the DL turnstiles to get your free bday ticket, or do you have to go to the ticket booth?

It's also not valid at for Dining.

I have a question - well, it is a scattered thought in my mind that I am working into some form of a question - and I don't think I have seen it addressed here specifically. If it has been addressed, forgive me for asking again.

Okay - my friend's birthday is on December 26th. She does not have an AP. So to get the Fun Card in lieu of free admission, I know she would have to have a 2-Day Hopper (at the very least) because the 1-day Hoppers do not qualify guests for a Fun Card, correct? Am I right so far? All right, so when you get a multi-day Hopper, am I correct in that there is a time limit/period in which the final day on the Hopper has to be used based on when the first day on the Hopper was used, like, for example, the last day has to be used within 14 days of when the first day was used or some such thing? Is that right? (Before I got my AP, I always used my Hoppers on consecutive days over a long weekend so I never had to come back at a later point and use up remaining days, but I thought that was how it worked.) So if my friend went to DLR for the holidays on, say, December 12th and 13th with a 3-day Hopper, and used Days 1 and 2 of the Hopper on the 12th and 13th, could she then use Day 3 of the Hopper on December 26th and get her Fun Card? I think that is the best way to pose the question and have it make some sort of sense!:lmao: Does anyone know?

Sherry, hoppers have a 14 day expiration. So she would have 14 days to use her park hoppers.

Right...I knew about the 14 days. So that means that my friend could use days one and two of the Hopper on December 12th and 13th, and then use day three of the Hopper on December 26 (14 days from the 12th) to get the Fun Card? In other words, there are no rules prohibiting getting the Fun Card on the last day of one's Park Hopper, right?

i just read all 15 pages - can someone please assist --?

just registered for my daughter's 10th birthday - July 11 - the confirmation email correctly states Disneyland however the PDF certificate reads Walt Disney World Resort. Is this normal?

also - what time do the ticket booths open on a Saturday? I've never been to DL. WDW 5x - first time to CA.

I see we can upgrade - the rest of my party will have PH for the day - i assume i can pay the difference right when/ where i pick up the free BD pass, correct. this looks to be $25 more for the park hopper -

thanks so much - i'm usually on the WDW disboards- my first time venturing over here!

Memory serve me right, the Computer System we're using for FOYB is a WDW-based system. That's probably why.

It should be fine either way. Simply bring a form of Government-issued identification along.

The Disneyland Resort Ticket Booths will open approximately one hour before the earliest Park Opening.

Yes, you can upgrade your Free On Your Birthday Theme Park Admission at any Disneyland Resort Ticket Booth.
