Okay

So for months I am finding the little magnets that you put on your fridge on the floor in front of the fridge and I blame the kids. ( "We didn't dooo ittt! ")

So today, I am getting my coffee and I hear "scritch, scritch, plop!" and i turn around...there is Luna carefully scratching at the magnets, bringing them down to the bottom of the fridge till they fall off, then, he bats a couple (the care bear ones) under the fridge for good riddence...that cat is just a little screwy. Gotta luv 'em.

PS: I have the "creepin' curd" by the way and if feels like my nose fell off and got run over by a mack truck. It's like someone bricked up my nostrils! I am trying some homeopathic remedies, I took a sudafed the other day and raced around like Secretariat on some good quality amphetamines. Not pretty when they wore off, passed out for about an hour on the bed..."Mommy...who?" please, let me feel better before I work on Friday night...:worship:

Have a great night everyone,

LL

Hi Freaps...boy have I had a crappy afternoon. I was parked at DSs' school and someone broke my passenger window and reached in an stole my purse. I know..stupid, stupid, stupid. I can't even say this is a rare occurrence, I ALWAYS lock my purse in my car when I go to their school. It was very weird, I came out of the school with the boys, started to cross the parking lot, and a police officer drove by and I said "hi" to her because I recognized her from standing in line at Subway with her last Friday..we had a conversation about the Middle school she "guarded", I wanted to know if it was a safe school...anyway, she said, "Am I here for you?" I thought she was kidding around, so I said, "I hope not!" Then she kept driving and I walked over to my car, opened the drivers door, and noticed the passenger window...gone...glass everywhere. So I went and flagged her down, she came back.

She asked me all kinds of questions, did I see anyone..NO...well.........wait a minute...When I was parking I had to pull in head first-someone was behind me. So I wanted to back out and turn around so I could see better when I leave-busses and cars drive thru there...There was a car waiting for me to back out..So I signaled for them to keep going., they finally did after a long wait. Then they stopped a little further and I turned around. When I got out of the car, I noticed that one guy had gotten out of the car and was standing on the sidewalk. I am so unobservant, I got no description of person or car (dark)to give the officer. But I did know at that point they were checking me out to see if I carried a purse into the school..Who knows, maybe if I had my purse they would have jumped me...I am just now thinking about THAT possibility.. This is at about 3:00. I came out at about 3:40.

So I get on the phone to start cancelling stuff. (quite by accident I had my cell phone in my pocket...) They had already hit several gas stations with my Debit card, apparantly they don't need a PIN at a gas station..great idea.
I called DH out of class to start cancelling the credit cards. He said they had tried to charge at CHILI'S:confused3 and gas stations..I don't know how much they got away with. I guess we will have to pay $50/card or something, we had 3 CCs they were using.

So now DH is off to Home Depot to buy new locks for our door, because they have my Driver's License and a house key..We live in a gated community, but I will be very nervous until we do that..In the morning we will call back the glass place to see if they can get my window fixed tomorrow. I had about $90 in cash in my wallet in my brand new Coach bag I got for Chirstmas..Oh yeah, our deductible is $1000..this will all be out of pocket.

Yes, I am pathetic(and really, really stupid)..but you know what...I am safe. They might have jumped me if I had my purse with me...My kids are safe. I can fix my car window, replace the locks, replace credit cards, deal with ongoing hassles with banks and CC companies..I can buy a new purse at TJ Maxx for $30...or even carry one in my closet that I haven't used in a while.. I can keep checking credit reports to see if they were more than average low lifes and are also identity thiefs. I am just glad that we are safe...
What really makes me sick is that these kid of people are hangin around elementary schools...

Thanks for listening y'all. I gotta get back to putting all that stuff back into my closet.

I think you need on of these first  I am glad that you are ok. It is getting so crazy these days. I try not to carry a purse anymore because they are getting bolder about taking them these day. I am so sorry that happen to you. No you are not stupid just alittle to comfortable in your day to day surroundings. Here is another  because I know I would need an extra..

:goodvibes Thanks:goodvibes You are right I am too comfortable around here. The crime is really bad in some areas around here, but it does move around, too. We bought a house in a gated community because we would not feel safe without one. I never in my life thought I would live in one. The school we go to is not wealthy or poor..it is a magnet school we get all kinds of income level. I really don't consider myself naive, I guess I just never believed it was that bad.

so now I don't know if I should carry a purse at all!! If I did today, he might have grabbed it from me. So they took it from my car. :confused3

Thanks for the hugs..I needed one. and now I need a drink!

I give you lots of:hug:   I am glad you and the boys are okay.

It is kinda of creepy that someone is hanging around a kids school.

:goodvibes Thanks:goodvibes You are right I am too comfortable around here.

:scared1: So glad you are OK!!!!

I know what you mean about "too comfortable"- I am the same way in my area. We are so far from any "bad areas" that is why I feel comfortable. But you never know- :confused3

I leave my handbag in the car sometimes- if I am just running in somewhere- I will leave it on the front seat!

You certainly are not stupid at all! We all do those kinds of things!

Unbelievable!!!!! :headache: :headache: :headache:

:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

What a complete and utterly senseless feeling it is to have something like that happen to you! Even though you didn't have an actual face to face encounter it is still apalling and disturbing when something like this happens. I'm glad you thought to have the locks changed at home....so many people forget that the thief now has your home address & access unless they do that. Can you check with any of the gas stations/stores and see if anyone has a camera/taping of the person(s) using your cards? I know when it happened to me (stolen out of an unlocked vehicle :sad2: I was young and stupid once) the even dumber thief tried to give my uncashed work check to her landlord as payment for rent and he called me ticked off to find out why the check was cancelled :confused3 Um, because it's stolen!!! The court made her pay restitution for bank fees & loss of property even though the check was cancelled and re-issued and I wasn't asking for anything :cool1: . Anyway, if there is a possibility of getting either the car (liscense plate #) or persons identity through a surveillance camera, it could help you track down the thief and make them pay restitution for your OOP expense. Just a thought.

Don't let them change you!!! If you normally carry a purse, continue to do so but make some adjustments. Don't make it a big bag - be able to push it UNDER the front passenger seat so it is not sitting in plain view. I know, you'll probably have to remove all the crap the kids have managed to throw under their but if someone looks in the window it will appear that there is nothing of value is easily obtainable. Usually if I am uncomfortable carrying my purse into somewhere for whatever reason (don't want to carry it) - usually places like movie theaters, sporting events, concerts, playgrounds, etc. - I lock it in the trunk. You can also get some type of wallet for credit cards/cash and just remove that portion from your purse to put in a pocket so that IF your purse is stolen they are getting your feminin products, sunglasses, misc stuff you carry around but not your financial/address information. When you get out of your car, look around, if there are people standing around make it a point to look RIGHT at them - they will be less likely to pull something if they feel you can identify them.

The officer wants copies of my bank statements to see where they went, the Debit card woman couldn't tell from what she was looking at , said it had to post first. I guess I could check again tomorrow and call the police officer if I can find out places they went. She said the gas stations should have cameras.

DH replaced the door locks, even though they aren't the exact ones that look right...I couldn't have slept with the old ones. I guess we will still have the old ones rekeyed and then he will put them back. I hope it doesn't rain in the morning, or is cold. I will have to remove the black bag covering my window so I can see to get the kids to school.

I fell asleep in my chair watching TV and when I woke up I started trying to think of things in my purse that I may have forgotten were in there. I had a small stack of gift cards and some other cards I cannot remember, but I think I only had the three credit cards in my purse..Luckily My Disney Rewrds card was not in there, so I have something to use til the new ones came..This is funny, you are gonna feel this one, too. All of a sudden I realized all my ECB's for CVS were in there!! Probably about $40 worth!! That really upset me!

So now I think I will go get that drink that I was gonna have before I nodded off.

At least I finally remembered the tooth fairy for my DS8..

Thanks for all the hugs...now where's the vodka?

I just left my purse in my consol yesterday while picking up my son from school in the afternoon. That could have easily been me. I will right now, after the kids go to school, take out everything in my purse & document it. Write down numbers, exp dates, phone #s to call and take out what is not necessary. I already stopped carrying a check book. It can be a hassel some days, but I usually put one in my pocket if I think I'll need it.

I am sooo sorry this happened to you. Thank you so much for sharing and reminding us that things are not so "rosey" in the real world. :flower3:

Want a chocolat coupon?

Wow, that's really creepy. I had my purse stolen from my car once, in my misspent youth, and my discover card at WDW in 2004. It feels really, really, creepy. I hope they get those guys with the gas station cameras. What a bunch of creeps! What people won't do to not have a job. They get away with it to easily, if they lost a hand for stealing, they would only do it twice.

Try and feel better, I know it's really scary, but try not to let it "get" you.

right now you just cant leave you rpurse anywhere.......its tax time....so the theives are thinking "tax return" $$$$ so they will take any purse they can get......

at our resturant it happens every year...in broad daylight...they will bust windows and steal purses...not stereos....not cars.....all they want are the purses. We have seen so many women leave their purse in the front seat ....uncovered....full of their tax return money...and its gone in an instant. Not to mention the deductible that they will now have to pay.

just be careful guys......at this time of the year esspecially...dont leave the purses in the car...lock em in the trunk or leave em at home....

hugs and stuff to you guys that are dealing with it.....it sucks big time

OMG HRH!!!! That is crazy that it happened right there at school in broad daylight!!:scared1: I need to start being more careful when I stop at Wal-mart at 4:00 am when I get off work. I almost always have to stop and get milk or something and it's usually not enough to take the buggy with me to the car, so I'm juggling bags, keys and my wallet. I'm a perfect target.:sad2: This leads me to another reason that we need a dog. We live in a very safe place out in the country but lately you keep hearing about break-ins in rural houses even when people are home.:scared1: We have a huge meth problem in rural areas of Ky now and these people get hopped up and will do anything for money. I never thought I would have to worry about that kind of thing here.:sad1: So, in order to keep me from shooting someone(which, believe me I would do if my kids were threatened) we are getting the dog. Now, in accordance with the age old rule of never getting details of anything from a DH, the dog IS NOT an Old English Sheepdog at all. It is a Great Pyrenees. DH's secretary owns a pair and they have 8 brand new puppies and she will give us one. I think she told him that they are used to herd sheep, so in DH's brain it became a sheep dog.:lmao: Here's a pic of a full grown one:

And here is a pup. Isn't that the sweetest little face?

And in other good news, the Ky. House and Senate passed the budget last night that includes funding for DH's job. Now, the only possible obstacle would be a veto by the governor so let's keep those fingers crossed.

Yeah for hubby:banana:  :cool1: :cool1:
The dog is sweet. I trying to talk John into a puppy. But it is not happening

OMG, what a cute face! no one's going to mess around with you with a dog that size hanging around. People always think my boxer is a pitbully because he is all white, that's fine with me! Good luck with your puppy search.

Ooops, pitbull, I will not be accused of maligning the breed simply because humans with snot for brains insist on mistreating and mistraining them. I know several very well behaved and loving/lovely pitbulls:hippie: .

So there...:snooty: (have i mentioned i really get a kickout of snooty boy?)

Just so you know, these are great dogs, but they do tend to wander. Like in very far. My postman had one and it once ended up FIVE miles from home. Apparently my postman had a gate problem in his fence. However, just because the breed is known for it, doesn't mean every one will do that. Some here has on the DIS has one that does it's business and then goes straight back to lay in front of the door.:confused3 Go figure.

Any chance that secretary would like to meet in Cincy to give me one?

That is one of my biggest worries. My last dog was a beagle and she refused to stay put. It would drive us nuts when she would run off. We will have a fenced in yard but I would sure like to be able to train her to stay with us when we go somewhere. We are going to work with her a lot to see if we can train her better than I did with my last one(I was a very permissive doggy mom:lmao: ). I'll ask her about giving you one. She claims they are pure bred but the people who gave her the pair did not have papers so the pups won't be registered if that matters.:confused3 Too bad they are still tiny because we are coming up to the zoo this weekend. We get up to Cincy fairly often since we have a zoo membership and absolutely love the Hofbrauhaus in Newport.

Nope, don't plan on breeding, so papers aren't a big deal here. We have a museum membership and go there quite often. Wanted a Zoo membership, maybe next year.

OMG! I am SO for the "Eye for an Eye" thing!:thumbsup2

That would free up a lot of jail space (and taxpayers $$). :rolleyes1

But then again, so would legalizing weed- but that sure isn't gonna happen!

Sorry- went a bit OT there. Just passionate about some things! :thumbsup2
