France officially bans 'e-mail' from vocabulary

In another effort to protect the French language, France has banned the term "e-mail" from all official communications, requiring the word courriel be used instead. Looks like e-mail has gone the way of cheese burger (another banned term in France)

I think France needs to "get with the program"! Or are they trying to retaliate somehow against our banning the term "French" fries...??

T-shirt is another one they banned. Don't think for a minute that these words aren't used over there or that citations are being issued. That country has ministers for everything. I'm glad I live in this country where the government isn't telling me what words to use or not use.

No, they have done this before. I remember a few years ago they banned the word "weekend" from the French vocabulary. It's sad that someone over there seems to be so insecure as to ban a few foreign words.
