Hi everyone!

I'm not sure if this is the right board for this, but it seemed more applicable than most. I have a couple drawings I made at the Animation Academy last year when I was in Disney and I was wondering if anyone knew of good places that sell frames that are the correct size and won't charge a small fortune. Ideally, I'd like to just buy pretty frames off the shelf and frame them myself.

Have any of you ever framed these? If so, did you have to have it specially done or special order the frame? :confused3

I'm going to be closing on my first place later this month and I'm so excited to bring a piece of Disney into my new home! :cheer2: :cool1:

Thanks in advance!

I never did find any premade frames that would fit and I even tried the poster aisle at my local Joann Fabrics.

All of mine are sitting in an art portfolio just waiting for the day when I find one.

My husband made me some frames but we have yet to figure out how to glass them without spending a fortune. So they still aren't displayed.

I don't have my own drawing framed but one that a cast members drew. I didn't want to pay a small fortune so I got a frame at goodwill that was too big for the picture and put red paper behind it. I'm not sure if that's an option for you but it worked for me.

I work at a hospital and one of my jobs is getting wall mounted items framed. The biggest pain is when we have to frame something that isn't a standard size. We are so lucky to have a vendor that does very nice and cheap framing. It is actually a small local paint and wall paper store. Ask around and see if you have a "gem" like this in your area.

For the person needing the glass. We also have a local glass and counter top shop that cuts glass cheap. Have you tried someone like this?

I did find frames that worked a couple years ago at Michaels. They were labeled as "document frames" and were just plain black, not fancy at all. They weren't a perfect fit, so I think I had to trim a tiny bit off one side of the paper. I've been meaning to look for more to frame DD's latest drawings, but I keep forgetting. Hopefully Michaels still has something that will work!

The dollar tree used to sell a 11x14 document frame that was very thin on the sides and had actual glass versus plastic like you'd expect for a dollar, of course they don't sell it anymore now that I need 5+ more of them. Hobby Lobby has something similar for $6 and Wal Mart does as well for $5. With 11x14 you have to either cut off or fold under about an inch or so on the sides and then at the top there is less than half an inch of space but I turned the insert around and the white on white looks good. Its a pretty great fit considering its an odd size I guess.

I have had great success with the American Frame Company (not sure if we can post urls, but google it). You can create any size frame and they walk you through the whole procedure. You have to assemble the frame when you get it, but truly it's simple. And a fraction of the cost of having it professionally framed.

Thanks everyone! I appreciate the suggestions! I haven't had much of a chance to get out and about in the last week or so, but hopefully that will happen this weekend.:thumbsup2
