Frame question

I have a dumb question...

I have been encouraged to enter a photo in a local contest. Having never done this before I want to at least get it right without looking dumb

The directions say that the photo must be 8x10, matted and framed. So what size frame would I get?

It is a really dumb question, but I just don't know! Thanks!!

I would take that to mean that the picture itself needs to be 8x10 and so you can go to any frame shop (Hobby Lobby/Michael's) and get a frame/matte with an 8x10 opening.

(1) 8X10 cut mat board (suggesting white) with a size of 11X14
(1) 11X14 uncut mat board
(1) 11X14 frame.

You will need to mount the picture to the uncut mat board first. Get some archival two sided tape to do this. Mount picture to uncut board then mount the cut matte board on top. A simple trick is to use a larger uncut mat board, mount picture to it, then place the top mat. Next, cut the back mat board with an exacto knife to fit in frame. Your cut does not have to be perfect since you only see the front mat through the frame.

Place in frame and good to go. Craft stores like AC Moore, Michaels, etc. have all you need.
