I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere but I may have just missed it. I believe with the old system if you didn't make a change or use your FP before the return window it expired. That doesn't appear to be the case anymore. MDE holds onto the unused FPs and allows you to change them. So for example, say someone in your party decided that dragons were scary and therefore decided Journey Into Imagination was not for him. Say that no amount of explanation could convince him that Figment is not in fact scary and said member of your party was too young to stand outside alone (you're shocked, I know), the two members of your party who don't go still show up in MDE as having that FP for the rest of the day. It allowed me to change that "expired" FP to something else even though I was outside of the return window and grace period. I did not try the case where a whole party misses an experience, thankfully, and I don't know how this would effect my ability to get a 4th FP if those missed ones aren't used. I suspect you'd be able to get 4th FP for the rest of the party and need to change or cancel those "expired" FPs.
