FP+ questions... Really lost

Forgive me if I'm wrong but isn't it only one of your fast passes that can be a headliner? For example are you going to be able get Test Track and Soarin' on the same day for fastpass+? I really don't know but thought I had read it's going to be one of the big rides and then 2 of the rides nobody actually ever needs a fastpass for, and then a show or experience.

We have no idea if it will be limited that way.

We won't know for sure until Disney officially unveils the new system. But the tests Disney ran using the new system did forced guests to spread their four FP+ reservations among the different tiers of attractions, meaning you couldn't just use all four on headliners.

This article does a nice job detailing the test run. For DHS it says people got to choose 1 from the top tier, but didn't itemize what consisted of the top tier. 2 from the second level.

I'm sure we can all speculate about the DHS top tier.

Mine would be:
TSM, R'n'RC, ToT, Star Tours, Fantasmic!

Along next would be:
Little Mermaid, Muppets 3D, Great Movie Ride
and the "shows" B&B, Indy Stunt, LMA Stunt.

The whole thing reminds me of the special fastpass option they had available for the "Give a Disney Day" promotion. It was nice but I felt even then that the benefit was significantly watered down because of the way they grouped the attractions.

Thank you! I knew I had seen it in one of these threads but didn't even begin to know where to find it again.

I was thinking you could get 2 of the 3 top rides at DHS and 2 of the 3 Mountains in the MK. That seems to be the case.

I was thinking it was only a total of 3 selections at DHS, but that doesn't read that way. I must have been mistaken.

Yet again though, the article says "This is how it will work", but it was just a test. Things can change - like not being able to use regular FP.

And if they restrict the number of FP+ by tier AND you can't use regular FP - just, no.

Not exactly.. they changed the selection at DHS hastily because the majority of participants were selecting Tower of Terror from the second group and no one was opting for Lights, Motors in the first.

Someone at Disney had mistakenly felt that Star Tours was going to be one of the top-pulls and holds its own in the second group.. Marketing made the same mistake and so did TDO when financing the overhaul. It's not a draw, at least not any more than it was the refurb.. which isn't much.

So they changed it.. to implement the spreading out of guests across attractions as they had originally intended. You couldn't get the headliners all together.. The writing is plainly on the wall.

And yes, DHS had 3 selection - and Tower of Terror became part of the first group because EVERYONE was picking it in the second group.

I think it was some early research to see which were popular, and how they could distribute it.

I'm really surprised they would have put LMA in group 1 and ToT in group 2. During the Birthday/GAD offering, TSM, RnRC and ToT were the "Donald" group. Everything else was the "Daisy" group.

If group one only has 3 attractions and two of them are really popular.. one guaranteed to sell out daily.. that leaves 2.. and one is vastly more popular than the other..

It's not hard to see what they're doing. LMAX is there simply to allow there to be FP+ for group 1 if the others sell out.

That IS an interesting thought. But then they changed it...and that puts the top 3 back in 1 group, which as you can say can sell out, leaving no options at all. Better to leave LMA in the top, giving a choice of 4, so you at least have a choice still available.

It was never announced. A rumor that built up to a head, and then vanished in a puff of greasy black smoke...

One thing...if FP use will be excluded for people using FP+, I wonder if people's choices would be different? For example, we typically make it to rope drop. If I could use FP+ and FP, I might choose RNRC in FP+, and do the dash to get FPs at TSM. Now, since it is one or the other, I may choose TSM.

And since the test was probably quite limited in numbers, maybe there was no problem of all Group 1 attractions "selling out" (so no need to retain LMA there).

Could be quite different, however, when the number of those eligible for FP+ expands a lot.

What platforms support the app currently? Is it only certain cell phone providers etc? Being Canadian I can't see the site so I don't know the details.

Currently in my house, my iPad can use the app fine, and my sons android phone. My daughters windows phone is not able to access the app yet.
