OK, I have been reading through the endless posts regarding FP+, and I need some clarification on one rather important component. Has Disney confirmed that FP+ will ONLY allow 3 pre-booked fastpasses, with no further access to fp once inside the parks? Is it possible that, once the old fp system is obsolete, you will be able to pre-book 3 and then choose additional fp's once you arrive at a park on a given day (based on availability of course)? I am confused about this. :confused3

Nothing is confirmed about how many FP+s you'll be able to book in the future.

It is possible that guests may be able to pre-book 3 and then choose additional FPs. My guess is if you are able to choose same-day FPs, it will be for such high-demand attractions as Stitch's Great Escape, the Backlot Tour and Captain EO. But nothing's definite.

This is from the Disney website.

Q.
How many FastPass+ selections for attractions and entertainment am I allowed to make during my entire vacation?

A.
The total number of FastPass+ experiences available to you during your visit depends on several factors including availability and the vacation packages and tickets linked to your Disney account. Generally, FastPass+ eligible Guests are able to select one set of FastPass+ experiences each day for every valid theme park ticket linked to their account.

Depending on availability, you should be able to make up to 3 FastPass+ selections for attractions and entertainment each day at one theme park.

Things can always change. But this is the only info Disney has put out so far. Maybe during testing they will figure out that for many people this isn't enough. :confused3 Also, they never say the words that that is all you will get but neither do they say that you may be able to get more the day of.

The way I read that quote from the Disney website it that it only talks about FP+ and the limits for that feature. There isn't any mention of the regular fast pass system that is now available to all park visitors. And it certainly doesn't say that guests who choose to use fp+ will not be allowed to use the regular park fast passes.

But who knows what they plan. It hasn't been made clear yet. :confused3

Today I was able to get Animal Kingdom FPs using my AP even though we had FP+ for Epcot for that day.

I can find no mention of paper FP in the FAQ of FP+ but did run across this that they could have been mentioned. It wasn't given as a option but the reason why no one can say for sure. The question isn't will I still be able to get FP+s but "will I still be able to experience my favorite attractions". Seems like it would have a great place to say that traditional day of FPs will still be available. :confused3
Q.
If I don’t make FastPass+ selections in advance, will I be able to experience my favorite attractions at the theme parks?

A.
All attractions still provide a standby queue—assuming they are not closed for refurbishment. If FastPass+ experiences are still available, you can make FastPass+ selections for attractions and entertainment online with your mobile phone or at a FastPass+ kiosk when you arrive at the park.

I am assuming that OP is talking about once the system is fully rolled out and the paper FP machines are gone.

In re-reading... yes.

So...

1) Right now yes you are limited to 3 FP+ in one park per day but you can still get paper FPs.

2) In the future... nobody knows. Almost for sure the paper FP will go away. Hopefully Disney will increase the number of FP+ allowed. ( and allow them in multiple parks )

Yes! Let's hope!:thumbsup2

And we have our answer.

I have believed from early on that 3 would be the magic number but that others will be available same day. Unfortunately, they likely just won't be for the ones you really want.

What people want is immaterial. What matters is the capacity of the ride. People can want more, but they can't add more if the ride's FPs for the day have been maxed out.

I have contended all along that when you remove barriers to something, you get more use. They are removing the barrier of getting up TO the park, at an EARLY hour of the day in order to obtain a FP. So they are going to have more usage. They also have set the system so that those only wanting one or two FPs MUST choose 3, so once again, you get more usage. As a result that capacity level is likely going to be reached faster then ever before.

I think we can all see that choosing additional FP+ once inside the parks is becoming a moot point. I have access to the MDE site since I'm an AP holder who participated in the test, and I've been logging in everyday to check the same day availability for my own curiosity. Even now (with FP+ limited to on-site guests), there is little to no same day availability for the big rides.

Keep in mind this has not been rolled out to all guests yet, and this is a comparatively low crowd time of year.

Once this is available to everyone park-wide, I think you'll be hard pressed to even score a Journey into Imagination FP+ day of.

::yes::::yes::::yes::

And I'm so sad. All so a handful of people can sleep in, then stroll into DHS at noon to ride TSMM. (Sort of. There is that data mining thing.)

but how do you get the paper fast pass from the machine if you have a magic band instead of a paper admission ticket to put in the old fp machines??:confused3

MB users are also getting KTTW cards as backup and can be used in legacy FP kiosks.

Just a thought, but is it possible that once FP+ is fully rolled out, that it would allow guests additional fast passes once they are in the park and have used one or more of their fast passes? Like, once the system verifies that the passes are in fact being used, it would then allow the user to make an additional fp reservation on the fly, so to speak?

Yes, completely possible. Disney has been as mum as mum can be about that, however.

I'm hoping they're still allowing double-dipping when we go in December (although I'm doubtful). We park hop, and when choosing our three FP+ per day we had to make some hard choices. :( For instance, we plan to hop from AK to the Magic Kingdom on one of our days and had to decide to wait in the standby line for Everest instead of Fastpassing it so we could use our three FP+ at MK.

I like the idea of FP+. Maybe it'll cut down on the stampeding of the herds at RD,lol. I am also loving the fact that I don't have to get up at 5 am on vacation to score a FP. Score one for the Desperados!:rotfl:

Ultimately, it will work out fine, testing phases are usually a little chaotic.

Thanks for the input, everyone! After reading through so many posts, I was completely confused about whether or not Disney had released anything official about what the plan is when (and if) fp legacy is removed. I am a die hard Disney enthusiast, so I will just continue to optimistically await whatever the full roll out has to offer! We'll be there in March, so with any luck a lot of the kinks will be worked out by then (did I mention the work optimistically already??). :)
