How long do you usually expect to wait in a FP line for a popular ride? Just trying to get an idea of what is a reasonable expectation for what we can do in a day. We'll be going at a medium attendance level, I believe - early May.

It's going to depend on how many people are trying to enter the fp line, as that tends to back up, especially at the opening of the fastpass windows. Should be anywhere from walk on to 20 minutes once you enter the line, depending on the attraction.

When FastPass was first being implemented as a system (1999'ish), it was determined that Guests were satisfied with it as long as the return line was 15 minutes or less. I would be curious to see how that number has changed (or not changed) over the last decade and a half...

Just back from WDW and the wait was about 5-15 minutes with FP with the exception of Soarin which broke down while we were waiting in line and Big Thunder where it broke down earlier in the day so had to handle all the people with FP for a few hours of having it broken down.

Just be aware that the Soarin' FP line has always been 20+ minutes because of the way that they load the queues and ride.

... especially at the opening of the fastpass windows.

Is there really some logic around the fastpass window? I had never thought about this. Looking at my Fastpass start times for our upcoming trip, it seems like they are fairly random - some on the hour, some at the thirty minute mark, but quite a few at :05, :15, :35.

Is there a trick to getting there at certain times during the hour to get a jump on when the "masses" might start lining up?

I think the whole point is to avoid a big line up. If they made the FP return times all for 10am-11am, you'd have a big rush of people at 9:50.
