FP+ is now completely worthless if you are staying offsite.

I haven't seen anyone post that this was one of life's biggest disappointments. Have you?
But there are a lot of families (more than 1 person in their party) who are having a hard time getting their FP+ attractions. Let's say, for example, your family really were looking forward to a ride on Soarin' but there were no FP+times available. Wouldn't you be disappointed?

read up along the post I responded and you would see it was a joke.

Unless they happen to run an.unannounced fp+ only test when you are there,.and you don't have or can't get a fp+ for it. In such circumstance, standby is no longer an option and one's willingness to wait or not is a non issue.
I stand corrected.
Rare occurrence and a failure from the feedback gathered.

With legacy FP, my family of four was able to ride TT and Soarin twice in one day with minimal waits. Now we can only ride them once each day and we still have to be there at rope drop. With legacy FP, we could ride TSMM 3 times in one day with minimal waits. Again, this trip we could only ride twice and we had to get there at rope drop to do it. With the exception of TT, Soarin, and TSMM most of the Fp we pulled were usually for 1-2 hours out. It was easy for us to pull a FP and do other rides in the area that had no wait, while we waited for our FP time to come around. This trip, we found ourselves skipping attractions because we weren't on the same side of the park that I thought we would be on when I made my FP 2 months ago. Many times the MDE app told me that I could not change my FP time.

Right, they only show commercials that make it look like Cinderella's castle is right outside your resort window and that all of the characters are waiting in an uncrowded park just to meet your little one. WDW set the bar high themsleves, many years ago. My great aunt and uncle would scrimp and save all year to go to DL, because the customer service was exemplary. They used to joke that the park was so clean that you could eat of the ground. Now we have entertainment cuts and overflowing garbage cans.

Like I said it goes to how you do it. I am normally a single visitor so I get FP to Soarin and walk right on the single rider line on Test Track faster than I'd get the second FP (old way you only got one at a time people seem to forget this).

I feel like this comes from people's expectations being too high. Disney has never promised anywhere that you WILL be able to ride every ride you want to during your visit. I remember growing up in SoCal, before DCA we would go and do the mountains and maybe a couple others before it was time to leave. We're talking 8 rides max. For years, Peter Pan was my favorite ride and we skipped it more often than not because of a 60 minute wait. It didn't ruin my life. It didn't ruin my trip. DH and I like the fact that FP+ guarantees us the ability to take DS on at least 3 of our favorite rides, without having to wake up early on vacation and sprint to get a paper FP (we are not the sprinting type). You're at a place where childhood is forever, people. Just enjoy all the things you get to do, and stop focusing on what you don't get to do.

You know, you're right. My expectations ARE high. Because I am basing them off actual experiences I personally had in the parks before FP+. I'm not basing them off of some pie-in-the-ski entitlement mentality (as some have claimed in these FP+ threads). I'm saying that I USED to be able to ride the rides I wanted to ride much more easily than I can NOW. I care very little about the little details like hidden mickeys or "atmosphere" compared to being able to ride the rides I paid for--at least, I don't care about them enough that if I can't ride the rides, I'll be content enjoying the atmosphere. I know some people find that unfathomable (although I don't know WHY).

So, to sum up: yes, I have high expectations based on past experience. And they are hard to let go of, so how about all of us "FP+ haters" be allowed to process the loss of something we loved?

Also, I never once sprinted for a FP-. I'm too lazy for that. Which is why I loved FP-. Also, at the end of FP- you could check the return time using the app. You didn't have to go across the park to see what time the return time was. Can we stop using that as an argument against it? No? Ok.

So don't stress, it's your choice. Try for a fp+, stay on site to give you a better advantage. And if you can't get a fp+, go- enjoy- get in line and wait because if it's the trip of a lifetime, and your kids will me tremendously disappointed if they don't get to do it, it's worth it.

You can minimize your waits by going early, doing emh, doing things later in the day but you don't have to miss a single thing you don't want to miss.

This. I went in July during the crowded season (I normally go in early December with far less crowds). I still got to go on everything I wanted to go on. And yes, if you go early as opposed to showing up at 11 or noon, you can get a lot done before the crowds hit.

Was there any reason for posting this besides being condescending? Did it add anything to the conversation? And you wonder why you're being persecuted!

Yeah, you were being a little nasty and there was no reason for it, but you didn't bother to read anything previous to that comment.

I'm being persecuted????? Wow....

At least you finally admit it, thanks.

Yeaaaahh.
I don't get the complainers …
Boo Hooo. FP sucks. Ah not for me. I like it. But many here don't.
As far as the crying Little Jonny and Susie will be soooo disappointed if they don't get to ride/see so and so…
Well duh.. Go EMH morning get there early.. Skip the opening ceremony, get in line left or right..and basically walk on the stupid ride…Its not rocket science.

Something that I don't seem to read here, on Legacy FP you could only get one ride at a time, FP+ you get three. Also on the old system if you tried past 11 or 12 you couldn't get the popular rides a second time anyway. So those saying they could get one for Soarin and also for Test Track, I am assuming you went during the real low crowd time of year or got very lucky as you could not get a second fast pass until the window of your first fast pass started and a lot of times that was several hours away. Going to Disney requires patience, and reasonable expectations. Even in the quiet times of the year, there will be lines. But if you are willing to be flexible (i.e. ride in single rider lines) and know a good strategy you can work with either FP system.

Persecuted? LOL hope that doesn't come with jail time :)

A failure from whose perspective? Guests, probably. Disney? I'm not so sure. They've now run this test at A&E twice, Soarin' once, and TSMM once. My trip is in less than 3 weeks, and I'd be lying if I said I'm not a *touch* concerned that they will do another test while we're there.

*disclaimer: please note use of the word *touch* - meaning only slightly concerned. I'm certainly not losing sleep over it by any stretch. Just something hanging out in the back of my mind as a possibility.

Its only a matter of time before the buzz of A&E and 7DM dies down. When I was there they were both 30 minute waits most of the week. (please no flames because I go Labor Day in what was essentially an empty WDW.)

LOL not sure, I think I lost the entire gist of the complaint there!

Oh somebody likes to pull arguments from one thread to another and it tends to get confusing. It's usually not a good thing to do for that very reason. My apologies for succumbing to it.

I lost track a long time ago, don't feel bad.

FP+ seems to get mixed reviews...My family and I hardly ever use FP anyway but even if we did, I wouldn't let it make or break our trips to Disney. Disney is always busy but if you plan accordingly then it shouldn't be that bad. It's a magical place and I think people get too caught up in the little things like FP and etc.....Just plan, go, have a good time, make memories.

I don't think the poster who I was directing my comment to thought I was being a "little nasty". At least that wasn't the response I received. However, if he or she did think I was inappropriate, at least I would have the grace to admit I was wrong and apologize.

However, I do have confirmation that an awful lot of people think you are being nasty, based on the posts I'm reading.

STOP. Take a breath and relax and just stop. You really need some perspective. You...are....out...of....control. Seriously. I despise using the block feature, but I'm pretty much of the idea that it's the only thing that's going to stop you.

They also tested this on Soarin', and TSMM - both rides that have been around for 5+ years and whose popularity has not declined. WDW isn't testing this option for no reason. What their endgame is, we can only guess, but I think it is a bit wishful thinking to think that these tests will just go away. People thought similar things about the tiers when they were introduced, and those haven't gone away..

I have a question: Why even post on a thread that is titled:

FP+ is now completely worthless if you are staying offsite.

If you ( anyone ) is of the mind that you will never stay offsite ? It would be like me posting on a site that has nothing to do with me. What would be the purpose? What is gained for the offsiters to be told how wonderful it is to stay onsite, go to DLR, Universal or other Disney properties around the world ?

No snarkiness I really would like to understand the reasoning :confused3

No need to apologize, I also find it funny that people are overreacting to a joke about overreacting. :)
