FP+ Details Are Out!

This may have been addressed in the 100+ pages, but...

If I'm not in one of the testing resorts and don't have a Magic Band, can I still have FP+? Also, we are traveling next month and have our travel documents, but I don't see any ticket info to link it all on MDE. Any idea how I would go about doing that??

I highly doubt it.

That's what the Disney brass have implied.

Given that Dolphin/Swan are not currently being tested and that it hasn't been rolled out yet to everyone, I wonder if I'm better off just leaving my tickets unregistered on My Disney Experience for now.

Has anyone confirmed yet that for this next testing phase in August, the old fastpass machines will still be accessible by Fastpass+ testers?

We're staying at Beach Club, but I'm debating switching to Yacht just for the chance at taking part in the testing, but only as long as the old fastpass machines are still accessible and testers aren't restricted to Fastpass+. It'd be the best of both worlds! Would you still have restrictions on your regular fastpasses? Like, would there be anyway it could be linked to your Fastpass+ selections so that the machines wouldn't let you get another fast pass until your Fastpass+ selections have been used/expired? It would be awesome to having your 3 prebooked times for say, TSMM, RRC and TOT and still be able to show up at rope drop and pull fast passes right away!

I'll be at Wilderness Lodge over Labor Day. I'm not doing a thing with my APs for that trip. I'm content to let others be the guinea pigs for this.

Several posters have said they've been told it'll be FP+ only for them.

I've never before read 1907 of anything.

Guess my priorities are a bit messed up!

I haven't either! But I have learned that rice is great if you're really hungry and want to eat two thousand of something. popcorn::

You will still get a KTTW card as a backup so yes regular FP is available as long as you have the KTTW card. It will not be advertised that you can do this. If you leave the KTTW card behind then you out of luck.

There's so much conflicting information everywhere! It makes me wish we were going in a few months when the kinks are ironed out! I emailed my TA so we'll see if she knows anything more and if switching is even possible.

?...........
"They have fingers crossed, toes crossed, and all the other body parts crossed" (her phrasing) that the roll-out will be "essentially complete" by the time F&W is finished.

.

LOL...that's the exact timeframe two CMs told me this week...but they also quickly added that it is still in testing....( G-Doi...)

I was able to pick Soarin, Test Track, and Mission Space at EP, and Toy Story, ToT, and RnR at HS.

Well that's exciting, I was worried the passes would be tiered. That doesn't seem to be the case. I Wonder if this will change during busy times, like Christmas.

I also read that not every attraction was available for for FP+ for everyday. Was this the case for you?

Yep, that was the start of the conversation, that they were still doing testing through the end of August - with the hopes that they'll be able to have it all out by end of F&W.

lol - not completely relevant to upcoming release, but she did say that the tests the CM's and others up to now were to find the "breaks" in the system. And they had succeeded marvelously. :rotfl2: From her laughter as she said it, apparently the adage was proved that "if you make something idiot proof, they'll invent a better idiot." Kind of wish I knew what had happened. :lmao:

The FP+ designers or the CM's?

The CM's. Like I said, from the way she laughed when she mentioned it, there were apparently some issues that the designers had not really accounted for that got found in the testing that "broke" the system for a while.:rotfl2:

And understand, I am extrapolating based on the context of her reactions during the conversation. I did not want to push my luck since I had finally found someone willing to talk a little by asking for too much information.

The card may or may not work in the FP machines if you scanned into the park using the MagicBand.

There's no way to know if the card and the band will be considered "interchangeable." (And, for various reasons, I imagine that they will not be.)

Unfortunately, I could only book two days worth of FP's , because I just have a 2-day ticket linked to the system. (Planning on upgrading to AP once I'm there, but that means I can't reserve for more than two days now.) I only made reservations at EP and HS, and I believe everything was available at both parks. I did notice - when I was playing around with FP's for MK - that Ariel's Grotto couldn't be booked on he day I was looking at. It said it was closed for refurbishment. I'm assuming/hoping that it's either a glitch or just won't have FP up and running yet. Can't imagine why it would need refurb already?!

AHahaha.
I should admit that I HAVE read every response (over the weeks; not in one sitting). I'm very concerned about FP+ and if we should continue to plan on visiting WDW next year.
