Welcome to the Polarized States of America. Geez... glad I stopped by for a little WDW fix :rolleyes1 When are we ever going to learn to start laying off each other?

I saw the report... it was basically a blip on the whole state.... they happened to have film from the Orlando area ... really nothing outrageous reported...

The thing I find interesting it that when we visited in May ... there were whole sections of trees lining the roads inside WDW that it was apparent that the trees had REALLY taken a beating.... I could only think that this was from the hurricanes the previous fall.. which told me they must have had a LOT to do, as they hadn't addressed the trees by May.

Heavy winds are going to cause damage - DisneyWorld is NOT going to be immune to it.. why in the world are people so very upset that any news channel would cover that there was damage?

I talked to some Horticulture and Operations CM's last December... They're
comment was if it was more "backstage" like the trees you see from the
Monorail, they're not going to do anything with them. They'll become
cover/food/mulch/fertilizer over the years. I guess the "onstage" ones for
themost part were taken care of after the 2004 hurricane season ended...
I'll be interested to see what the World looks like this December... :earsboy:

What over exagerating? Isn't it raining? Isn't there a hurricane in Florida?

I think the OP is over-estimating the report.
to that i say amen

Ok, I'm all for fun and games. As one of I am sure many conservatives who loves Disney and these boards, this is getting a little too close to a personal attack. Not to mention I'm sure there are minors who read these boards.

Like I alluded to earlier, if there's anyone who thinks that Fox News is the only news source that exaggerates when it comes to natural disasters, I have some ocean front property in Arizona I'd like to sell you. And if you do think so, you obviously didn't see the NBC story with its reporter in a canoe reporting on the floods in New England, talking about how bad it was. Suddenly, two guys went walking by in the ankle-deep water.

Minors read these boards? And? They may discover Republicans exaggerate? Wait for the indictments this week folks, you better sheild those kiddies!!!
Too bad Fox doesn't show the devastation in Iraq!!!!!!!!!!

To those of you who criticize Momof4girls for her post...she edited hers...when are you going to delete out the "offending" phrase from your own posts?

I don't think a fox news reporter standing over a felled tree saying "we have terrible foliage damage here at WDW" is really going to quite make it onto the news. Whatever news station it is, I have noticed over the past few years, have started to increasingly over sensationalize ANY story. It really is quite frightening the power they have. The press in the UK is terrible for creating hysteria. I have always felt pleasantly surprised living in US that it has never gotten quite that bad, unfortunately this doesn't seem to be the case with TV news, more recently. I don't think it can be put down to media bias. I usually watch CNN, but have found some of their rhetoric getting a little neurotic (if that's the right word) and so very Chicken Little on some topics. Which is kind of appropriate as the UK press is so getting it's knickers in a twist about Avian Flu at the moment, CNN has been a little guilty too recently. I don't object to being informed, I do object to the way it is presented. My opinion.

Hopefully all that are staying and working at WDW have stayed safe (as have all Floridians) Hope to see you all real soon.

Hey, that's what SHE posted...

When you edit something because you change your mind, you can't go and change the posts of those who quoted you.

If the moderators want to they can.

LOL. I just came here from the CB to get away from the debates and what do I find?

Last year (on CNN) I saw a reporter on a Florida street, holding onto a tree, telling of how very , very bad the weather was when you saw a fellow walking casually by in the background. The reporter stopped him and asked him where he was going in such terrible conditions, the man told him he was going to the grocery for some things. The reporter informed him that all the stores were boarded up. The man replied that he had just been there earlier and it was up and running and many people were shopping and he could not understand all the uproar. :rotfl2: Took the wind out of that sail.

That is why I watch Fox, CNN and others and make up my own mind about what is going on.

Slightly Goofy

I have no idea what damage there is at the parks. I do know that MK and Epcot are open this evening. Although there does not appear to have been a lot of damage in the Orlando area, there could very well be some minor damage around WDW.

I landed at MCO this morning at 6am. DD and I returned from a trip to LA. It was a very rough landing. The wind picked up just as we were making our descent. I overheard the pilot tell another crew member as we left the plane that the tower had told him the winds were 15 mph with light rain. Instead, we experienced tropical storm force winds and blinding rain. We had to wait for another plane to depart the gate before we could pull in. The plane was rocking from side to side because of the wind gusts. People were beginning to complain of feeling that sea sick feeling. I then drove home from the airport. It was not a fun drive. I could barely see because the rain was so intense and the wind gusts felt like they were going to blow us over. Our only damage at home was a small tree knocked over. So, although Wilma certainly did not affect Orlando like the past hurricanes, it definately was a rather intense experience.

Oh yeah! You mean the stuff that Sadaam did to his people right? ;)

Oh no, they showed that, but it was what we knew was happening when we sent Donald Rumsfeld to visit with Saddam. It's what Iraq is like now, since we attacked that they are sugar :rolleyes1 coating....

Maybe it's my own conservative bias, but I do find Fox news more "fair and balanced" than the other television news sources.

Most definately your conservative bias.

Faux News is neither fair or balanced. As a matter of fact, they occasionally out right lie.

If you want a station that is, try CSPAN and get your political news first hand.

When did this become a political debate topic?

And more importantly, when did we poor conservatives get lumped in with the Republicans?

:earboy2:

Can't we all just get along?
 (c'mon people, sweeties day just passed, let's make like Simba and Nala and feel the love tonight) :love1:
