It may just be my bad luck, but every time we take a quick 6 day vacation, we don't seem to get the fourth day trash/towel service. It happened twice at Saratoga and now this past week at OKW. By the time we got back to the room on day four, it was late and I was not about to wait up for Mousekeeping. I called the next morning, came back to the room in the early evening on day five and again, no trash/towel service. As we were leaving the next day, all I could do was call the front desk to voice my disappointment. I'm sure that fell on deaf ears. I have never complained about a resort before, but this is a commitment to me, the customer (and owner!!), and I am definitely getting a bit fed up! Is there a number or e-mail address I can use to voice my concern?

By the way...I found it amusing that on day six as we were leaving, they were chomping at the bit to clean the room for the next customer:rolleyes2

You're not alone delaney: Over Christmas we spent 7 nights in a Kidani studio. they "missed" our T&T day (DND sign was not up). The next day when they still hadn't come around I called and asked for new towels to be delivered and I'd swap them off with the old and hang up the towels myself. 30 minutes later I got a knock - it was an overly pleasant housekeeper with the scratchiest, holiest (I kid you not) rags I've ever laid eyes on for towels. I kept the old ones and rewashed them myself. (I still can not believe those were the only towels she could find, I felt as though she had sought out the worst of the worst just for us)

I don't know if it's a lack of people to do the job, or if it's a lack of desire to do the job. Either way DVC has an issue they need to take care of (I did contact DVC when I got home and asked them to look into it - noting that I did not need a response).

I don't know why you are having a problem with trash & towel. :confused3 I've only had a problem once at OKW, and that was because the people in the room next to ours wanted more towels and took ours from the basket that housekeeping puts out in front of the units that are suppossed to get serviced that day. Was there a basket with towels by your front door when you left that day for the parks? If so, I would say that someone else took them, and housekeeping didn't know, as the basket is the indicator to the housekeepers to service the unit.

If there was no basket, then that would absolutely indicate a problem that needs to be addressed by housekeeping.

Either way, you should have received trash and towel service once they were informed of the problem, but I would have waited for towels to be delivered to be sure no one was helping themselves.

Nope...no basket. I know to look for that. That's why I found it amusing to see the basket in front of our door on the day we were leaving. We also were sure not to put the DND sign out.

We've routinely had this problem at OKW. I'm not opposed to washing my own towels, and we take out our own trash. So it's not something I call about. But it has happened to us several times there.

Totally agree and I've done that in the past, but we had a studio this time (never again) and I wasn't about to pay two bucks to clean towels. ;) I really would have thrown out the trash, but I could not find a "trash room" anywhere near our studio villa. We did use the regular outdoor trash cans a few times just to lighten the load in our room.

I had the same issue at SSR. I was very annoyed because since we were expecting new towels we piled up the dirty ones on the floor thinking mousekeeping would take them. Some were damp from the morning shower. I was suprised to find them still sitting there that night when we came back to our room. I went to the front desk to complain and within an hour they changed out the trash and towels. I don't think we should have to complain...they should just do T&T on day four...it's what we expect.

Agree! And I didn't mention it in my original posting, but that is exactly what we did...piled the towels together on the floor and gathered the garbage up for ease of pick up....heck I even did the nice separation of garbage from recycles! I think I'm working harder than Mousekeeping!!! :rotfl:

I was in building 35 at Old Key West  the end of April and we did not get out trash and towel service either  But the worst part was we were almost out of toilet paper  So I called and someone came with it but all she did was one of the trash baskets and replenish shampoos :headache: Needless to say, I did not leave the tip that time :rolleyes1

Always call Housekeeping and ask to speak to the on duty manager, don't call the Front Desk.

You will get the Call Center not the Front Desk and they will be of no help.

I find the best way to contact Member Satisfaction is to use the Contact Us on the member website.

Not that I would want to wash towels, but there is no charge for DVC to use the laundry. Also the Trash room is on the first floor at the foot of the stairs to one side.

Was unaware of the free laundry...good to know...thanks!!! ..I just looked and saw the coin slots. Besides, I was not going to hang pool side for towels they should have done/replaced for me. As for the trash room at the foot of the stairs, we did try it....it was locked.

The trash room should not have been locked. There is a room near it or even next to it, that is for the housekeepers to store their items and it is locked.

Trust me Sammie ... we had a bunch of friends in our room one night resulting in trash. We looked long and hard and all around for ANY door that was possibly open for trash. There were none. Possibly an anomaly....who knows?

On a side note..watching Modern Family which is centered around a trip to Disney...LOL

Which building were you in? Maybe it has been locked by accident.

This is what the outside the room looks like, first floor, bottom of the stairs.

Building 20 and yes, those were the doors were at the bottom of the stairs. Again....locked by mistake, anomaly..... whatever it might be. Our neighbors left their bag of recycles outside those doors. Point remains, however, that I except Mousekeeping to get my trash on day four and not dispose of the garbage myself.

Ok, glad you at least found them. Did you let anyone know they were locked. And yes they definitely should have given you your Trash and Towel day.

I misunderstood your previous post to say you could not find the location of the trash room at all, my bad. If they can be locked without a key, some kids probably thought it was funny to lock them.

There should not be any reason for those doors to have locks on them and that probably should be brought to the attention of management.

No....Sammie....it's "my bad" instead.....and not intentionally.....the trash room was there and I knew that from previous visits, (our original points in '98 were with OKW)... however, the signs on the doors (as in your picture) were removed. It was just confusing with no signage and especially when the doors were locked. It's also been literally years since we've stayed at OKW (not my favorite place), so I had no idea if there had been any changes. And no......while I did voice my disappointment with the the lack of towel/trash service, I did not mention the locked doors. I agree....I probably should have. But with no signs on the door, it didn't come forefront to my brain.

Again...this should not be the issue...right? I mean the issue should be trash and towel removal by Mousekeeping. Right?

I have friends that work there, so was just trying to determine if there is a problem with that building.

I will let them know the signs are missing and the door has been locked at times. Thanks. :thumbsup2

Cool...please...Let them know. Wonderful. Because I sincerely feel that my comments to the front desk fell on very deaf ears. If you want to be specific, it was room 2026. No service whatsoever. And again...the issue is NOT the trash doors, NOT the ability to throw out your own trash...Not the lack of signs......the issue is that I did not get the service promised to me. I think we are missing the main point here and right now I'm frankly getting tired of the to and fro of this. I should NOT NOT NOT have to know where to drag my garbage to! I am on vacation. I am Paying for this fourth day towel/trash. While I appreciate the info you are attempting to give me, trust me that I've been around this place longer than I care to admit. The bottom line is the service stinks and they don't seem to give a damn anymore.
