Morning All,
Happy long weekend!
Well our car shopping went well. After researching, test driving and comparing prices, we ended up getting a fantastic deal on a NEW Dodge Grand Caravan. It's black with a dark interior and I'm totally loving those stow 'n go seats. When we were comparing it to used Toyotas & Hondas I preferred it and the price of a NEW one was just as much as a used Toyota & Honda. Some of those used cars had TONS of miles on them, stunk of smoke and still were well over $20,000. Some even had 41,000 miles on it and they had the guts to ask $21K+. No used car with miles, scratches, dings and smoke smell was worth that much. We went back to the Dodge dealer and worked out a VERY GOOD deal. Said we only wanted to pay X and finance X w/ X$ payments per month and they worked it out. :woohoo:
They even gave us the full Kelly BB price for our trade with all its issues.:banana: Never had a NEW car before with only 50 miles on it so I AM LOVING THIS. New car smell and all. :cloud9:

:dance3: It's raining. Temps only in high 70s..AC not needed.
We try not to go out on the roads over holiday weekends. We've made it to our 50s and want to continue a little longer. Everyone have a happy and safe holiday!
Well, at least you're getting that much needed rain.
Good idea to stay off the roads this weekend. :thumbsup2

[
I did need to say for those coming to Hershey that I'm trying to get some discounted tickets from a friend. I'm not sure of the cost or how many I can get, if any, but I'll try.
Oh... that would be great M&N!!!! :cool1:Thanks!

Kitty - That bank teller is a real LOSER! Here you are being honest and she takes no responsibility for the error. What a jerk!

LITC - I'll either PM you or FB you my address. I will enjoy having the TKers here in WI. :cheer2:

Racetrack - Love your DD's short hair. Very cute. We'll be watching the races (Indy and NC) this weekend. Nothing planned. If you want to call me this weekend, I'll be around.

Hey D&D, congrats on the new car! That is so exciting! Isn't the feeling of a brand new car amazing? I mean of course any car is great, but the feeling a new car gives you is really one of accomplishment!

magikitty That bank teller was awful nonchalant about your money. Can you report her to someone?
LivinInTheCastle Hope you feel better. :flower3: I only had morning sickness the first trimester. I liked being pregnant. It was the delivery that I didn't like.
D&DDisney Congrats on the new car! Everyone should have the fun of a new car once in their life. :thumbsup2

It rained for a long time here. Had about 0.5 of an inch. At least it cleaned off the tent trailer.
Looked at shore excursions for our Alaska cruise. :scared1: I'll never complain about prices of a Caribbean cruise again.

DL55, I love the pictures of your kitty. He/she has that look of trouble is his/her eyes! Of course, most kitties do. He/she looks a lot like one of our kitties except ours is a bobtail that looks like a little butterball. Our other cat would probably block me from the computer too but she is usually being stalked by the dog or my female child so she generally keeps a low profile. However, she does think she is the ruler of the house.... again, as most cats do.

whgrn, wonderful news for your father! We will be praying for him and the rest of you as well. Glad you are feeling better.

MagiKitty, so glad your computer is back to normal. Computer problems are such a pain!
Thanks for sharing your experience of where to find characters. You seem to have found an abundance in different places. Can't wait to see your Photopass pictures.
Interesting trip to the bank. You would think the bank would hire people who can at least read amounts on checks. BTW, which paid surveys do you do? I could always use some good recommendations!
I have been selling some miscellaneous stuff on ebay and have sold over $400 this month. Makes me think I could help out and save up a little before the big trip. Of course, I always do my share of spending on my Disney Visa so I can build up those reward points. I'm up to $168! By December I should have a good amount towards our souvenir fund.

LivinInTheCastle, those ultra sounds are always so exciting! Kinda like a chance to say hello to the little person. I hope you get to feeling better real soon! I did not have morning sickness with my first child but ahhhhh it was horrible with the second. I think she was already announcing that she was gonna be a stinker! Thank heavens it only lasts a short while.

D&D, congrats on the new car. I guess we must be in the minority. When we bought a new car we had the nicest car salesman ever! He wasn't bad to look at either. I have had to call back several times to talk to him and he is just the nicest man and always remembers me. I was just telling my DH that he was such a genuinely nice guy. (To which my smart-A son says "Either that or he is really good at his job.") We must have something about us that makes people feel like telling us their life story. By the time we had purchased our truck we knew that he had retired from bull riding and broken almost every bone in his body, he has a step-son that they had been having issues with who had just told them that he was gay, and even his religious affiliation. It ended up that he knew our preacher and his brother. So, not only did we buy a vehicle we got to invite the car salesman to attend church with us.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, we do have a friend who is a car salesman. He comes in somewhere at the borderline sleazy level. He has a friend we know who is the epitome of sleazy salesmen. Years ago we went camping with a group of people and met him. Unfortunately, I have a few memories emblazoned into my memory of him that I now wish I didn't. Suffice to say that we now refer to him by the name of "red drawers". He thought he was someone's gift but he was more like his poor wife's curse. Gives me shivers just thinking of him.

All this talk of TKers moving to Florida made me think there just might be a possibility for a real movie storyline there..... a whole neighborhood of "Tk-ing Housewives"! Imagine the possibilities!

racetrack18kb, We are taco lovers here as well!
You are so right about feeling the baby move! Absolutely the most incredible experience!!! I loved to follow the little ripple go across my belly. Such awesome moments!

We went to the zoo yesterday for my DD's birthday celebration. Her birthday is actually Monday. My baby is gonna be 9.

We were joined by my step-DD, DSIL and DGS. We had a great time but man was it HOT and packed. One of the guys working there said they had 4200 kids in the park on field trips. Guess they feel the need to give them one last hurrah before school is out. Thankfully the place is big enough that most of them were scattered out most of the time. I was so tired when we got home! I am still dealing with a headache from the heat. Good reason to hang out and take it easy today.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Weekend! God bless!

Enjoying some peace and quiet here, as the ex collected the kids to go to a BBQ. I am smelling all of my neighbors' cooking. Not making me hungry, but I am enjoying the smells!

For some weird reason, I keep getting these sharp, stabbing pains in various spots in my abdomen. Really painful, like sometimes it takes my breath away! No clue what it is. Other than that, I feel pretty good--maybe the best since surgery. Go figure. I will have to check my temp soon and see if I am spiking my normal evening fever. I hope not, but my feet ARE getting cold...

I took DS to Sleepys this morning to buy a new mattress for his new bed. They were having a huge sale. We found a good one that he really liked, I saw the price and said, OK, that will be $200 less because of the sale, that's a great price. Signed on the dotted line and realized there is no sale on the mattress becuase it is not a SET. He only needs the mattress, since he is getting a platform bed. Oh well, more than I expected, but way less than DD's set cost last summer, so I cant complain too much. Actually, the price difference almost completely makes up for the higher price of his bed! I am doing the same for him as for DD last year and redoing his room while he is at camp as a surprise. Normally would do it around his birthday in Feb, but that would be a real pain with him being here. So everything is ordered. His bedding came yesterday and it is AWESOME!!! All Mets design, great color, comforter, sheets, throw pillow and valences. I ordered shams, but realized that would just be a waste for him, so i will send them back. He is gonna plotz when he comes home and sees it all. Especially since he knows darned well he doesnt deserve it!!

MagiKitty
No chance of finding great food to eat--I have no appetite! And Mom is 25 miles away at her house. I hope to go see her Monday.

What a crummy teller! Sounds like you need a new bank!

D&DDisney
Yeah, going camping as a flat TKer IS as close as I am ever gonna get. Go for it!

Congrats on the brand new van! Gotta love that new car smell. I cant believe the prices they want for used ones, especially in this economy. That is just crazy.

LITC
Sorry you're feeling yucky. I hope you feel better in time for the concert. Tell Billy and Elton hello from me--I am SOOOOOOO jealous!

Marie
My ex used to sell cars. 'nuff said!

TKing Housewives?:lmao::lmao::lmao: That would be quite a show!

Happy Birthday to your DD!!!

Actually the sales person was quite nice. We too found out his life's story on the test drive. He's from Texas - some around Austin (can't remember name of town) It was the finance people who you have to watch out for. They try to sneak in fees and mess with the numbers so in the end you really have to THINK about what he just said and do the math yourself so you know you got the promised deal.

Happy birthday to your DD. They do grow up fast. :sad1:

Hey everyone!!! Weather was pretty good here today except for when the horrendous t-storm moved through while we were grocery shopping. It was one of those full-blown summer storms. We were only a couple of miles from our house but only a couple of drops of rain here.

We also had to spend the day running around trying to find DD6 a new Kyle Busch shirt. She had this great jersey with his name on the back and DH put it in the dryer on high heat. The numbers on the front got stuck together. She was pretty mad because she wanted to wear that shirt when we meet BIL on our vacation. He likes Jeffie Gordon and hates Kyle. So she wants to wear her shirt to tease him.

D&D, congrats on the NEW van. :woohoo: I do like our caravan. Our's is a 2005 and we haven't had any major problems with it yet. And those seats are the best. We never have to worry about how we are going to get something home anymore. Just fold the seats and load it up.

LITC, I hope you have a wonderful time at the concert. I wish I could have seen them too.

whgrn, you'll have to post pics after DS's room is done. The girls are now planning out their rooms for when we move. I swear they change paint color at least once a week.

marie, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to DD!!!!! They do grow up so fast. I just can't believe how quickly time has gone.

I remember when we moved to Lawrenceville. I was 7. Mom and Dad let us choose the colors for our rooms. DSis wanted yellow. I couldnt decide. Then I saw an ad that said "pink is for girls", and I was sold. I wanted a deep, rich, pink. I got a pale, baby pink that I never liked. DSis got a medium yellow.

When we got older and it was time to repaint, I really wanted a green room. I got peach. Hated it. DSis liked her yellow, so she just got a bright, sunny yellow. No fair!:lmao:

I vowed that my kids could pick whatever color they wanted. And damn if DD doesnt have a green room at 13!!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I also let them plaster their doors with posters and stickers. We were never allowed to put ANYTHING on our doors, and it drove me nuts.

Geez, I am such a rebel in my old age!

Hey everybody! I am feeling much better, thank you all for your well wishes. Must have been the luck of the concert that I was looking forward to because around 2:40pm yesterday it honestly just started to go away. It was really weird I could actually "feel" different symptoms just going away. Wasn't quite 100% for the rest of the evening, but felt so much better than the previous day and a half.

DL55-I am pretty darn scared of the delivery to! I am enjoying most of the pregnancy, with the exception of the nausea and the aching feet!

Marie-The ultrasound was amazing, but how do they now expect me to wait almost another 19 weeks to see the little one again? Not fair! I haven't felt alot of movement yet so seeing it move was aweseom, really lets you know the baby is ok!

Wendy-Billy and Elton send there love!

On to a but of the conert, OMG hands down the BEST concert I have EVER been to. Worth every last penny (and it sure cost plenty of 'em!) It was so good I honestly want to try to get tickets to the one in July in Columbus, but I really really can't spend that kind of money, and DH was sooo bored during the Elton segements, he's not a big fan, more knows his music from Disney than anything else I would have to say. Doesn't hate him but kept saying, Is this a new song? :rotfl: Sure hunny-if you think 1971 is new!!

Hope everyone has a great holiday-am going to try to get with my sister this weekend and try to get the crib-the room is 75% painted, 3 walls are done, one still needs to be worked on.

Enjoying a quiet Sunday at home.
Going to do some grilling later and relax on the 'ol patio.

Everyone have a happy and safe remainder of the weekend!

Just sitting here waiting for the race to start. Rain delay...I really hope they can run the race tonight.

We wanted to grill out tonight since we bought some really nice steaks. But sure enough, we had another wicked t-storm blow through. Our dog is still hiding under the bed even though the storm was over an hour ago.

whgrn, I am so laid back when it comes to kids rooms. Even now when we are renting (of course it helps that we get along great with the landlord). All the walls are marked up from posters and pictures being taped up. Most of the doorways have the little growth lines on them. The last time DD13 told me what she wanted to do with her new room, the colors are going to be lime green and black. I just say...whatever. Oh, and their doors are also written on. They are painted with the glossy type paint that you can just wipe off.

LITC, so glad you had a great time at the concert. I'm still jealous you got to go. And my DH would have been just like yours. I don't think I would even ask him to go if I had tickets. I would have to go with my mom who would at least enjoy the show and not roll her eyes over every song.

D&D, what did you cook on the grill? You watching the race?

Racer, I have that same kind of paint. Its the only way to go with little hands!

Went to visit my Mom today. She is doing pretty well. In fact, probably better than me! But I helped Daddy cook dinner while DBro helped Mom with packing soldier boxes, and we all had a really nice visit.

They are all worried that I have gotten so thin. Even *I* think I look too thin. At 169, I'm just too low, even though the number sounds high enough. I just cant eat much! I ate a little bit of pork chop, some applesauce and peas, and we got some ice cream so I had a little of that. More than enough for me, but way too little calorie wise. Hopefully I will start gaining soon. never thought I would hear myself say that!:lmao:

I may go back tomorrow and take the kids. They were with the ex again today. have to see what DS's mood is like. Mom doesnt need to deal with a grump!

Hope you all are having a good holiday weekend. (insert patriotic, flag waving smilie here...)

:flower3: Good morning all. It is a beautiful morning here, sunny, 42* and no wind. I am still reading, just not posting. Thinking good thoughts for all of you. Enjoy the rest of your day.

Chat later.

42 degrees Sukie? On Memorial Day? Dear God that is freezing!

It's 80 here. I had my slaves clean the patio furniture. It looks so nice out there now! I will get the pix up on Photobucket and post them in a bit. I love my back porch!

Have a good day everyone, and if you are driving, be safe!

Here are the pictures of our porch. You can't see how clean everything is, but trust me, it's clean!

whgrn Your back porch looks like it is ready for summer. Looks so relaxing. :cloud9:
We actually had some rain this weekend, still way too low. Went for a hike in the forest. It was so quiet except for the birds. I love the smell of pine trees. :cloud9: Planning to BBQ some chicken this evening.

Good evening everyone and hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. For those of you with military in your lives, please thank them for me. Being able to be an American is such a privilege.

I took my family to JFK yesterday. I'm not very good driving in a caravan, I was supposed to follow my brother, but boy does he drive slow! I couldn't take it after an hour, so I took off, but kept him in my site. It was sad to see my family go and we don't know when we'll see each other again. It was a good visit. They arrived safely this afternoon.

I have to go back to JFK on Thursday night to pick up my Dad. I've already enlisted the company of my older nephew. Mom and I actually kidnapped him yesterday and on the way back north, stopped at the mall. His shoes were atrocious, beyond worn in and my mother just couldn't take it. She takes it personally--she thinks its a reflection of her and the family. She draws the line at holes in shoes. So, we took him to Macy's and bought him some clothes (on sale of course!) and shoes. Now he has no excuse.

LITC--glad you're feeling better and that you were able to attend the concert! And the nursery sounds like its coming along nicely!

Marie--I do surveys for several companies. Pinecone research and mytwocents give money, the others rack up points that can be exchanged to gift certificates. For Pinecone, I get paid $3/survey, and often I qualify to test out products at home. Mytwocents gives between 1-3 dollars and you can cash them out in increments of $10. You can link a paypal account to both, so you can just let the money accumulate. And happy birthday to DD!

Wendy, the porch looks gorgeous and so homey. What a wonderful way to welcome summer with a little child labor. You must get your appetite back!

Hey Sukie! Good to see you around again!

Hello everyone else! Oh, I'm hungry....be back later!

Hi All,

Well, what I thought was going to be a quiet weekend of grilling burgers, race-watching and a little backyard gardening, turned out to be quite scary and crazy.
My MIL was rushed to the hospital right after I signed off on Sunday afternnon. She suffered a grand maul seizure and was rushed to the ER. FIL said she was quite serious. My DH was frantic because my in-laws live near Chicago - about 2.5hrs from us. So we quick pack overnight bags for all, put the kids and dog in the van and head out. My BIL and SIL also pack up their family and head to IL.
We were at the hospital until late Sun night when they finally stabilized her and got her to ICU. Both families headed to my in-laws house and try to find a place for 8 people to sleep. My MIL had a bunch of tests done and strangly enough the find NOTHING. All tests come back neg. How can someone have a G-maul seizure and they find NOTHING??? Not that I want them to find something serious, but kinda want them to find some reason for this.Thank God though she is doing well and recovering. Still very worried about her but glad she is stable. Any prayers you can send her way would be appreciated. Thanks!

whgrn - love the pics of your back porch. Very Home and Garden. :thumbsup2
Racetrack - Some race huh - NOT. I was happy though because my 2 B starters were Rutey and Newman and they came in 1st and 2nd. :woohoo:
Hopefully next week's race will be better. Congrats on winning the Dis NASCAR picks! :cool1:
