  Stupid machines!

Have you tried the Shout Color sheets? With DS and BLs things being so tiny, a red something was constantly sneaking into my light loads, so I don't do a load of wash w/o one now and they are really quite amazing. Its a box of little paper sheets that look kind of like dryer sheets. Drop one into your wash, and they work like a little color magnet, picking up the loose dye in the water. (Don't ask me how... magic as far as I'm concerned. :rotfl: ) They won't save you from major uh-ohs necessarily, but so far, they've done pretty well for the rogue red sock type situation.

Sorry about the car and other messes... seems to be going around these days. I got to donate some money to my local police yesterday. :rolleyes1 I was coming back from the doctor to work, late for a live show w/ Joan Rivers in it (who usually needs me to check her lighting) and I, apparently, zoned out a blew thru a stop sign. (Used to drive the road all the time years ago, and that sign didn't use to be there. Guess I just went on autopilot.) Next thing I know, flashing lights in my rear view mirror and "No, officer, I'm so sorry. I didn't see that stop sign." :confused3 I'm all up for accepting responsibility, but it does suck when I work so hard to save a few dollars here and there, and then I may as well just throw it out the window for a few minutes of not paying attention. At least he didn't give me any points.

Glad your mom yelled at DH. They can be so inconsiderate sometimes. They have their good moments too, but I do wonder if they male skull isn't just naturally a little bit thicker...

I LOVE those things and wouldn't you figure I didn't put one in:laundy: that time. I re ran the load with 3 of the things and they turned blood red:laughing: I guess I was on auto pilot too. Thank goodness it wasn't DH's dress shirts, but an accident might just befall them if he acts like he did about the car.....:scared1: :rolleyes1

Sorry to hear about your donation.:sad1: :scared:
....I would have told the cop exactly where you were headed-Lord knows Joan needs all the help she can get to look good.... you were really on a humanitarian mission or hazardous duty call...whichever one you choose;) had you not been there they would have had to resort to heavy veils.
I heard that the dimple in her cheek is really her naval;)she's been pulled and tucked so many times.

Lighttech Sorry for the ticket.:flower3: I think our cops don't have enough to do. Never in 25 years did I get a ticket in California. I've been here for 10 and have 3!
Bopsmom At least you know how to change a tire. :thumbsup2 I've tried to explain to the rest of the family why you don't put reds in with the lighter colored loads. I don't think they've figured it out yet. :sad2:
Oh, Cedar Point is another place I want to visit! Boy there sure are a lot of places I want to visit. :lmao:
It snowed on me while I walked the dog. :yay: It stuck to the dog a bit but not on the ground. In fact my DH is playing in a golf tournament as I type. :cool2:

OK, so WHAT and WHERE is Cedar Point? Never heard of it!

Bopsmom, sorry you're having machine issues! I hear you about the tire--went through that last spring and it was NOT fun! And AAA always takes forever and a week to get there. The washer story made me :lmao: since I've had my share of disasters. Slap DH AND DD silly from me! I'm SO impressed that you can change a tire. Never learned myself.

Lighttech so sorry you had to donate to the PD! I've done that before too--both going through the light/stop sign AND making the "donation". Not lately, so hopefully I'll be holding on to my $$$ for awhile.

"I heard that the dimple in her cheek is really her naval;)she's been pulled and tucked so many times."
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Poor Joan!

Well, we got a sprinkle of snow over night, and nothing but flurries on and off since. Mom and I went out to Target and Kohls this AM so I could do my returns. I changed the lightbulb in DD's room, changed the filters on the air vents in the hall, and loaded the old cable equipment into the car so I can return it next week (we got our FiOS hooked up Monday!) Now I don't know what to do with myself! Work on my Scotland scrapbook? Watch another episode of "Monarch of the Glen" on DVD? Waste time online? Ah, decisions, decisions!

Afternoon. Been snowing here all morning. Got a couple of inches already and it's suppose to keep up all day. Kids might actually get to play in snow instead of sliding along on the butts. :lmao:

Cedar Point is an amusement park, or actually a thrill park. Lots of roller coasters and some of them very intense. It's in Sandusky, Ohio. I've always wanted to go there but then I love thrill rides. The faster and higher a roller coaster, the better.

There is also Kennywood amusement park. It's in Pittsburgh. It's more of an old fashioned family amusement park, I think. DD12 went there last year for a band trip and I know they were also able to take a dinner cruise that she said was nice. Not sure how far that would be everyone?

Bopsmom, I hear about DH being idiots. Mine just got home this morning and the first thing he did in the house, was get on the computer. Didn't bother with the kids at all and sat there for 2 hours looking at stupid truck parts. Yeah, you've been gone for a few days, kids have begged to talk to you on the phone everytime you called but the first thing you do when you get home is get on the computer. MEN!!!!!!!1

We just made a donation too. Got a ticket for parking against traffic by our house. Been parking that way for the last 8 years. Our fault but still bites a little. Just glad it wasn't a big donation.

DH washes and dries the clothes so any mishaps are his fault. And I make sure I remind him of that. DD12 does her own so that's on her too. Makes it so much easier.

Hello Tkers!

I haven't been on in awhile but I have tried to keep up.

I have only ever had one ticket and if I remember correctly it cost me $2. In my town, from November through April (I think.) you can not park on the street from midnight to like 6am or something. Totally forgot!

whgrn: How is the tooth and swollen face doing? You didn't mention it in your last post so I assume you must be doing better. :goodvibes

Bopsmom: It's nice to hear from you. Sorry to hear about you "machine" troubles. ---That would be cool if you could do a December 09 Disney trip! Here's some pixiedust:!

I think it would be so cool to meet you ladies in person and doing so at a fun place would make it even more special! I so suck at driving so that would not happen but if a location reachable by bus is chosen maybe that would be an option. I have mentioned Hershey to DH and he just did the hmmm face with the head bob. Kind of like "That sounds interesting. Maybe......".

NH is suppose to be getting 3" to 6" of snow sometime tonight and into tomorrow. I have plans to go grocery shopping tomorrow morning but if the roads are yucky then I may wait till Monday.

Have a good day everyone!

Good snowy afternoon ladies! I may be on the road to recovery! Still have a nasty "smokers" cough, but not sneezing anymore, so I'm happy! We're going to get nailed today--we're in that lovely band of "10 plus" inches of snow on the newscast. Its really wet snow that's not going anywhere anytime soon.

M&N...I hope you decided to postpone your lunch date today! I don't want to worry about you out there!

I missed the talk on the summer meet-up. I'm in! I just need to know when and where! I'm hoping for Hershey myself, otherwise can the East Coasters car pool to Cedar Point?

Gas here is $1.89.

Ok, Wendy, its really annoying how you just lose weight doing nothing! (just kidding, sweetie!). For me, doing nothing equal a five pound GAIN at least! Glad to hear that the tooth issue is being taken care of. Please tell DD to be careful with the stove!

I've gotten one speeding ticket. I was doing 73 in a 45. It was on a back road and I was in the wrong. It was followed later that night with a blizzard, being kicked in the head at a concet, and waking up later that night by my drunken roomates talking smack about me. Of course, we were snowed in that weekend and I spent the time avoiding them all over the dorm. It was the weekend from hell.

And the ticket cost me $150.

Hey!

I was just talking to DH about June's trip. Since it is so early in the summer and DD and I have so much time on our hands I talked to him about maybe stopping at South of the Border on the way the DC or Ohio. He pitched a fit. I told him fine, fly home and DD and I will be Thelma and Louise. Since I can drive and do car repair.....:rotfl: I think I can handle a road trip. He was not pleased.....:rotfl2:

Thanks for the :pixiedust:

I always try to look forward to something and since DH is going the San Fransisco and Napa in March....business of course:lmao: (our friends are going to meet him there and I can't go because of DD's school) you would think he would consider taking a trip with us this summer. Hell's Bells( hey this may be the name of our road trip-Hell's Belles) he's got 3 weeks vacation and SF isn't taking a bit of it: what's his problem.:headache: He really doesn't like the thought of DD and I alone on the road-poor helpless females that we are:laughing:

It's getting colder here-nothing like what ya'll get but they say we are gonna have a killer freeze on Friday and I will have to re do a lot of landscaping if that happens.
I filled up the car today-$1.45 a gallon and it cost me 12.00-it was slam empty. I haven't had to put gas in it since coming through Mississippi on our way back from FL before New Years. It cost us $48.00 for our trip up and back to Disney. That's with4 people, car loaded, going 75mph with the AC on. Not bad. This is why I want to drive it more often: that and I hate to fly.

MagicKitty-glad to see you'd be in on a road trip.
Wendy-sounds like our DD's would be in trouble cooking. DD did that once, now she cooks with the ignition 'clicking' on the stove. She's tries and I have left her to the salads.

Hey, gotta cut some new basil seeds-did any of those come up for ya'll?? if not wanna try again????

Just tell DH that you had no intention of taking the trip w/o him, but based on his reaction to your flat tire, you now know that he completely trusts you and understands how independent you are. Then, thank him for having such confidence in you and for giving you the idea for this wonderful roadtrip with DD. (Then walk away and go somewhere that he can't hear you laughing while he fumes.) :rotfl:

BTW - Basil came up beautifully for us. Thanks again!

BTW - As far as those lugs go, I always had trouble w/ them too until I saw some tv segment years ago about women and automotive stuff. Silliest thing, but it always stuck w/ me. Women, in general, just don't have as much upper body strength, so loosening bolts and things like that that require a jolt of force is very difficult. The woman on the show recommended actually stepping on the tire iron. (Get it on the bolt, and then just let your weight do the work at the very end of the iron.) Your full body weight and the length of the iron give you the torque you need to loosen it. I've tried it before, and its worked very well.

That's how I was taught by my DDad how to do it (he raced cars and I think wanted to train us as his pit crew:confused3 ). but older cars have the right kind of tire iron for it-especially since they use compressor/hydrologic wrenches to put the lugs on nowadays.
The problem with mine is the tire wrench/iron was stick shaped-nothing to get a foot on and not an "x" or cross shaped which is the type you 'jump' on. I told DH that maybe for my birthday he'd get me one for the new car:lmao: our buddy the mechanic thought it was a great idea, DH-not so much.
:rotfl:

Funny story, I changed a tire after dinner in Downtown Houston and before my Junior Cotillion-in a formal gown and didn't get a speck on my dress-it was white with embroidered flowers. My date was totally useless and I actually dumped him after the dance because I can't stand a man that is 1) un-chivalrous and 2)not able to fix a car but I've kept DH for 15+ years-go figure.

Okay ladies....just passing through.... but I just got in from DS's Jiu-Jitsu class at the local gym and had a question I knew the TKers could help answer. Maybe it should be more like a poll. Does anyone else besides me think that shorts/pants with writing across the behind is obnoxious? I saw one today whose rear end said "sinful". Who in their right mind would want that penned across any part of their body? Granted she was adult and in good shape but....???? And what about the husband who doesn't mind his wife dressing like that? Why would he want to see people staring at his wife's butt? I am not sure who started the trend but I really find it appalling that they even have little sayings written on the backside of little girls clothing too. Anyone else know what I mean? Am I the only prude? Anyway, just felt the need to rant.
Gotta run now!

If there is any writing on my backside you can sure bet that I have charged rent for the space:thumbsup2
I know what you mean though. Even DD hates writing on backsides and she has a cute one.

I'm with you ladies! I just think its in bad taste to have anything across the backside. Why draw attention to your personal area? Of course, its terribly difficult NOT to look, just to see what someone would want to advertise across their backside. Sadly, it seems that a lack of tasteful dressing is the fashion...

Gosh, I sound so old!

I had that happen once. Trying to get to school on time w/ my DS in the backseat. I pull up in front of school and look in my mirror - only to see a cop. :headache: D'oh. My son starts getting upset in the backseat, asking if we're going to jail. Luckily the cop let me off w/ a warning since it was my first time. Later that day a little boy from my class comes up to me and says..."Mrs. D...I saw you get pulled over by that cop. Did he give you a ticket?" BUSTED!!!!!

It's getting colder here-nothing like what ya'll get but they say we are gonna have a killer freeze on Friday and I will have to re do a lot of landscaping if that happens.

Supposed to get very cold here too. High of 0 on Wed. :cold:
If you have some cilantro seeds this year, I'll take some.

I didn't get in on the herbs last year, but plan to have a bigger garden this year.

Fellow prude here too.
I know what you mean. Adult women don't bother me as much as young girls w/ that stuff. I am so glad I don't have a girl. The clothes for girls are terrible. Way too sexy for children.

I'm in for the meet in PA this summer!!!!:yay:
My DH and I were just talking about visiting Hershey this summer. He also said we should stop at that "Rollercoaster park in Ohio". Wasn't sure of the name until you all mentioned Cedar Point. Looks like we'll be stopping there too.
Right now we're thinking of stopping in Sandusky, OH, then going on to Hershey, PA. Next we have to stop and see that Liberty Bell (DS6 really insistant on that one :cutie: ) Then we'd like to go to DC. I'll be searching for some good places to camp in those areas.
2.gif
I know y'all aren't campers, but if you could let me know some good cities/towns to hit or avoid along our journey, I'd appreciate it. :thumbsup2

Just bopping by real quick...

Bopsmom - I am VERY impressed w/ the cotillion story. for strong "suthun'" women. :)

D&D - We haven't done much camping, but my ILs do, and they have had some very nice camping experiences around Hershey. If your looking for filler type things to do btw Hershey and Philly, look into Lancaster. Lots of stuff going on there from Outlet shopping to Amish Country to the Strasburg Railroad (working historical railroad that you can take rides on.) And its basically right on the way from Hershey to Philly.

Marie - Got to agree about the pants, and about how younger girls are dressing in general (I sound like such a foggie.) I've never cared what people wore, or how they dressed. I was really raised not to judge a book by its cover. But there's a big difference btw different or creative and inappropriate. I wonder about the parents that let their 6 year old wear an outfit that says "Tasty" across the butt. I think kids are not being allowed to be kids these days and that the clothing thing is a huge symptom of a bigger problem... Ok, off my soapbox... :rolleyes1

As for me, I must agree w/ whoever said that I better be getting paid advertising for anything I put on my bum. I'm certainly not going to draw attention to it for free!

Everybody else - Good luck w/ weather, etc. Talk to ya' later.

Oh, also, I just started to look into camping at Knoebels. Its in PA, and is a campground and "picnic park." Amusement rides, but also picnicking and a pool. And, there's no park admission, you just buy tickets, so it might be a nice place to stop and you guys could stay the night and just be able to ride a few rides in the evening w/o spending a whole lot. So far, it seems the campgrounds have gotten good reviews, but I've just started looking. I'm thinking we might spend a few days there this summer. We want to start doing more camping, but w/ the baby, I'd like to do someplace that has showers available since BL will be about 6mo then and Lord knows what he'll get into. :confused3 :rotfl:

Lighttech, I totally agree with you. I don't really care how people dress, it is an expression of themselves. I'm conflicted, I always feel that people, regardless of size or shape, should be proud of their bodies. But its the sexualization of little girls, actually the objectification of women in general, that is so troublesome. No one lets their little girls BE little girls. Now their just tiny versions of their teenage counterparts and its highly inappropriate.

I will fully disclose that I am not a camper. I will go for a cabin or even a cheapo hotel. This is so exciting. I've always wanted to really see the Lancaster area. Too often I'm zipping past on my way to/from DC!
