Congrats!!!

Wendy, sorry your sister's plans aren't exactly what you had hoped for. She's spending most of her time with you BEFORE your surgery! Will you be able to get someone to help you though?

I've secretly always wanted red hair (actually, the color of Wendy's daughter hair is the exact shade I envy. Her hair is gorgeous!) so I'm going to try it. .

I'm sorta playing the post-op thing by ear. When I am in rehab, I should have a sense of how much help I will or won't need. My mom can come for a couple days and help, and people from church will stop by, drive the kids, etc. if need be. I'm hoping to be driving once I've been home a week. We'll see!

Um, while I agree that my DD has GORGEOUS hair (thank you!) it's not red! Strawberry blonde maybe, but definitely not red.

Whgrn~ I hope the Giants win too.

:sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: I'm just  about that game. I'm blaming it all on the wind. Yeah, that's it, it was the wind...

Evening!!! We are watching Grease. The kids are not nearly amused by this morning as DH and I are. They just don't know what good entertainment is. :lmao:

Congrats D&DDisney on the 2000. You could look into the Quakertown, PA area for places to camp. It's a little more than 30 minutes north of Philly. It's also about 1 1/2 hours from Hershey. You could also look into the Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton area too. It's about 15 minutes north of Quakertown. If you want any help about the area, just let me know. I'd be more than glad to give you whatever info I can.

whgrn, I am so NOT an Eagles fan. I'm ticked that the Giants lost. :furious: My dad likes the Eagles and I will not hear the end of it for a long time.

DD12 has "dyed" her hair with wash out stuff. If this is the only thing she wants to experiment with so far, I consider myself ahead of the game. She didn't ask for anything outrageous just to darken it a little. Now I would never even think of doing anything to the little ones hair. It's just wrong. Not that they would let me either. They have no interest in that kind of stuff.

Had the Dorothy Hamill haircut too. I think it was a requirement of the time. :lmao:

Bopsmom, great poem. But it made me feel like eating too. :rotfl2:

I'm SO glad to hear that racetrack! I told DD if she keeps lording it over DS about the game, she will NOT watch next week's game against AZ!! I also reminded DS that HE went against the family to become a Mets fan, and we didn't make him move out or give him over to foster care (those are his suggestions for his sister, since it's "her fault" the Eagles won...)

I think letting kids do little, basically harmless things like a temporary hair dye, or a SINGLE ear pirecing, is fine, becuase you can use it as leverage to prevent future insanity. I've told DS he can get his ear pierced at 13, but NOTHING else until he's paying his own way after college! And I let him grow his hair long as long as he took care of it and kept it neat. It got shaggy and messy, it got cut! DD? NO interest in any of that stuff. She'd be bald if she had her way--hates her hair and having to do anything with it (including comb it, sadly!) And needles? Forget it! There will be NO tatoos or piercings in her future! I'm lucky I got the ears pierced when she was 4, and that 2 girls did them at the same time. Otherwise she'd be left with just one ear pierced!!

I think you're right about the Dorothy Hamil cut. I don't know ANYONE my age who didn't have one! Sadly, my hair is so fine and limp it really didn't work on me, and I got it cut shorter about 2 weeks later. My mom made me keep my hair short--she always said fat girls should have short hair. I SO don't agree--I always thought i looked better with it longer!

Good Monday morning everyone! Its a sunny, gorgeous, FRIGID day here--its about 10 degrees outside and they're predicting a cold front is COMING later this week??? I think 10 degress is pretty darn cold already!

I'm taking advantage to the clear morning to run errands before the trip. I can't beleive I'm leaving this week! I have to go to the post office, the bank, stock up on pet food.

I always thought fat girls should have longer hair, fool the eye into thinking "longer" face too. Short hair just emphasizes the big head IMO.

I'm sorry about the Giants. I don't follow football, but I know that it would have been good for us to go to the SuperBowl.

Must....stop.....online....shopping! Two years ago at EPCOT I saw the Karito Kids doll and really wanted the Chinese one. But it was too early in the trip to spend that much money. Went back last year, armed with my spending money and couldn't find them anywhere! Found out last night the dolls are on sale at costco.com. Talked it over with BF and he said to just buy it already. I've been talking about this **** doll for two years already! Just get it! I am super duper excited. He doesn't get the entire Asian doll fetish I have, but he does humor me. He's a keeper.

Sukie Glad you are feeling better. :flower3:
D&DDisney I forgot to say Congrats on your 2000 posts. :guilty:

Howdy Ho,
It's the calm before the storm here. Expecting 5 inches of snow tonight - AGAIN!!! Bitter cold tomorrow and then 5 more inches - AGAIN - on Thurs.
Kitty, I really wish I was going w/ you to the Phils. :sad1: Any room in that suitcase of treasures you're taking?

:lmao: Sukie! Eyelash extensions are actually rather relaxing! You lie down on a table and someone sits behind your head. They massage your forehead and scalp first. They separate your lashes and attach the falsies one by one with a special glue. The room is darkened and they play calming music. The place I go to gives you some tea before you go lie down and 45 minutes later (yes, I've fallen asleep) I have gorgeous sexy lashes! Some of the best $40 I've spent! The lashes last about 3 weeks and the first follow-up is free. The worst part is not being able to rub my eyes. But then again, I'm not supposed to be doing that anyway--creates wrinkles!
My DS10 has the most beautiful long dark, eyelashes. Everyone compliments him and wishes they had them (me included). He HATES them. Go figure :confused3

I personally think long, loose hair on old people (tons of winkles and gray hair) doesn't look very good. But if they wear it up it's fine. But who cares what I think? :rotfl:
You're so funny! :rotfl2: We care what you think. Your opinion is always welcome here. That's what's so great about the people on this thread. You can speak your mind or have a difference of opinion, and it is completely accepted. :grouphug:

:sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: I'm just  about that game. I'm blaming it all on the wind. Yeah, that's it, it was the wind...
So sorry about NYG losing. I really didn't have an opinion either way, but I'm still sorry it made you so sad.

My other soul sister...

I feel your pain.
Thanks for the PA info. I'll definitely keep in touch as we plan further. Right now we're in the talk planning stage. Next we have to plan a date. Is there a date y'all have in mind?????

Sukie and Pikester - Are you headed to PA this summer too? Or going elsewhere????

Evening!!! Had a lazy day today. I wanted to clean and start packing some things away but just couldn't get motivated. Maybe tomorrow. Or the next day. :lmao:

whgrn, I'm just picking my battles with DD12 right now. Want to change your hair color a little, that's cool. I can live with that. You want to bleach your hair white and add blue, pink, purple and black stripes. Not in my house. A little bit of lip gloss and some eye shadow, that's fine too. But I've seen some of the girls her age wearing a face full of makeup. They are 12 and wear more makeup than I do when I go out with DH.

D&D, how much snow have you had this year so far? Are you going to beat last year's total? I don't have any date in mind for the meet. I can just tell DH to take the day off whenever and just go. Whatever works best for you and your family is cool with me. :thumbsup2

DL55, I hardly every catch you on here. What's new? Nobody should have long gray hair unless they are a hippie who doesn't realize it is now 2009 not 1969. (jk) :rotfl2: Actually it makes no difference to me how people want to wear their hair. Obviously some look better than others but if they are happy with how they look, that's good for me.

Magikitty, you are going to have to give us the exact dates you will be gone. Or else we'll have to start the kitty watch like we did last year.

Racetrack, hope you enjoyed your lazy day! Its this kinda of weather and after the holidays that is perfect for just taking your time to do somethings. You should make your kids watch Grease 2 and Xanadu while you're at it. I love those! My sister and I can do all the song&dance numbers.

Kitty watch! I love it! :lmao: I'm leaving Thursday night and will be back Feb. 15th night. It seems so long! But when I sat down with the calendar and marked out my activities, it doesn't seem enough! Of course, I'm planning to NOT have jetlag next weekend...I can't afford to lose those days! I'll try to get to the computer cafe often and keep everyone posted on my adventures!

I did check the forecast for Roxas City, Philippines. The entire week is 81/77 with afternoon showers. Perfect siesta weather! After today's high temp of 14, 81 sounds amazing! I just have to survive the airplane ride. So not looking forward to that.

I've also been eating my "last minute" foods. Mainly milk, sandwiches, and beef. There aren't a lot of cows in the Phils; most beef we get is from either Australia or Japan. There is Parmalat there, the irradiated shelf milk, which is ok but not like real milk. I have strange cereal cravings when I'm over there.

We were teasing DD12 that we were going to buy Grease 1 & 2 to watch in the van when we take her and her best friend to one of those indoor waterparks for her birthday. I think I'll have to add Xanadu to that list. DH knows all the parts (male and female) in Grease 1 & 2. I wonder if DD will want to go on any trips with us after this? :rotfl:

You probably have the cereal cravings because you know you can't have "real" milk. And that month is going to fly by. Of course after a week, everyone is going to be asking when you come back....I'll have to make a mental note of which post had your dates in it.

Whoa, congrats D&DDISNEY, 2,000 posts that is pretty incredible.

Well I am SUPER DE DUPER excited right now, as I just found out my absolute favorite Billy Joel is coming to concert in May (with Elton John who I like his older stuff) but whoooooooooooooooooooooo hooooooooooooooooo Billy's coming!

So MK is there an address in the Phils we can send stuff...as usual I'm behind the 8 ball and still have your parcel here. It's all packaged nice but hasn't made the mailbox yet!!

Hey there LITC! I heard they were going on tour! I'd love to go see them...I just can't imagine how expensive tix are going to be! What is your local venue for concerts?

Ev, I gave you my address, right? Just send it to me, no rush though. My Dad is heading to the Phils the first week of March so I can send it with him then....

Oh0oh! Lets get group tix to see Billy and Elton in Pa during our TKer meet! I thought that M&N said that Hershey had concerts, we can dance there!

Yeah, I was super excited, I know Billy played about two weeks worth of dates at Hershey this past summer. Tickets for this one go from 55 all the way to 180. I am thinking about getting the 100.00 ones. I hope I get close, maybe I can smell Billy.................................

My all time faves too.
I have wanted to go to either one's concert for years-separately or together.

I told DH that I want to see them but they are sold out in Houston(a Thursday night) but are playing in San Antonio that Saturday. I can't do scalper prices.

LITC, I would love to see Billy and Elton. Grew up listening to them with my parents. "Allentown" is about 5 minutes from here.

Hey Bopsmom, I wish you were closer to me, we could have a TK meet!!!
I haven't seen them together in at least 12 years I think. And Billy I have seen a few times alone since then. I better break out ALL my Billy and Elton CD's to get prepared, can't flub a word when singing along. :rotfl:

Just stopping by real quick. I've barely recovered from my illness (not feeling poorly, but still run down) and yesterday evening poor DH started throwing up and running a fever. Then, sure enough, DS3 was in our room last night and was running a fever too. But, he's coughing and blowing his nose. Seems like all 3 of us had/have the flu of some sort, but totally diff't symptoms. So much for the flu vaccines we ALL got! But, I took over yesterday, and although DH stayed home from work today (which he never does) he was in bed all day, so no break there. I'm home w/ both boys tomorrow, and from the sounds coming from DSs room the poor kid is not going to be too happy tomorrow, so I definitely need to get to bed. But, I couldn't not at least say hi.

Keeping my fingers crossed BL is o.k. I'm guessing I'll need to take some time off to take care of poor little DS. I don't mind, but I only have 5 hrs of sick time built back up after maternity leave, and DH only gets 3 days all year. :scared1: I don't want BL to get sick anyway... but I don't know how we're going to figure out days off. AND ITS ONLY JANUARY!! :scared1: We are going to have to be a picture perfect healthy family for the rest of '09 :rotfl:

Anyway, I only skimmed, but I think the hair thing is pretty personal. I've started getting mine a little shorter, but I let it grow long in btw if it doesn't drive me crazy so that I can donate to Locks of Love (you have to have 8-10 inches.) My face really shows it when I'm tired, and I'm always tired, and I think that longer hair kind of drags down my face and accents it even more. But, there are a few "older" women at work who have longer hair and look just great. I haven't yet cut my hair short enough that I can't mostly pull it back... I really need to be able to get it out of my face for work.

As for coloring. I started going grey at 25, so a hearty YES! from me. Plus, I'm not a huge fan of my natural color anyway. I used to be platinum blonde when I was little, then it sort of went to a very blah mousy brown. I kept the blonde thing going for a while, but it was too much trouble and too much money. Now, I just get a grey coverage, brunette color w/ a little bit of red (I've got a little red in my hair anyway) at the grocery store and do it myself.

I've never really thought about kids and coloring... one thing I hope I don't have to worry about w/ 2 boys! :rotfl: But, I think it kind of goes hand in hand w. the clothes thing. Kids should be allowed to be kids w/o all these pressures about looks and style. Although I do remember occasionally coloring my hair w/ KoolAid when I was a little, but that was mostly for fun in the summer or for a school spirit thing or something. And it washes right out.

Well, g'night all!

Both are amazing! "We Didn't start the Fire" was the big song my senior year in high school....Now I want to listen to Elton. I love his song "kiss the bride"

I got this from my FIL usually I don't like to pass along stuff but this is really cute.

This is something quite different and a delight

HEMA is a Dutch department store. The first store opened on November 4, 1926, in Amsterdam. Now there are 150 stores all over the Netherlands. HEMA also has stores in Belgium, Luxemburg, and Germany. In June of this year, HEMA was sold to British investment company Lion Capital.

Take a look at HEMA's product page. You can't order anything and it's in Dutch but just wait a couple of seconds and watch what happens.

Don't click on any of the products pictured, just wait and see what happens. And be sure you have your sound turned up.

This company has a sense of humor and a great computer programmer, ya?
