Four-mer TKers...4 one, 4 all, 4 ever

Ok, here's the fire story. On our way home from grocery shopping, we see tons of black smoke in the distance in the direction of our house. It was also in the direction of the place where my brother works which had caught fire late last year. As we are getting closer, we realize that it's not close enough to be near our house or the workplace.

7:30...a few minutes after we get home, DH's phone rings. It's DS's mom saying they would drop him off at 8:05 because they are traveling. DS gets home even later than that and when he walks in, he reeks of smoke. Turns out when she called us, they were leaving to go see the fire. She decided to take her 2 kids, one of the 9 years old, to go watch this fire.

It was a very bad fire. 4 houses were destroyed and two others severely damaged. 7 firefighters were taken to the hospital and there are still some people's pets missing.

I just can't imagine deliberately getting in the car with my kids to go watch someone else's house burn down. Especially a fairly young child. And I can see if that interests people but I just don't think it's "right" to teach your kids to "gawk" at other people's misery.

And of course, it totally annoys me just because it was her. :rolleyes1

Thought this was funny and wanted to share.

I forgot that I wanted to share about my helping Sukie's friend plan her August WDW trip. She will be staying at Pop and since I've stayed there twice I figured I could give her some insight.

Well, you would think that since my Mom gave her a Passporter for her birthday back in December and knowing that she was meeting with us to help plan her trip she would have atleast read the book; even a little bit. I passed along my recommendations on room requests and any tips that I could think of to help make her trip more enjoyable. That is about all I could do. It's up to her if she wants to use my info. Her DH already said that he didn't want their days planned. He wants their 6 year old son to be able to get up in the morning, decide what he wants to do that day and then go do it. All I could think was "Good Luck with that".

Well, I'm off to bed. DH actually had to get the fan out because it's so darn hot. LOVE IT!!

Cute smilie Pikester. I haven't had time to go smilie hunting in a while.

Pikester, we are Disney "freaks" :lmao: so it's a bit different for us. Maybe that type of touring will work for them. I just hope they don't plan on strolling into the parks at 11am and thinking they will get on every ride with no wait.

You told them it will be hot, right? I hope they paid attention to that. We went in August and I swear I could see the kids just melting out there. Me, not really, I love the hot weather. But they were exhausted after only a few hours out there.

Hey, you never filled us in when that kid's mom came to pick him up. What did you say to her?

Night!!!

I'm using my little fan in my bedroom tonight. I didn't uncovevr the central ac yet---just for spite! I have to get the guy to check it out first anyway.

If they feel that way about the trip, what can you do? A lot of people do miss out because they didn't know about certain things. Their kid's 6. I'm sure they will get enough out of it for him....and they won't realize it if they don't.

My computer is slow. I tried to get on to vote for DWTS and could not. They don't give very long to do it. I wanted to vote for Ty...not that he's the best but he is sure trying. He certainly had improved too.

Anyone going to talk tonight?

We've got some window fans in but we won't use AC. Unless it would hit a 100 for more than a week.

I don't know...the heat just doesn't affect us as much as other people. No wonder we are moving to Florida.

You are welcome to the heat! I like 70!

Mom just called my cell all hyper because the Phillies won...they keep coming from behind.

So how did you do on the Cup picks? I had a 2, 6, 22, 23, and 39! I think you will stay ahead of me again. I did enjoy the race. At least it's a race and not 2 people ahead of everyone else. A lot had a chance until the end. Of course some got out real early.

I don't even want to discuss my Cup picks this week. :rotfl: You beat me along with a lot of other people. But I didn't come in last at least.

I loved the race....except for Carl flipping. I can usually watch the race and stay pretty reserved. :rolleyes1 But the obscenities were flying on the last lap.

I hate the races when it's just one or two cars switching the lead. So boring. But that outside lane was fast yesterday.

I was sure thinking of you with Jr on Kyle's bumper. Carl said he never flipped before...I'm sure it has to be scarey even though they don't say it. Was he the one who said he was waiting for something to come inside the car and stab him? It is amazing how safe the car is though. The fence did save a lot of grief in the stands. A lot more could have been hurt. I was thankful no one was standing or walking along it like they usually do...I guess since it was the last lap everyone was still in their seats...at least standing at their seats. I was glad for Brad to win. It'll help his owner and himself to get a ride next year.

As much as I dislike Jr, out of everyone, I would want him to be pushing Kyle to the front. Jr is an awesome plate racer (and I won't admit that I said that :lmao:). He's just had bad equipment this year. I honestly think that the only 2 drivers who get really good stuff from Hendrick on a consistent basis are Jeffie and Jimmie. Everyone else will get a bone thrown to them once in a while to keep them in line.

I am really sick of the commentating this year so far. DW is a butt kisser and none of them can see for anything. I do believe they said they couldn't see any debris fly into the stands. Unless they meant car debris but I know I saw stuff flying into the stands.

AOL is going to cut me off...all my screen is not showing...in case I cannot get back...night...

It restarted. AOL doesn't usually give a message that it's encountered a problem but this time it did. Then it restarted itself. I just go with the flow...

I agree about the announcers. DW knows it all and makes sure everyone knows he knows it all---but funny thing is HE DOESN'T!!! I like the prerace show with Kenny Wallace and Jimmy Spensor. Kenny thinks he knows it all too but he's funny about it.

I love Kenny Wallace "Herman". I think he's a riot but then I do have strange sense of humor. Spencer is cool... he is "local". And when he broke Kurt Busch's nose....well, that was so well deserved. We also love Ken Schrader. He's just he guy who loves racing for racing.

I miss the old Nascar show with Bestwick, Schrader, Mikey, and Benson.

I used to like DW especially when he commentating when Sr died. It really hit him hard. But now, it's like he's afraid to tell it like it is.

OGM! It was such a Monday Monday! I am so glad it is almost over! One of those stress filled days.....
First off, I am so tired of battling the bulge and getting nowhere. On the bright side, it is not that time of month so at least I am not overly bloated and dealing with a migraine too.

Next, we had testing done to check for mold in the house. The results came back. We do some high levels of various mold. On the bright side, it was at least not the black toxic stuff. So now, I need to decide what to do next....

Then, this month our income was $2000 less than usual and not looking to improve anytime soon. On top of that DH worked on the tractor and took some parts to the machine shop. When he got the bill it was $700 so that came out of the month's funds as well.
So... DH asked me if we were gonna be okay financially a few days ago... I tend to stick my head in the sand and just pay the bills and hope that if I don't think about it the problem will go away. However, this time I got out the calculator and came up with the total we spend on an average month. It was not good.
So... after DH went in late because it rained and then came home early I decided it was time to share the financial situation with him so I wouldn't have to decide how to fix it by myself. (and also so he would know it was serious and not be spending any unnecessary money.) So I got a load off my chest and felt some relief myself but I know he is gonna be gloomy for several days. On the bright side, we came up with a few ideas to help but it ain't gonna improve overnight. Money worries suck!

I hope things look better in the morning. I know that we are so blessed compared to many, many people. And, I do know the good Lord will provide the things we need.

My DD did say something today that gave us a good belly laugh....
First, a little background. She is pretty sheltered and still very innocent. She follows me everywhere I go which often includes into the bathroom. So far, I have not shared too many things with her about the way women's bodies work. However, last week I decided to try to explain a little about periods.
Now, fast forward to today. We were playing a game with DS. While she plays she jabbers constantly cause that's just what she does. So the topic for the moment was why she thought it would be good to be a boy.... so in from of my son she says........(drum roll please...
drumroll.gif
) Well, at least I wouldn't have to have a bloody crotch! I almost fell in the floor. And of course, DS was almost hysterical!

I think the group has been told who to push on us. Like everyone is supposed to want Mark Martin to win. At least they haven't been pushing JPM this year--I guess because he didn't do too great last year. DW used to act like he was for Jr but I don't think they talk too much about him this year except to say he had better do good this year. My FL friend said there's been a lot of negative things said about him this year but didn't say what specifically except that he wants to do things his way...but then who doesn't?

OMG, Marie, you owe me a new monitor. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

But in light of everything, I'll take a raincheck on that. Oh, I hear you about the loss of income due the weather (?). DH works construction and in between the weather and people just cutting back, it's been hard. DH tries to work as much as he can but there is only so much he can do. Work hours really don't fall out of the sky for us.
