Hey everyone. I tried to catch up but gave up on page 6! Maybe later. I did do the last 2.
I had a great Christmas. Sounds like you all did too. At least the weather was good. Wed am we had ice but it was ok when I went to Mom's. There was ice on the trees here but not the 20 minutes to Mom's.
I saw Bolt in 3D. All you dog lovers should like it...even the cat lovers.
My topic for discussion is what to eat for New Year's day...traditions???

Hey M&N! Glad you had a great christmas.
Love the snowmen in your siggie. Maybe I'll climb onboard with you for that goal.

No big NY day tradition here unfortunately. Just whatever is around the house!

I want to go to the Flower festival at EPCOT so I may fly down in March or April. I really don't want to go at Easter. Haven't decided but did check and there's 79 one way out of Harrisburg. Think it goes to Sanford though. My friends don't mind driving there to get me. Mom said she's definitely not going.

I know it would really suck, but could you switch to a less expensive hotel? Are those discounts still available? I haven't been following the Disney discounts so I'm not sure.

If you can't switch, do those rooms come with a kitchenette? If they do, you could have some groceries delivered and save a bunch of money that way.

Have there been any hints that your job might be in jeopardy? I know the economy stinks right now and I'm worried about it too.

If you are really worried, maybe just postpone and see if they offer free dining again. It seems right now, Disney is throwing discounts out left and right.

Here in PA Dutch country, it's pork and sauerkraut. My parents are from VA so that's pork and black eyed peas. It's supposed to bring you luck for the new year. We're eating out so I can have neither! :rotfl: Juat remind me what I did when I start having problems! Actually Mom's fixing it for Sunday so she can have leftovers. She actually loves it and so I say I'll suffer 1 a year!

We also considered getting two rooms at Caribbean Beach, but my sister really wanted to do the Boardwalk, since this would probably be the only was we could ever afford to stay there again. they do not have kitchens, but you do have free access to the concierge level, so you can get free soda all day, free continental breakfast, small meals, etc. We booked the last week of November and at the time they said they had to book by Dec. 20. I am not sure if they extended it or not.
Also my sister would have to pull her kids out of school which is not a certain thing yet either, so I am still not sure the trip will take place. And as much as I want to go--I don't want to go and be miserable.

There has been no specific signs that my job is in danger, but then again. Several people showed up today-the first day we were open from the Christmas break and got laid off---until at least August!!!!!!!!!!!!! You never know with small family owned companies.

We always have to have pork and sauerkraut too for good luck. Been like that for as long as I can remember. I don't make it but my mom does and I always go to her house just for a little taste. I can't make it here because DH hates the way it smells. :lmao:

Go with your gut feelings on this one. You definitely don't want to go if you are going to be worrying most of the time you are there. It would put a serious damper on your trip. Disney will always be there. And if you can't make it work this time, when you do get there, the trip will all that much sweeter.

Yeah---and talking about Disney with friends does help. Plus we have our pictures.

Hey Racetrack---Did I miss you posting any Flat TKer pics? I just caught up on Shmu's TR and saw us there.

Just speaking from experience. Our first family trip was in 99. We didn't make it back until 06. Something always came up when we had one planned. But when we finally made it back down, it was our best trip yet. Wish I could recreate that one.

I don't think we can go hoping to recreate another trip. There's always something new and different. The last time my friends who live there did things they hadn't done. Do you think going too often takes away the magic? I know my friend doesn't--especially for MK. But I'm not too sure.

I know we could never recreate that trip but in my own little fantasy world, I would love to recreate that feeling we had when we finally made it back there after so long.

I don't think it will ever lose it's magic to me. I think what we are having problems with is that a week is never enough but we can't afford to stay longer than that. We always seem to be in a rush and miss so much. Go, go, go because we won't be back for a year.

I'm going to love to be able to go whenever we want. If I want to spend the day just people watching, parade watching or show watching, I can. I think it will be even more magical to be closer. Feeling down in the dumps, we can head over to the Magic Kingdom and just enjoy ourselves. I don't know, it's hard to explain how I feel about it.

I didn't post them because I was waiting for disney54us to pop on over and give the go ahead. I'll have to email her and see what's up. Plus I am taking us all somewhere in a couple of days but it's a surprise.

OK---I can wait...:yay: I love surprises!

I think you said it exactly right about the rushing part. There is something magical about MK for sure. I did enjoy EPCOT more this year when we did it in 2 days instead of craming it in 1. We didn't even stay for the fireworks either time.

I used to go to Colonial Williamsburg several times a year. I just loved to stroll around and soak up the atmosphere. Then my friend got married and I could not get anyone to go along. My mom doesn't like it that much and it was hard for her to even walk around without places to sit.

Guess I had better head to bed now...it's midnight...night...
