Found old safe in my basement

I think the brother can't get there until tomorrow. I live near Rochester and the local news hasn't run a "safe" injury story......yet

OK, who's bringing lunch? It's well past time for more munchies.

I'm figuring today has gone like this so far:
BIL showed up. They looked at the safe & discussed for quite a while. Then decided to get a drill bit, like someone else mentioned.

It's been taking so long just to drill through the first layer of steel, that the bit broke & they had to go buy another. (They aren't even inside to the inner mechanisms yet.)

Then the drill burnt out, so they had to go get that replaced. Then the fuse blew & that needed to be replace.

By this time, they needed lunch.

Now they are realizing that even if they get the safe open, they will have to prop the door up somehow so they can kind of slide & pull the door away.

Maybe they also went to buy a stethoscope somewhere... I imagine those old combination locks were easier to hear the tumblers rotating into place. At least, it was that way in the old cowboy movies.

You forgot about the obligatory beers that go with BIL visits!!!!! I'm sure that will fit in your story somewhere...

I am here!!! I did not leave you guys!!!!

Here is the deal. I had to WORK today!! I am just swamped, and if there isn't anything in the safe, I will need to have my job on Monday!!!

I got home tonight and my husband has the back of the safes first layer of metal off. There is concrete and lots of it. This is going to take some time people. He was filthy and covered and in dust and black soot. The whole house smells horrible!!!!!

Another biggie, I left my cable that hooks up to my camera at work!! Since I don't go to work tomorrow, do you guys want me to post what I find in it if we get it open and follow up with the pictures on Monday or shall I wait until Monday to post it all? (assuming we get into it tomorrow)I work 35 minutes away so I would rather not spend an hour plus gas to go get it.

Let me know what you guys want. I don't want to disappoint anyone!!! I have to go plug in some plugins and spray some Febrezee, main this place stinks............. And I am suppose to show my house on Monday!!! I wonder if it some dis'ers trying to get at my goods????
