Ok, my husband says go get the cable at work. You have to post the dis'ers some pics of the safe as it is now. He is going to eat some dinner and I am going on a road trip. I will be gone an hour and then I will post some pics as far as it is now.

I don't know what kind of a camera you have but if you have a electronics store closer, you can probably pick up a spare cable. I don't think it would save you money but it may save you some time. I have a cable at home and another at work and I love not having to remember to grab it everytime I travel between the two.

I just spoke to my BIL and I sent him this link and he will tell you how to get into it. He also told me to warn you after 20 years in the buisiness, and opening many long, lost safes, they have never found anything more exciting than paperwork. He said the coolest thign was a handwritten doctors receipt for a housecall that was $15.00.

He's on the way here and will look at the safe and I will post back in a few minutes!

I am here!!! I did not leave you guys!!!!

Here is the deal. I had to WORK today!! I am just swamped, and if there isn't anything in the safe, I will need to have my job on Monday!!!

I got home tonight and my husband has the back of the safes first layer of metal off. There is concrete and lots of it. This is going to take some time people. He was filthy and covered and in dust and black soot. The whole house smells horrible!!!!!
Another biggie, I left my cable that hooks up to my camera at work!! Since I don't go to work tomorrow, do you guys want me to post what I find in it if we get it open and follow up with the pictures on Monday or shall I wait until Monday to post it all? (assuming we get into it tomorrow)I work 35 minutes away so I would rather not spend an hour plus gas to go get it.

Let me know what you guys want. I don't want to disappoint anyone!!! I have to go plug in some plugins and spray some Febrezee, main this place stinks............. And I am suppose to show my house on Monday!!! I wonder if it some dis'ers trying to get at my goods????

Ummmm- it smells??!!!! hmmmmmmm..... maybe my earlier post was correct!! Make sure you have holy water and sage and, uh, maybe some garlic, too!! LOL!!!

Okay, well it seems that you are the proud owner of a fire safe, usully used for documents as it has no burgular protection. He says that a locksmith will not be able to help, but he has safe people he deals with in your area and will supply a name Monday if you want. He said often people restore them to use as a decorative peice in the hosue.

How can it not be a burglar safe? Back in the early 1900's wouldn't a combination lock BE a burglar safe? Times weren't very high tech back then.

I really didn't want to get sucked into another thread like this-neighbor watch has been mentioned and I am still stewing over that one-but now I have read the WHOLE thread and it's not open!!!!

It is a very cool piece....but blow the darn thing open already!!!
