So now I regularly use their toothpaste for sensitive teeth and their silicone mouth/bite guards. (my dentist says it's working great!)

Lately I've had problems with some new shoes. Can't go for a walk more than a few blocks without getting major hot spots. I simply could not figure out how to solve the problem as it wasn't in your typical area for a blister to form.

I've looked at various shoe inserts but dang they all cost so much. I checked out the inserts at Dollar Tree and chose one that goes at the ball of your foot, just under the toe area.

THEY'RE WORKING!!!

The toothpaste I used to buy was $4-6 for a small tube.
The mouth guards my dentist wanted to fit me for were gonna cost $300+.
The cheapest shoe inserts I found was at Target for $3.99.

I love finding all those things for a buck!! LOL

What's your latest cheap find?

Don't visit the other topic... they all think it contains lead made by children in sweat shops.

I've recently used their carpet cleaner and it works pretty good. Although the hand soap didn't have any great scents, but I prefer the antibacterial soap.

It's always fun to find good stuff for just a buck.

I love Dollar Tree! I get handsoap, dishwasher powder (works just as good as the expensive stuff), dish detergent, bathroom/toilet cleaners, snacks for the kids (I teach and my kids come by my room at break-I keep nabs and those peanut butter cookies-6 packs for $1!!!!), just bought a set of glasses (really pretty with green and burgundy leaves), cards, toys, holiday decor, etc. I gave all my students who met 1st 9 weeks goals a goody bag full of candy, pencil, etc last week, all from Dollar Tree:).

Also, the pregnancy tests are supposed to be among the best. I buy a couple for my sister every month and sneak them to her-no one but me and her dh know she is trying to conceive.........

I'd be angry if a teacher gave my kids candy from the dollar store. Alot of it says "made in china" and the last thing I want my kid to eat is candy made in china. I would never eat or buy any food from the dollar store. Also no cleaning products, cosmetics, soaps ect. I was the one who said my Dh thinks it could be made in sweat shops and covered in lead paint, and it's true, it's mostly cheap junk of very poor quality and most of it looks iffy. I buy greeting cards their and sometimes a workbook for the kids and that's it.

So, we're all going to die of lead poisoning from anything at the Dollar Store. Everything is tainted by China. OMG...really:confused3

My husband thinks his farts don't stink...he's mistaken about that too.

hmmmmm.....same brands you get at other stores???? Tootsie rolls, smarties, and dum dum suckers......:confused3

I buy Lysol cleaning products there, Joy dishwashing liquid, got Swiffer wipes for $1 a pack, Mondo juices-less sugar than KoolAid and cheaper than the grocery store. Not sure what would be wrong with these products just because they are sold at a different store?

Yep, I buy lots of stuff there that are the exact same brands that I see at Wegman's!:thumbsup2

on our trip to the Dollar Tree last weekend we found

Fiber One Bars (the real General Mills ones):cool1:

Reynolds Oven Bags

Lysol wipes

We always buy the garlic bread from the freezer section it taste just like the name brand from the grocery store and just like the name brand one from the grocery store it is made in america but cost 66% less

Ours doesn't have a freezer section.

I got Fiber One bars there last spring. Bought several boxes and used them for MY snack:) I have some oven bags in the drawer-just waiting for a turkey to bake!

Also buy Heinz ketchup, name brand spaghetti sauce, cereal, brownie mix, etc.

We all make choices...some of us just choose NOT to feed our families products made in China.

Jealous of all you lucky ducks that have a freezer section in your stores! Our local one was preparing for a freezer section but for some reason the plans fell through and it never happened.

Yeah yeah, I know, I've heard it all before. Frankly I look forward to my lead poisoning induced dementia/bloodpoisoning/lung disease. ;)

Oh my are you gonna be angry then! I personally know a lot of teachers and all the ones I know buy candy and treats for their students at the dollar store. You make some good points but for the purposes of staying in my budget sometimes I have to shop at the cheap places. I think many people are that way.

And hey, shouldn't those slave kids in the sweat shops be able to make a few cents too? :p (yeah, sassy, I know)

A lot of products have indeed been tainted by lead or other impurities but dang that can happen from things made and grown in the U.S. too. I do check my labels at the dollar stores to see if obvious cancer causing garbage is in what I'm buying but other than that I don't worry too much about it.

I do love my bargains! I also get the Reynolds wrap, Dawn dish soap (when they have it) and a few paper products. I don't know about the other locations but our store isn't consistent in what it carries. One week it'll be Dawn and the next week something else.

Not to worry, I loved your post especially the farts part. :rotfl:

There are a few hot topics here. Food, toothpaste etc at Dollar Stores in one. Just like in any other store, I look to see where it was produced/manufactured. If people choose to buy products that others wouldn't really so be it. That's whay it is a choice. It's really no one else's business. I have found some good bargains at the Dollar Store on some products and others I have put back on the shelf with out buying.

But my point was that I'm choosing to buy the SAME products, just at a different store for a lower price. It can't suddenly become dangerous just because I bought it at Dollar Tree instead of Kroger. And I typed wrong-my dish liquid is Dawn, not Joy.

One thing I like is that Dollar Tree sells small boxes of namebrand products (like cereal). I like to buy these to take on vacation.

I have gotten Thermacare heat patches and Loreal Color Vive shampoo and conditioner, but I've only seen them the one time. I get The Works toilet and shower cleaner there and save a big .12 off the Walmart price.

Those are brand name Thermacare aren't they? Do they work ok?

What makes you think that only dollar stores have food from China in them? And why do you think that's all dollar stores sell?

And while we are talking about it - just because the food looks like it was "made" in the US doesn't save you from the issues - even if the food looks like it was made in the US, individual ingredients can be imported from other countries like China. That's what happened in the pet food scandel a few years ago. Everyone thought some of those were the "best" brands that were "made in the US".

Read labels. Know what's going on. But jumping to rash decisions and labelling all products in one type of store evil is just ridiculous and alarmist. And acting all high and mighty about it is insulting to others.
