My DDs (12 and 6) are into making "trading cards". They like to cut up magazines and glue pictures onto cards. They asked me to buy them some cardstock because the construction paper wasn't holding up to the glue and ink, but I had a better idea. I gave them my overflowing folio of scraps and let them use whatever they want.....you'd think I handed them a gold mine! They've had 3 days now of playing with it all, thrilled with each new discovery of some scrap of patterned paper. DD#1 didn't like how messy the folio was, though, so last night she organized it all:).

It saved me some money not having to buy them any cardstock, it got a big messy thing out of my scrap area, and they are having fun.....that's win-win here:cool1: .

Now, if I gave my boys a big container full of scraps (and I could, I have 4 right now) I would find the said scraps in even smaller pieces ALL over my house. And you know darn well they won't pick them all up. But I didn't see that piece right next to my left big toe.

Same here. What is it about boys and slobs??? "pick up that toy" "what toy" "the one you are stepping on" geez

I have a small stash that mykids are allowed to play with. My DS even used it to scrap with me on National SD....
But, if you have alot of stuff you no longer use, you might check with your local hospital or a children's hospital nearby.
Arkansas Children's Hospital has scrapbooking classes for mom/dad/family every friday and are always looking for donations. Just a thought I wanted to share.

I have one boy - 7. He can't see shoes, toys, whatever even when stepping on them! I think the testosterone must cloud their vision!

Last night, I told DS that if when I finished taking off my makeup, there was still a pair of underwear (his) on the floor I would make him go to bed wearing them on his head.

It worked if any of you would like to use it later as a threat!

mine would put them on their heads!

The following conversation can be heard at my house on any given day, just fill in the blanks with what ever suits your needs at the moment:

mom: where are your_______? (mostly shoes)

boy(any one of the 4, including DH): I don't know.

mom: where did you have them last?

boy: <blank stare> or if your lucky you get a :confused3

Mom: did you look ______?

boy: yep, not there.

mom: let's go look again.

stomp stomp stomp to where ever room we are searching.

Mom: Hmmm did you pick up the ______ off the floor?

boy: Yep, sure did.

Mom proceeds to pick up _______ off the floor, Viola! ______ is found!!!!

Mom: You do not need a search warrant to look for something!!!!

I swear boys think things have to be in plain sight for them to be found.
And don't get me started on Male Selective Hearing. OMG!

And it's not that it's a kid thing, or a teen thing. They don't grow out of it. I don't know how many times DH has asked where something was, I told him, and then he came back saying it wasn't there and I KNEW it was there. Although, he has proven to be trainable, now I just give him a look and he knows to go back and pick up something and look under it.
