Today was traumatic, but good. We delivered our babies to the nicest woman this morning. She was driving a car full of animals to a shelter in the eastern part of our state. She had two dogs, 5 puppies and 10 cats in one car for the trip. She does this every weekend. I think the woman is a saint.
We all cried - the whole family. But we know in our hearts it was the right thing to do. They guaranteed that they will place them in loving homes. They are very picky about matching up the puppies with families they will fit with. My boys may get their shots and actually go to an adoption tomorrow, depending on what the vet says. The driver gave me her card, and promised to keep me informed, so I'll know when they get a placement. That made me feel good. I keep picturing them in new loving arms and that helps the hurt a little.
She said in that part of the state and in western Arkansas, there are not nearly as many pets to choose from. There isn't such a variety that we have to choose from here in the metro. So they are more quickly adopted, hence the reason she drives out a load each weekend.
Thank you to everyone who offered to help. And thank you to everyone who thought good thoughts. I'll post back on this thread, if you'd like, when I hear that they got new homes.
