Found 2 pups that were dumped and need homes

I live in Chicago and DH and I took in a pure white kittn that we found 3 months ago, if I was anywhere near you we would definately take a puppy to give it a good home, if DH ever went to Oklahoma for one of his trips I would tell him to pick one up, but his boss only gives him trips to Florida, New York, North Carolina. We love animals.

The rescue groups sound like a great idea, and I like the TV station idea too if anyone will do the story. Puppies usually aren't difficult to find homes for. As long as they're a no-kill shelter then that will be a good choice. What breed of dog do you think they are?

Are you sure nobody is looking for them? :confused3 Maybe check the Lost ads in your paper, and it might be worth a call to your town's Animal Control officer and/or police department to let them know you have them in case someone's looking for them somehow. You never know - an angry boyfriend or kids could have dumped them for revenge or something, who knows.

Good luck. If I lived closer I would consider fostering them for you (gets up to go look up Oklahoma on the map, LOL). :teeth:

If anyone you know is heading to WDW soon, see if they can send one of the puppies my way. My MIL is wanting a new puppy and she would really take good care of it.

People do "transport chains" in animal rescue all the time! Maybe you guys can really figure out a way to do this :flower:

I wish I knew someone heading to WDW soon. I'm not going until March, so that won't help.

The rescue groups are no-kill groups. I refuse to consider anything else unless it's a loving home. DH gently said we may have to go to the pound eventually, but I have the puppy rescue lady in my back pocket. I'd have to drive 5 hours, but what's a little gas to save two lives?

I am checking the paper. I called the local tv station today and left a message. My son took a sign to school today, since lots of the band members saw the pups and fell in love. DH put up a sign at work. I'm going to make the rounds to Petsmart and the local vets to put up some more today.

Awww! They are adorable!

If only I lived closer and didn't already have a zoo of animals.

I'd be willing if we could figure out how.

You guys should post over on some other boards (DVC board? Resort board?). There have to be people going from OK to Orlando/Disney for XMas! Maybe you'll find an animal lover who can help you out :goodvibes

I can't stand it, they are too cute!!!!! Bless you for rescuing them. I wish I lived closer....not that my Winnie would be too happy having pups around.

My Holly is afraid of them. She's a weenie. I keep telling her that they are just big friendly puppies, but she's so timid. I have to walk her out to go to the bathroom, so I take the brunt of their happy greetings. LOL!

Still no luck. There was nothing in the paper today. I was contacted by a puppy rescue group in Guthrie. That's about an hour away from me. So it looks like I'll take them there if I can't find a home in the next day or so. She is a breeder with an acreage and she has a web page for finding homes for her rescued pups. Sounds promising. At least I know I have an option if the temperatures dip too low.

Someone dumped two precious puppies behind our high school today. I brought them home so they wouldn't get hit by a car, but I can't keep them. We have three dogs and two cats of our own. I've spent the day calling no-kill shelters and adoption agencies. So far, they are still in my backyard.

Aren't they cute? I'm calling the black lab mix Timber and the blue heeler mix one Wolf. Our high school's mascot it the Timberwolf. So since I found them there it seemed right. :teeth:

I'm concerned about what I'm going to do this weekend. It's supposed to get really cold. DH says we may have to take them to the pound, but I don't know if I can stand that. I'm such a softie. Anybody know anyone in Oklahoma who is wanting a really sweet and friendly dog?

I can't believe someone would have the heart to leave those beautiful pups stranded like that. Hope you find them a loving home.

Wolf has the same look about his face that my dog Lady had when I was growing up. It's almost like a blast from the past. I'd really like to keep him, but I can't let myself go there. Three dogs and two cats are really our limit. DH is only temporary at his job right now and we are having to pay our insurance through COBRA (read EXPENSIVE), so we don't have extra money to spend on vet bills right now.

I don't know how anyone could dump any dog like that. But it's even worse when they are babies. I've spent a lot of time the last 24 hours calling the weasel that left them all sorts of names under my breath.

Sounds like the rescue group would be a good option and it's good that you have that alternative if nothing works out. My sister has commited to a local puppy and might have a friend staying with her that has a dog. Her town has a three dog limit. She liked the speckled dog, though.

Any idea what size they will be?

I would take one if I lived closer. I've actually been looking, the pound near me didn't have any that would be a fit with our family though.

If someone could get a puppy to the Chicago area, I might be able to get it to momof3disneyholics for her MIL. We leave for WDW on the morning of the 21st, so the puppy would need to arrive by the 20th.

Heck, if you can get BOTH of them to the Chicago area we'll take the other!!
