FOTL needed first week of Dec?

We are thinking of tacking on a few days to our WDW trip and going to US/IOA the first week of December. We have never used EE at WDW for this time and waits have been very short. We can't decide if staying onsite at US/IOA would be worth it. We would only be staying for one night and it would definately be just to sleep. Is FOTL that big of a perk in the first week of December?

The first week of Dec is slow. The free express passes you get from the machines in the park will be perfect. The hotels are nice, and you can re-express anything you want to over and over again if you stay onsite. Otherwise you will have to navigate the regular lines, which will still be 20 mins or less under normal circumstances.
