I have shunned the news for a week now

Set boundaries. When I go out with my friends we have a no news rule. If it gets broken then you put a $x toward the bill before it is split. Pets, family, travel, work, health, etc are fair game. Politics, the latest shooting, stolen cars, fire across town, plane crash, unless they have personal knowledge. Off limits.

I know that with many friends with whom I don't share political allegiances we have an iron clad "no politics" rule. It works well

I'll watch the TV but not the news anymore. If I REALLY want to find something out, I'll ask a few AI resources, which hunt down information and present them as is. It's not 100% accurate, but I find that it's pretty focussed and without much spin. They largely trawl the Wiki for their results. MUCH better than forum resources (sorry Controversial Board)

The older I get, the more and more this is becoming me.

I'm a sports fan and 90% of what i do watch is sports related. I do have a big brother guilty pleasure as well though i don't know why lol. There's a handful of HBO shows I'll watch too. But network programs and news almost never.
