Question about on-site restaurant privileges...

So, if we stay on site, do we also get bumped to the front of the line for some of the restaurants?

Does this make sense? Here's what I'm trying to ask: if there is a long wait for a restaurant, does showing our room key put us ahead of the 'stand'by' guests?

If so, does it include all of citywalk? Mythos? Other Park restaurants?

Thanks!

okay I really only have a 1/2 answer - I know at NBA City and HArdrock cafe show your room key and you are put to the next available table for your party size - You can also make ressies at most restaurants in advance - I highly recommend this as after a long park day its good to know there is a table waiting for you - with a short wait!

Universal's Hotel guest priority seating has always been vague. If it is a holiday or a peak time it seems to go away and you can be told certain times we arent honoring that right now. Mostly, for us, its been a bonus.

You would be hard pressed to get a list of restaurants that are included but last we were, these were some that were.

Lombards, Mythos, Confiscos, and all the citywalk restaurants except Emerils.

i only stayed onsite once last year & i'm still not sure what the room key does for you....i showed it to the hostess at the stand in front of Margaritaville & she said 1 1/2 hrs - this was on a thurs after the parks got out in mid-may - i know, not a good time to go.

don't rely on the room key at check-in in the restaurants. you can make PS's at 3 kiosks - citywalk and in each park. your resort concierge can also arrange them.

We've had the room key work it's magic everywhere but Margaritaville. The waits there get so long sometimes that even with the key, you have a long wait. We've been at the Hard Rock Cafe when the line wound around the building and we were seated in five minutes after showing our room key.

How do you present your key to the host/hostess to let them know you're an on-site guest? What do you usually say? In other words, what's a "tasteful" way of letting them know you're an on-site guest?

I tried this with the concierge 3 times last trip (at RPR with both the lobby concierge and the club concierge) and they told me that the restaurants do not take reservations, but I could show my room key.

when you sign in at the podium, meaning show your key card when the employee is putting your name on the wait list.
at hard rock the podium is out in front of the doors.

also, if you go on line to one of the many orlando tourist sites, you will find coupons to print off for head of the line.
i saw one for hrc which is supposed to give preference for head of the line.

Make reservations if you can - however, many places do not take ressies.

(under advice from HRH concierge) The room key works like magic though - and you need to have faith that it will work:

We have been to Margaritaville around Dec 27/28 the last two years. This is arguably the most crowded time of the year. Both times, we showed our room keys for priority seating. Both times they told us that the we were were in a priority list, but that the wait was 1.5 to 2 hrs and that they could NOT guarantee anything. They then put our name in the computer. The first time, we were buzzed withing 5 minutes and this year, we waited 10 minutes.

Have faith - disregard their disclaimers unguaranteed waits and if you have a room key, priority seating WILL work (at least it did for us).

It worked for me at Margaritaville a couple times in the past. But I will tell you that it won't work on Saturday nights after 6pm, they told me that the fotl is not in effect at that time for that restaurant.
