Fort Wilderness

Has anyone found the transportation a problem at Fort Wilderness to and from the parks? I hear it is no problem getting to MK, but it is a problem and can take up to an hour to get to Epcot, Animal Kingdom, MGM, to downtown Disney or to the theme pools. We are going during August so we figure the crowds to be thick and the weather hot. Any advice would be appreciated.

Will you have your own vehicle?

We take the boat to MK and then drive to all the other parks. It is so much easier. Especially the waterparks - don't have to get on a bus with wet bathing suits.

DH's favorite part of Ft. W is that our van is always right there.

Great for quick trips to DTD too.

The only time we have had a problem is going to & from the waterparks and DTD. We usually drive to those, since both usually involved wet bathing suits.

I was wondering, do the buses go straight to the parks or do you have to switch buses ?

I was there in June 03 and you had to change buses to get to the parks. We went to the settelment to get to MGM and Animal Kingdom and to the TTC for Epcot.

We were there May 7-17 2004, never had a problem with any transportation. The longest we waited was at BB, and it was 17 minutes. The other waits for buses were usually less than 5 minutes. We usually drove to DTD, only because we could put our stuff that we bought in the car and not have to carry it around, it was a little more convenient. My DH said he would never drive to the parks again, it is our 2nd time using Disney transportation in 3 years, and no complaints.
