Fort Wilderness Internal Buses

We have stayed at Fort Wilderness a couple times and there is one aspect of the internal buses that I am unsure about.

One evening we were waiting for a bus at the Meadows Recreation stop on the Yellow line. Our loop was not too far, but we were lazy and wanted to ride a bus. After about 10-15 minutes a bus came, but it was an 'Outpost Yellow' bus heading in the opposite direction from where we were going. So we passed it up and waiting another 10 minutes or so. The next bus to come by was another 'Outpost Yellow' bus heading the wrong way for us.

Eventually, the first bus we saw circled back and came back as a 'Settlement Yellow' bus. It had the same driver as the first 'Outpost Yellow' bus we saw so I know it just circled. It makes logical sense that the buses just drive loops on their assigned line, but I am not sure whether it is common for buses to change their destination once they reach the Outpost or Settlement.

My question is this, would we be better served to just get on the first bus that comes along even if we know it is going in the wrong direction or should we wait for one heading the right way and take a chance that we just have to wait for the bus we passed up to circle around?

What does everyone else do?

Is there something I am missing?

Thanks,
John S.

How many stops from Outpost were you? In a perfect world, one bus would be a Settlement at the same time the other was at Outpost, and they would meet at the middle stop. So if you are one stop away from Outpost it would be just a easy to get on that first bus and enjoy a nice seat and a ride out and back. However its always a darned if you do darned if you don't because the buses can always be "off schedule".

We were two stops from our loop. I am fine circling on the bus if I know it will come back around. The big question is will a Yellow bus always do the Yellow route or will they sometimes kick you off at the Outpost or Settlement and change the route they are running. That would be annoying.

Maybe I am just over thinking this. I was just curious what other people do. First bus the comes or wait for one going your way?

Thanks

Yes, the buses usually stay on the same loop. There are normally 2 buses on each route.

Just ask the driver. The driver can usually tell you whether the other bus has passed your stop in the opposite direction yet.

It's a little bit more complicated in the cabins, as they're served by 2 of the 3 routes.
