My family and I will be there Nov. 26 - Dec. 4, and were really looking forward to seeing your castle display. Needless to say, I'm disappointed that we'll miss out! Oh well, there's always next time. Have a great trip, and thanks for spreading the magic!!! :goodvibes

Hey Figment Chick, so sorry to miss you this year. I'll be looking forward to meeting you next year. Goodvibes to you, and as always, have a Magical Day !!!

Does anyone still have their decorations up on December 27th????? I booked a sleigh ride before the 9:30 Hoope Dee Doo show and now that I see the "Castle Guy" :( is leaving the day 26th UGH!!! (REALLY wanted to see that) I am nervous all the holiday lights will be down at the campsites???

Planning to do a tour of the CG when we are in Disney to see the decorations. Do you regulars know yet where you will be situated so that we make sure we hit the best loops to see the decorations? Or should I check back later for this info? We will be down there 12/3-12/12 and plan to do this probably on Fri 12/10.

Also, are there decorations best seen when it is still light out and others best seen in the dark? Thinking maybe a stroll around at 5pm or so, dinner at Trails End around 5:30 or 6 and then a stroll around in the dark.

Also thinking about golf cart rental (4 adults 1 child) but that might not work (not concerned about the cost for a few hours, just do we fit) but can we walk around instead? How do you maneuver in the dark? We won't have flashlights, are there streetlights? Guess we can do some walking and then take a bus to the next loop we want to see. We are all capable of walking.

And yes, we will see Dave the Castle Guy. Have already seen it on youtube and forwarded it to my friends. We are so excited!

Nighttime is definitely best IMO. Not a lot that you'll be able to see better during the day.

There are usually big displays on 100 (right near the Settlement TP), 700 (pretty much a straight shot out of the Settlement area), and on 1600 right along the main road.

There will be plenty of others scattered about, but those are the "regulars" :santa:

Is anyone still decorated on the December 27th?? I am thinking of trying to change my sleigh ride because I see the Castle Man is leaving on the 26th??(which with the pics i've seen of the castle--didn't want to miss)!!!

Brady thanks for your reply both to this thread and the other thread I posted. Think we may forget about the golf cart and walk or bus. Will get flashlights to find our way around. Just have to hope I can bring a flashlight on the plane. Plus walking will help us walk off dinner, either at Trails End or somewhere else. And your opinion of Trail's End is????

Incidentally, we are neighbors, sort of. I live just a few miles north of Boston. Love New Hampshire. This group of friends and I vacation there every summer, used to camp but now we rent cabins or houses, most recently the last coupla years a house in Tamworth. We skipped this year though as we are saving for Disney. My hope and dream is to go back to Disney to the Fort in a cabin with this group for my 50th b-day in a few short years. Let's hope!

Thanks for the info. Will you be there the first week of September, I will try to seek you out when we tour the CG?

You're quite welcome - hope it was helpful.

However you decide to tour the Fort I'm sure you'll love it.

And your opinion of Trail's End is????

Well...... have you seen the other thread about the changes to lunch at TE yet? :rolleyes1

Some people love and swear by TE. I'm not a huge fan. I've enjoyed a few meals there, but it's nothing I feel the need to do when we're there. I'd much prefer the takeout chicken. :thumbsup2

We're not far over the border. We love NH too - have lived here for the past 20 years.

Unfortunately no. We won't be down until November. (I wish it were sooner!!)

Have a wonderful trip! :goodvibes

While the individual loops are fairly close together and can be walked, depending on where your site is located it could be a long walk to and from it. The main roads are about a mile long from Outpost to Settlement and walking the loops would add to that. Just depends on your stamina. We often put five on our GC and have no trouble, although DS14 is getting pretty big to fit in the front with me and DW. Also waiting on a bus to move from loop to loop would result in a lot of wait time. Again it just depends on your stamina, but I would definitely recommend bikes or a GC at least for one evening of looping.

Checking everyday for a site. Someone throw some pixie dust my way.:lmao:

Thanks for the info friends.

Brady - meant would you be there in December and you will, I typed wrong. Perhaps we will connect when we make our grand tour.

Retired and Happy - thanks for the input. We are staying off site and only plan to do a tour of the CG that night. We have a car but I know I can only park it in one spot at the entrance.

If we are non resort guests, I guess we can't rent bikes, and besides the bike place is only open til 6pm which won't help for an after dark tour. Is it your GC that you put 5 on or a Disney rental, or one of the other rentals. We might be able to fit 5 on one. One friend is a 6" tall 280 lb guy, another friend is a near 6' tall woman but thin, other friend is probably 5'5' normal size, self is not quite 5' and petite and 9 year old is about my size, Perhaps we can manage for a few hours.

But if we all present ourselves at the rental place they might be suspicious. Maybe better for 1 or 2 of us to go rent and the others meet up nearby?

But what time does the golf cart rental place close anyway? Maybe this won't work at all if we don't plan to start touring til after an early dinner and will wrap up around 8 or 9pm, maybe 7pm.

Thanks all!

We just bought a Roadtrek and will be at Fort Wilderness December 12 - 17! Been saving our Disney Rewards Dollars for a golf cart. Can't wait to see all the decorations. Trying to do all The Fort things.

We finaly got ressies for Dec 21-26, premium site. Cant wait. Last year, we drove from Tampa on x-mas eve just to see Castle Guys set up. It was worth the drive, as was all of the other set ups. This year we will throw our hat into the ring and see if we can compete with the vets.
