Fort Wilderness Campground Christmas 2010

So glad we booked a cabin for December! We're between motorhomes and I haven't been able to stay away! We'll be there December 8-12 and I can't wait to see all the decorations! It will be our first Christmastime trip with the kids!

I'm so positive that DH will find a new motorhome before next year, I've booked a premium site for Thanksgiving and Christmas weeks 2011, too!

Well, somewhere earlier in this thread I mentioned that I was desparate to add some days to our current ressie of 19-23 Dec. Well, I was able to get 17-24 Dec booked so I am very happy. See some of y'all then!

Yeah, we missed it this year. Haven't been since last July, we all have withdraw. Construction biz was slow last year but has gotten a lot better so we are heading back to our home away from home.

Speaking of which, I will probably begin my planning in earnest. Our dates are Dec. 21 to Jan. 4.

We absolutely have to hit each of 4 parks once. Based on what I've read on these boards, I'm guessing that Christmas Day and New Years eve are probably a no go. Folks have posted pictures, where the crowds are ridiculous. I will monitor this thread for crowd reports from all you folks for this year.

Well I should say that I am new to the camping part of the boards. My family of 6 will arrive dec. 16-25th. We are so excited and this is our first camping stay. Can someone give me the low down on camping during christmas? any tips that we could use about camping? I would appreciate any information! Cannot wait to see everyone!

Hey Mommyto2Mousers, how exciting, your first trip to the Fort!!! I'm sure you have searched the camping boards by now (my response is late). The closer you get to Christmas (the crowds seem to get really bad around the 19Th) the worse the crowds are. We try to go early in the morning (as soon as the parks open) and bail out early afternoon (around 2:00 or 3:00 p.m.), that seems to work for us. Look forward to meeting all "6" of you guys at the Fort!!

I'm kind of in the same boat. I have to find one of those big fancy f250 diesel's to pull my bunkhouse.
