FORT FIENDS DREAM CRUISE Sept 4th, 2011 (Labor Day Week)

Yes. I appreciated the darkness and the fact I could still breathe.

The raspberry mousse was not so raspberry.;)

Edit: since this is on the next page of posts, I was answering a question about my allergy to chocolate.

Just checked the prices for my family of 5 and it looks like $2535 and the deposit is $1,000. Not bad at all!! woo hoo. Just let me know if that is the best rate for my family size!! :woohoo:

ps... sorry for being gone so long off the boards!!!

When I was in HS, my parents and sister went on a 7 day cruise and I stayed with relatives. I loved the time away and so did they. I would find a real demanding person to let him stay with and then he will appreciate you even more when you return!;)

Do you need a prescription for Dramamine patches, or are they available over the counter like the pills are? Ive never gotten sea sick, or car sick, or any kinda motion sickness before, but on the last fishing excursion I went on...I watched a kid turn pale green and ralph his brains out.....I dont EVER wanna feel like that poor little kid felt!!! An ounce of prevention is worth a ton of cure!!

No, you don't need a script for it. If you don't get sick fishing, I doubt you will get sick on a ship. Now, offshore deep sea fishing, there is a recipe for the dramamine!

My last trip out was deep sea and I was fine...I got rythm, I can counter the sway cuz Im smooth like that!!!

What are you talking about...a recipe?

Does anyone get the feeling that this ship......well....MAY suffer some damage from this trip?????? I mean....ya KNOW....someones gonna get drunk and SOMETHINGS gonna get broken!!! Im bringin a huge foam finger onboard with me for when the fingerpointing starts!!!

Rog, try meclazine (sp?) You can get it at Wally world by the pharmacist. It is the generic bonine, like a dramamine. Worked really good for me for flying. I don't like to fly and I was good the whole time. Turbulence didn't bother me at all. That is what I will be taking, need it or not.

OMG...I thought you typed MEZCALINE.....I was freaking out (and maybe a little excited) that you could buy halucinagenics over the counter at walmart!!!!

LOL, calm down Rog. You can get a bottle of 50 or 100 for half of what 8 cost you.

Yes - Bonine is much better than Dramamine, because it doesn't cause drowsiness, and you don't have to worry about having a drink or two and going to sleep!! :)

I'll have to agree here. I always got car sick as a child and things like riding in the back seat or reading make me sick as an adult. I take Bonine - one a day - and have very good results. Once on the way back into Galveston, we hit Tropical Storm force winds/waves. The ship was rocking and rolling. Barf bags were lined up on the hall railings. People were throwing up everywhere. We went top deck with fresh air blowing and I didn't once feel sick. I swear by it.

And, Phyllis, don't let that description scare you. It was actually quite fun! Deck furniture sliding from one side to the other . . . you get the picture?

No - Rog, my DH and son did not take any medicine and they weren't sick either. They both are o.k. deep sea fishing too. I think you'll be fine, but you can always have it with you just in case.

They also give it away in little packets, by the medical center, on the ship. :)

If you think you might get sick you should begin taking the bonine/dramimine the day before you sail. Once you start feeling sick it takes time for the medicine to work and you still feel terrible. Also take it at night before bed, that way you likely won't feel any drowsiness.

Being topside in the fresh air is the best placed to be if you are feeling sick. You are able to regain your visual references and even though you'll feel more motion, you will not feel sick or as sick. Below decks your brain can have a hard time with the inputs it's receiving from your inner ear without the visual reference to confirm what is happening.

I thought we might get seasick, but we felt fine on our cruise. There was some motion in the boat as we crossed the Gulf Stream, and the other cruisers said that is not unusual, but it was not really that bad. There was one night where the "rolling motion" seemed a lot more noticeable and they had the stabilizers out. We could hear the "rush" sound in our cabin periodically, but it was kind of like being rocked to sleep. It's all good..:thumbsup2
