Formula 1 will NO LONGER be televised in the United States.

Was referring the races I HAVE watched in the past. Boring and no interest in watching F1.
uh huh but that's not all you mentioned in your comment. There's always less exciting races. Monaco is only on the schedule these days because it's tradition (most feel this way) but it's seen as generally a dull race although I enjoy how tight it can be because of the buildings it's not one that overtaking is done much at all. But it's how all sports are, some match ups are more exciting than others, some tracks are more exciting than others. Your comment literally just sounded like someone who heard vaguely of a sport (doesn't matter what sport) or maybe just had assumptions of a sport (doesn't matter what sport).

Semantics obviously, but the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences considered programs on streaming services for the Emmy Awards. I would think a live broadcast that could be sent to a TV would then be considered televised programming.
That is something that NEVER EVER EVER should have happened. That is what the Cable ACE Awards were for.

There are boring F1 races/tracks just like there are boring Nascar races/tracks. Those I just keep an eye on vs. watching every turn. I do the same with football/hockey/basketball/etc. Some are just more exciting than others.

I'm not sure how Apple will handle replays but I do know you won't be able to record races as they don't allow recording. I guess it's wait and see.

Some races the practices are where the action happens either car trouble (I don't root for crashes though) or action happening off the track like Christian Horner getting canned and the commentary is where you get to hear a lot of what has been happening. I've been enjoying Nico Rosberg being there as he has been giving more in-depth into the driving, driver battles, etc

Then you have races like this weekend where it's a Sprint race so that first practice maybe less exciting but then you jump right into Sprint Qualifying and then jump right into the Sprint race. Sometimes the track isn't as exciting but with less laps than the normal race that can change how aggressive (or risky) a driver may be.

Personally, I don't care if any Race is broadcast. But since I can pay someone to let me watch it on TV why is that any different than paying for cable TV or Direct TV or any company that feeds you a signal via cable or internet. It is only the delivery system and who you send the money too.

Won’t Apple just offer up every race after the fact as a VOD streaming option?
ESPN+ presently does this but only for a short timeframe so a lot of people are wondering how Apple will handle that. Like right now you can only watch replays from this weekend's Austin events on ESPN+ app and you can't watch the Practice or Sprint Qualifying from Friday only the Sprint race from today. The Singapore race from October 5th (the last race before this weekend's) is not available for viewing on the app with the exception of a Spanish telecast.

F1 races are so not boring on the whole - compare it to a NASCAR turning left constantly, that is boring. F1 and Indycar when racing on road courses can be thrilling and show the skills of the drivers.

Luckily for us here in Australia our Foxtel subscription covers F1.

Yep, it will likely be televised everywhere else worldwide… but us Americans won’t get to see it on TV anymore. True end of an era.

You do realise that you have to pay to watch Apple TV?
Read the post I quoted. It was about "not being able to watch on TV".

Sports have been on pay channels for a long time. Again, the main networks decided it wasn't financially smart to pay for the rights. Maybe F1 needed more fans?

Apple, which has a much smaller TV and movie presence but does have loads of cash put up $140-150 million (ESPN was paying 85-90 million) which would be hard to beat. You're overthinking here.

F1 has been on ESPN for years now - a pay channel as well.
To be fair I think that poster was responding to the comment of not knowing how to watch Apple TV on your TV.

Apple TV is an app, it requires the app and a subscription to watch it. We don't have a smart TV we have a fire stick, not everyone has a smart TV or has a fire stick or roku stick, etc. That is how we access ESPN+ and how we will access Apple. Functionality-wise it's not the same as turning on our TV and going to the ESPN channel or the ABC channel to watch F1 stuff and to be fair I think that's what the OP was actually meaning and Sam just responded in a sarcastic way of saying you don't know how to watch Apple TV on your TV

Don’t forget… what if the internet breaks down? It’s not like Apple can just shift it to an offline linear channel if that were the case…
