Hi we're staying in a villa in formosa gardens and was wandering if anyone had stayed here if it's possible to get a take away delivered here as it's got security gates at the entrance? :cheer2:

Hi-we stayed in a villa at indian creek which is just behind Formosa Gardens.
You can get takeaways delivered anytime and you also have a few shops and restaurants on Formosa such as the outback steakhouse and an italian etc.Dont get a chinese from the taste of china as its awful-and from where you are use the sherberth rd to get to disney, this saves about 15 mins driving.
Have fun!
Dave

Hi Jowan and welcome to the Dis :thumbsup2

When are you travelling?

Formosa Gardens is an excellent location :thumbsup2

We're travelling in jan 2007, really can't wait as this will be the first time we've stayed in a villa and we've talked some more of the family into going with us (reason for the villa). It's our second time to Orlando, the first was 2003 on International drive. :dance3:

It sounds fabulous - the parks should be lovely and quiet then too :thumbsup2

I have never stayed in Formosa Gardesn but looked at homes to purchase when we were down there. We now own close by in Emerald Island Resort.

You are going to love FG. The homes are beautiful. There is so much in the area for dining and a grocery store at the top of the street. On the corner of Formosa Gardens BLVD and 192 west is a Win DIxie grocery store, taco bell. outback steak house, carrabbas ilalian, giordanos pizza, TGI Fridays, cracker barrel, a doc in a box walk in medical facility, dairy queen, there is the chinese but I would not advise. On the oppisite corner is a red lobster my dbil raved about. Going across 192 from redlobster is a walgreens drug store. On 192 there are countless choices for your group to choose from.

To get to the parks you will leave FG and take a right onto FG BLVD. At light take a right but get into the far left lane because you need to take your first left at the light. It comes up quick if you are not used to the route. That left is sherberth rd and you will follow that down until you reach a light. At that light you are now going to start reading signs as to what park you are going to travel to. You will be taking a left unless you plan on going to AKL to have a look see. I recomend it and dinner if you have the opportunity to do so. It is beautiful.

Have a wonderful vacation.

You also have a Publix supermarket less than a mile away, turn left at the junction of Formosa and the 192, and it's just up the road on the right hand side.

As you'll see from my signature, we've stayed at Formosa Gardens many times. Both the Outback Steakhouse and Carrabba's (and no doubt several others) offer curbside take-out. You just call ahead and arrange a time to collect. Your villa will undoubtedly have menus from all the local eateries, but, if not, just stop off on your way past and collect some.

There are companies which will deliver take-out from your choice of restaurant, but we've never used one. For an additional fee, they'll even collect from multiple restaurants.

The "security" gates aren't an issue. Invariably they're open and, even when they're not, everyone and his dog (and the dog's hairdresser :teeth: ) knows the access code.

You will love Formosa Gardens, we stayed there last christmas, the community is very peaceful, and is in an ideal location for getting to and from the disney parks.

We liked the place so much we have just purchased a villa on there.

Thanks for all your replies and great tips, having looked at the local live website, I had missed the idea of going up Sherberth Drive and thought that straight to World Drive was easier so this is a great tip. :goofy:
