Former Lasagne Lovers Meet Here!!!

It's nice to know honu that you are our in-house endocrinologist. I so hope the next step is the key to getting you on the road to recovery. I am planning on that NYC Marathon!

Tink, I hope the doc you get this one is the right one for you. I understand how infuriating it is to find out a misdiagnosis should have been caught.

Breezy, have fun at the match. Hope the weather is nice.

Why can't more docs be like that? If you're borderline and having major symptoms, shouldn't they listen to you?

It would be nice if docs actually listened to their patients, but they think we're all stupid, uneducated people. We can't possibly know what's wrong with our bodies. Sigh.

I still look but choose not to look hard or long. I mean, I'll pass someone and think, "Oh, he's cute" but then poof, the thought's gone. KWIM?
Lone survivor? From a tv show or something?

Lone survivor= Marcus Luttrell. I have a mega crush on him. Now I'm wishing I was going to Houston for my next surgery... And maybe I still might... you never know....

Honu, I'll take as many pics as I can. I think today's the last day we can bring cameras because it's still a practice round. Although I think there's a skins game today too.

Catch y'all later.

Hope you got some good pics. :thumbsup2

Ha ha ha. Yeah, I guess I am the in-house endocrinologist... Not a bad job to have. :yay::woohoo::dance3: More high test results again sooooooo yeah. Hopefully it'll be on to the next surgery soon. The funky chicken smell/taste is back so it sounds like my sinus infection isn't gone so we're on our 3rd antibiotic, Avelox. I get to have a camera shoved up my nose on Monday. Happy Birthday to you! Here's a camera! :woohoo:

I'm planning on the marathon too. Wish it was going to be this November rather than next November...

I know. We're a bunch of stupid rubes, right?

I hope so, too. She's a Christian (I think. She works at Christian Family Care) and is an ARNP so I'm hoping she'll listen. The lab still uses 5 as their cut off level, still not changing it to 2-3 like the AACE recommends.

Exactly. That must be why my doctor trusts me to get my own results and interpret them. OK, looking at that, it probably sounds pretty weird.:rotfl: He does go over my results during appointments, but in the meantime, I can look at my results on a day to day basis and I know enough to see when I need to test or not.

If she's good, she won't look at the reference range, she'll go by the 2-3 as the AACE recommends.

And if she's great, she'll give equal credence to your symptoms.

Levels can change throughout the day. Cruciferous vegetables will lower your thyroid's function as will soy.

Tink, is your appt. today? You're in my prayers.

Honu, what's the latest with you-you're in my prayers.?

That is the mark of a great doc, imo.

Thanks! Well, the latest is I'm waiting for the Growth Hormone stimulation test to be done. More tests are coming back saying that the Cushing's is still there, so um, yeah. More testing, then probably more surgery...

I hope so! I'm going to take the AACE papers into her at my appt. I'm also considering calling her and asking her if she goes by ref range from lab or if she'd go by AACE.

My appointment's Monday. I wish it was today! I want to hurry up and find out.

I think so too. I don't like medical professionals that think they know your body better than you do.

:crazy2: Hey, maybe this time they'll avoid your nose and shave your head! ;)

That's a good idea! Definitely take info with you. If you have any old lab work, I'd bring that too. That way they can see "trends" or what's been happening in your body. :thumbsup2

Good luck!

That drives me nuts, when they try to tell me what I'm feeling. No dude, I actually live in this body, I know the pain I'm in.

Now that would be cool!

Hello, friends! :goodvibes

Tink- My doctor diagnosed me with hypothyroidism in 2007, soon after I had my last baby. I haven't been good about taking my medicine, though . (The doctor gave my Synthroid.) I had to go in for an appt for something else recently, and the doctor sent me in for a blood test right after my appt. Weird thing is that all my blood levels came out normal despite not taking my meds like I should. Part of me wonders if it had to do with having a baby, not eating well, not sleeping well , when I was diagnosed. I don't know. I am switching doctors anyhow, so I may have him check again.
I understand what you all said about the foggy feeling. It sucks going to school and trying to deal with that.

Well, I can tell you I'm not having the most exciting Saturday night... but that's OK 'cause I'm going to bed soon. :thumbsup2

So, an update for everyone on my health. My IGF-1 came back really low, and that's potentially a measure of how much growth hormone I'm making/not making, so I have to go have a growth hormone stimulation test done to see if I'm making enough.

Got 3 tests back that pretty much show that the monster in my head is still there rearing it's ugly head. Which honestly, doesn't really bother me. It confirms what my intuition was saying all along. So in a way, it was kind of a comfort in some ways to know. It means some not so easy decisions are coming down the pike in the next few months, but we'll get through it.

And you could wear funky wigs!
As for old tests, I don't have them anymore and it would take days to get them. I spoke to the lab and they said I'd have to come there, show ID, and it could take 5 days to get results. My appointment would be over by then.

SM~ Man. I've heard of being hypo after having a baby. Maybe your body just corrected itself? Or your lab has a high reference range.

I spoke to the secretary at my ARNP's office. She's very hard to understand and she's not the nicest person. She refused to have her call me and wouldn't answer any question.
So I called the office in Federal Way. This secretary's accent was easier to understand and she was much nicer, answering any questions I had. I explained to her what my last PCP did, and she said that Barbara would look at ref ranges but would also listen to me and run any test I asked her to. :thumbsup2 Let's hope she's right!

Tsk tsk we fell back too many pages
We are going to Gatlinburg TN
I traded out my DVC for a specric week
I got my vacation approved fot that week
Oh Im not making any sense,
Every year at the week of June 12 there used to be a big motoecycle rally in Knoxville TN called the Honda Hoot
When I went on line to register we found that the Hoot was cancelled
We decided to go anyway
So we'll be riding in the mountains of TN and NC
Our life has been crazy and we really need this time together
