Forget Reality! We're cruising on the Fantasy July 28, 2012!!!

Thank you to all who welcomed me to the board! :)

Again, this is my first cruise and it will be just my son (8) and I!

When you've never cruised, there are a million questions to ask, and I'm not sure where to start.

I'm currently trying to decide on what port activities to book. There are so many choices and I'd love to have suggestions/reviews (good and bad) from any experienced cruisers with the Eastern Caribbean.

Also, how do beverages (non-alcoholic) work with the Disney cruises? I know on other lines you purchase cards or pay as you go.

And finally (for now!), what time is the best to arrive at the port for boarding and departure? We are not using Disney transportation and I have heard pros and cons of various different arrival times.

ANY suggestions/hints would be extremely helpful!!!

Thank you SO much and I can't wait to experience paradise with all of you!!

For beverages/food outside of the movies & shows, you use your key to the world card and they are charged to your room. A tip is automatically added so unless you want don't leave more tip on the signing slip. It shows you the tip on the slip you sign but I can't remember what % it is.
You can get soda, coffee & tea at the self serve stations on board and take them into shows, your room and such. If you order soda from room service you will be charged for it.

How exciting! Your first cruise!!!!!pirate:
Our first cruise was in July 2006. It was a double dip at Castaway Cay on the Magic.
We were hooked! This will be cruises 15 & 16 this summer on DCL. We are doing a B2B cruise on the Fantasy (7/21 & 28). We were just on the Magic for Spring break with our 2 DDs (12 & 16). This cruise is just for the DH and I.

Happy day after July 4th everyone!

Welcome to all new comers!!

WOW only a few more weeks till the cruise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No I didn't join in the champagne girls fun, DH an I had our own fun in ooh la la!

Have a great trip, sounds like fun. We still have three more weeks of school here. But they will fly by I hope. I am waiting to hear if there is a position at the school for next school year, my contract runs out on the 31st august. I go through this every year, just hoping that they make it a permanent position this year, and I have also applied for a higher position which again all depends on getting the status I have been studying for, so will have to wait and see!

I was just curious about the champagne girls, but it seems very elaborated and we already have enoug with the FE :rotfl2:
Cant believe that you also have over there teacher contract issues, here is crazy, but you'll se God is good and He will take care of it

I just downloaded the DISboards app- it is awesome! I just searched for "DISboards" and the DIS logo showed up, no problem.

Another way to feed the addiction!

Got the app this weekend too, there is another one call Cruise Mate and you can pick your cruise line and there is a bunch of cool stuff, but I believe this one is $1.99 I didn't dowload that one....with the Dis is enough:crazy2:

We have main dining too. I'm down for the champagne girls princess runner was planning on doing the tasting onboard.

I guess I am the only one with late dinner, lol Oh well...

Is late to put together a group for that but I will for sure go to the tasting, will try to find out in the Navigators what they offer

Happy 4th July o all my new friends over the pond xxx enjoy your celebrations

Thank you!!! Had a great time in Fort Myers Beach, awesome weather

We are doing the Champangne Cruise in St Thomas, and we have two 8 year old kids in the group, I reaearched for weeks in the tour operators websites since int he past I had book excursions on my own, but this time DCL have them priced right, I would have love to do the full day snorkeling that includes Honeymoon Beach but is sold out!

Also, how do beverages (non-alcoholic) work with the Disney cruises? I know on other lines you purchase cards or pay as you go.

You have the sodas and juices included in the price of your cruise, unlike other cruise lines, the only thing is water bottle if you are picky about it, we are not and water is just fine.

And finally (for now!), what time is the best to arrive at the port for boarding and departure? We are not using Disney transportation and I have heard pros and cons of various different arrival times.

They won't allow you in the parking lot before 11 am

I can't believe we are so close to our sailing date! Today I finally, and after a long research, booked St Thomas excursion, we are doing the Champagne Cruise, it seem to be priced right.

Also are we still on to get together in the very first DVC Meet and Greet? have to come up with an idea to identify you guys!!! This just for fun.

Well, see you soon

I can confirm today that I do still have a job for school starting in September, basically I have gone up a level so I am now a more experienced teaching assistant staying in the same key stage that I currently work in, later on today I shall find out which class and year group. I was a little disappointed to not get the Learning supervisors position, which I have been working towards, but that was due to lack of experience, which I can work on. I still have my assessment on Monday to gain a higher level status, but I am happy with my lot.

Now I am on the official count down, 2 weeks today school breaks up and three weeks today I shall be flying out to Orlando.

Great that you have a job in Sept. That can be really stressful waiting to find out! :)

Do we have a final FE with all the corrections/room #s added and stuff?
I only have the one FE list that has about 5 room numbers not assigned yet.
Thanks- :thumbsup2

In 3 weeks we will all be working our way to/on the ship! :cool1:
Or back on the ship (since we are B2B).

I have only had one room number given to me since the last copy of the FE went out, so still waiting. No one see has been added to the let, so in terms f occupants for each room, that is all correct, so it's just the room numbers we are waiting for.

If anyone else has received their stateroom numbers in the last week, can you email it to me please, or if you receive it in the next two weeks or so , please let me know.

Thanks cruise peeps, 3 weeks today we sail away

We have not received our stateroom
Assignment yet, it's not for lack of checking. From the Vgt thread it sounds like they are being assigned two weeks out. Will let you know ASAP!

No stateroom assignment for me either.... I
have a OGT

We have two OGT cabins booked we are keeping our fingers crossed that they are connecting and are forward instead of aft. There are no midship porthole rooms so unless we get upgraded to a veranda which would be awesome, I have no hopes for midship.

Hello to all! well no stateroom number yet, I check everyday!!! We finally decided on excursions, St Thomas we are doing Champagne Cruise, St Maarteen we are renting a van and will go beach hoping, we have done this before and works just fine...FE goodies ready to put together and finally today I found the dress for formal night, so I am relief. I can't believe the day is almost here.

Blessings to all!!

Hi all....arghhh this rain is depressing, I hope we get some wall to wall sunshine for our cruise...I so desperately need some. Some places in Britain have had severe flooding, and over a months rainfall in a matter of hours! Fortunately for us we live on a hill so no flooding here. Lots of events across the country have been postponed or cancelled....outdoor concerts for example....don't think the Olympics will be affected if the weather continues to be bad but who knows?

Had a big week this week, my assessment was on Monday and it goes to moderation this coming Monday so I hope to hear if I have achieved the status by the time we travel. I also went for a huge image change and had my shoulder length hair cut short.....it's so much easier and I am loving the look. We are on the wind down at school now. The children find out tomorrow who their new teachers are for next school year and we finish up on the following Friday. That leaves me a week to get the house ship shape, the packing done and ready for our holiday.

I am hoping to go and visit one of our favourite cast members next weekend before we travel, he was back home on leave and three weeks ago he fell and damaged his ankle, needing a couple of operations. he was due to be back on the Fantasy last week. He has a 6-9mth recovery period before he can go back for fitness tests to see if DCL will continue his contract. He is a youth councillor in the club/lab. I am hoping to go and collect a parcel of goodies for his girlfriend who is also on the fantasy so that. Can deliver them to her. he is gutted he won't be able to see her for such a long time. The children don't know that we may be going to visit, so it will be a huge surprise for them. they were really looking forward to seeing him again.

16 days to go
