Forget Reality! We're cruising on the Fantasy July 28, 2012!!!

I don't know if you talked about this but just was wondering who has late dine time and early dine time? I know it just depends on each family and what they like best.
We have early dine time.:goodvibes

We always pick late dinner! just for the fact that don't like to rush from excursions to ship to shower, usually takes a good amount of time getting ready, you know hair make up heels dress for me and DD and then DH and DS showers shaving "this shirt needs to be iron" etc etc etc It will be so much stress!!! Late dinner allow us to get back in the ship, go to the upper deck to watch the sunset get ready before dinner to walk around and have a drink...or two.

But please I will like to read the opinion of all of you...why the late or the early dinner? Blessings to all and see you in 30 days :cheer2:

My son and I will be joining all of you on the 28th. I'm a single parent and I have been saving for this mother/son experience for so very long. I'm in disbelief that it is only a month away! This is our first cruise and we are both extremely excited. Any general advice for a first time cruiser would be greatly appreciated! I've been reading every tip I come across, but I still have no clue how anything works (dining, boarding, activities, etc.). I guess it's a good problem to have! :yay:

Welcome!!! I remember my mommy and me Disney trips when I was alone with my DS and is a precious time to remember, he is now 19...you are going to love this cruise and he will to, whats his age? xoxo

Have added your room number to the spreadsheet list. It helps to have the same room for B2B. we often sail B2B and have the same room, we sail B2B this time 7/28 and 4/8 but have different rooms by choice, we wanted to try an inside stateroom with virtual porthole and as this cruise will be our last(for a long time but not forever I hope) we have treated ourselves and gone concierge for the second part.
:cheer2:

Good for you sister! I always promise my DH that this is going to be our last DCL in a while and end up reserving on board lol You have the Med option it must be awesome!!!!

People go to the DCL main forum and look at this thread "Calling any Champagne Girl!! " and let me know what you thik.

Jojo look at the pic from today in that thread are you in there? from the maiden voyage

It sound like fun!!!!

Congratulations & :welcome: I'm sure you'll have a great time. How old is your son? Come to the DIS meet & hopefully we can introduce him to some other kids his age. I've cruised 4 times w/ my boys so I have experience w/ boys at various ages of cruising. Feel free to ask any questions. My DSs are 15 & 12 (bday last week). Somewhere on this thread we have ages of kids, so post & we'll see who we can find.

Do you have any excursions planned yet? My DS 12 asked me to stay onboard in St. Maarten & just ride the aquaduck w/ him! DS 15 is doing the 12 metre Sailing Regatta that day w/ a friend & his college age son. I'm looking forward to that one on one time w/ him. On CC I have a do-over planned w/ eldes DS to parasail w/ him b/c we it was too windy 2-3 yrs ago& it got cancelled, but he's still holding me to it as "just the two of us." DH did the Stingrays w/ younger son.

Elfinjojo: If you have time could you post the list of our group w/o room numbers or last names, so we can start trying to get 1st names w/ DIS board names straight & figure out which kids we have at what ages & try to get them introduced to each other at the DIS meet(s). If all you have is the FE group, I could try to go through the thread & get find the missing ones that aren't in the FE like us.

1st cruise our kids were 4 & 7 we actually did late dinner b/c they usually took a late nap from all the excitement & then wanted to do the characters before dinner. 2nd cruise late dining did not work b/c our youngest DS started falling asleep at dinner, refused to nap, & then was raring to go to the kids club afterwards. 3rd cruise was I'm not sure which we did. 4th cruise w/ the kids was late dining & it was nice to have time to shower after our adventures, to enjoy the sailaways from each port, & we tend to be night owls so we could enjoy a late night walk after dinner. This cruise we're going back to early seating.

Look at the Navigators, think about what things you & your family would like to do, see what times they're at & try to adjust your dining time onboard if you feel that the other seating would work better for you. It's all about personal preference.

For us early dine time works better also due to my kids just can't wait until later to eat. I think when they are older it would work out better. But I also know families whos kids do just fine with late dinner times and like it. I think it just depends on how each family is, no right or wrong to it.:goodvibes

DVC Mary: You are the 2nd one that has a 12 year old going.:) My oldest son is 12 and like I told another mom on here -- that if your sons like Xbox and want to have the boys hook with to meet that way on Xbox Live then let me know and I will PM you - my sons gammer tag name, I think that is what the kids call it now days.LOLOL:rotfl:

The med is fab, we sailed DCL in 2010, so convenient a 1 hr drive to port as compared to a 10 hr flight! And then just an hours flight back from Barcelona t our home town airport and a 5 min taxi drive home.

Would love to do it again next year but for an 11 nighter, it was more expensive than for us to fly over to the states and do a B2B-shocking!

Disney Fans - Great idea! I'll check with my DS and ask him for details which I'll PM you.

I ordered the last things I need to finish my FE gifts today. I am having fun putting my gifts together - I don't do much crafting anymore, so this is a nice creative outlet for me.

This weekend I'm actually getting ready for our upcoming camping trip. We are taking Thursday and Friday off after the 4th, and going to western MA to a campsite we've gone to several times before. We have a pop-up camper with electric hook-ups so it's not really "roughing it", but it is not luxurious by any means! We are really looking forward to some time away from work, doing non-electronic things with the kids (i.e., no xbox or computers) like swimming, paddle-boarding, bike-riding and playing cards and boardgames. :cloud9:

Once we're back from our camping trip, it will only be a few weeks until the cruise, so time is FLYING by!
:woohoo:

Have a great trip, sounds like fun. We still have three more weeks of school here. But they will fly by I hope. I am waiting to hear if there is a position at the school for next school year, my contract runs out on the 31st august. I go through this every year, just hoping that they make it a permanent position this year, and I have also applied for a higher position which again all depends on getting the status I have been studying for, so will have to wait and see!

Have fun

I just downloaded the DISboards app- it is awesome! I just searched for "DISboards" and the DIS logo showed up, no problem.

Another way to feed the addiction!

It's cool isn't it, I have been using it for a few days now, no smilies though :(

We have main dining too. I'm down for the champagne girls princess runner was planning on doing the tasting onboard.

Also early dining...in fact, the "2009 Tortola Reunion" rooms have linked their ressies together, hoping that we're in the same dining rotation (and possibly the same table)!

We were on the July 18, 2009 Magic Tortola cruise. It was great!
