Forbidden Journey Test Seat Question

Hello, I've been hearing a little about the test seats for Forbidden Journey for those who are larger in size. For anyone who has been there recently, how do they go about testing you? Should I bother trying out the test seat at the entrance of the ride? After I go through the queue, do they then decide whether or not I go into the "test seat line" or just try out the regular seat? Any information will be greatly appreciated. Basically, what are the steps that I must take. Thank you in advance!!

In my limited experience they actually stop you at the entrance if you look like you might not fit. They stopped my SIL and let her know that she was welcome to tour the castle but did not think she would be able to ride.

They then stopped her again just before the loading station, made her try the seat, and told her where to exit.

Pretty much the same thing happened to me in the first week of August. The outside seat-tester pulled me over and had me try the test seat, which I failed. She then advised me to tell the inside tester that I had failed outside and needed to try again inside. Like a moron, I voluntarily went over to the inside test seat, told them I had failed the first time, and then I failed again. They apologetically gave me a one-time Express Pass for another ride (which I actually used on two rides somehow! heh) and sent me out the Fatty Door of Shame.

What I didn't know at the time was that people had succeeded in boarding the actual ride even after failing the test seats. I guess I should have tried to sneak by the inside test seats, but my overly conformist attitude was my downfall. Then I read about that blogging uber-fan who finally slimmed down enough to ride, and it looked like he was bigger than me even after the slim-down! Of course all this may not matter any more under the modified ride restraints -- I hope.

They now have "modified seats". I voluntairly sat in the seat outside and was told to ask for a modified seat. I am about 5' 6" and around 185 pounds. DH is 6' 3" and 230 and didn't have to use a modified seat. I also saw people who were bigger than me riding in the "regular seats". So in all honesty I have no clue what the requirements are. I would suggest wearing thinner cotton athletic shorts and a t-shirt. Don't take a fanny pack with you or a bag, or tie anything around your waist. Leave it all in the free lockers.

It also seems to matter where you carry your weight. Mine is in my behind - which I can squish into the seat!! It seems like belly fat makes it tough to fit in the harness.

It also seems like height has something to do with it. If you are tall you don't have as much "play room" with your weight. (of course - this is all just my opinion based on riding with various people.)

Just because I know it will help others here are my sizes: 5'7" - 175lbs - 40", 36", 42". I paid attention and I normally get 3-4 clicks in the regular seats. Considering I am easily 30+ pounds overweight it seems like Universal is really trying to accommodate people.

My husband tried the seat out front and got a yellow light. He was told to tell them that he needed a modified seat. When we got up to where they ask how many, we told them and were sent through the middle of three small lines. We we then waited for a few groups to go ahead before a modifed car came around. I think it was the second seat from the left that was modified.

He is 6'1"with a very broad chest and shoulders if that helps. He also went for the modifed seats at Dueling Dragons and Hulk after that. He has no problem riding any of the rides, though.

I've been trying to lose a few pounds and got 5 clicks this weekend!!

I never thought I'd be tracking my weight in "clicks".

Wow it seems very embarrassing to me! I would be mortified if I was told to try a seat to see if I fit, and now I'm worried it may happen! I am very short (5' 1") and definately have some weight to lose but it is evenly distributed. No one section of my body is bigger than any other, I am an equal opportunity chub! Hopefully I will be ok since my husband and daughters are slim I would hate to miss out on riding it.

I know what you mean, I am not looking forward to having to sit in a test seat in case I get escorted to the "fat door" but at the same time I would like to ride with DS(10) and DD(8). Oh well, no point in trying to do anything about it for this trip just fingers crossed and breath in!
